After finding her own happy ending, she tried her hand at writing stories. She wishes she could say that she sat down one day and wrote a book. Instead, she stopped and started writing at least a dozen times. Somewhere between having kids, returning to college and a part-time job, she set aside time to write. She studied all kinds of books on setting, character, dialogue, viewpoint and conflict. She also attended local chapter meetings and national conferences, absorbing as much as she could. After entering countless contests, she finally went from the bottom of the heap, to placing in the top three. She even won a few!
In 2013, she was a Top Ten Finalist in Harlequin's So You Think You Can Write contest. Although she didn't win, she did get a revision request that eventually led to a sale in May 2014.
Most days, she's helping couples find the perfect engagement ring. Most nights, she's in her office, getting new words on the page. Follow her on Facebook at www.facebook.com/janschliesmanauthor or on Twitter @janschliesman
Her first book, Protecting His Brother's Bride, is a May 2015 release from Harlequin.
Dalton is determined to protect the headstrong widow, even as he plans to walk away once she's safe. If only her green-eyed gaze didn't melt all of his emotional defenses. But when their mission exposes an earth-shattering family secret from both their pasts. Dalton must choose between his brother's betrayal and the one woman he should deny.
