Debut Author Jeanne Guzman Gets Lost

DRAGON LOVER

Gypsy Shadow Publishing
ISBN: 978-1-61950-032-7
For eighteen years Kimball Crossley trained for the day she’d come face-to-face with the demon who murdered her parents. Nothing could’ve prepared her for the dragon who would change her life forever.

Dmitri of the Langhier Clan is one of the elite Dragon Hunters. For eighteen years he’s stood against evil, believing he’ll forever be a warrior for his people. That is, until the night he’s confronted with his future.

With whispers of war in the air, can Kimball learn to trust what she’s always hated and accept her love for the Dragon Hunter? Dmitri’s skills as a hunter are superior, but can he accept that women, particularly his woman, can be as strong in mind and body as any well-trained hunter? Can they put aside their differences long enough to save both their worlds?

INTRODUCING JEANNE GUZMAN

Born and raised in Maryland, Jeanne got to Texas as fast as she could. Mother of 4, Mimi to 8, and Keeper of the Zoo, Jeanne and her husband/best friend enjoy life to its fullest. When they’re not traveling around Texas in their motor coach, you can find Jeanne sitting in her home office typing away at her computer.

One thing the succinct paragraph above doesn’t tell you, is how precious Jeanne is to her fellow chapter members, how giving, and how talented she is with a camera! So glad you could join us today, Jeanne!

CURIOUS ABOUT JEANNE?
ANGI: How often to you get lost in a story?
JEANNE: I try to get lost as often as possible, but with the release of Dragon Lover, it hasn’t been often. I try to read at least one book a week.
ANGI: What’s the first book you remember reading?
JEANNE: That one is easy, Ten Apples Up On Top by Dr. Seuss. I checked it out so many times that in my last year of elementary school, the librarian, Mrs. Mathews, gave me the book as a gift. I don’t know what happened to that book, but I do have a copy on my book shelf to remind me of my love of reading. Now, the first romance I ever read was Paradise Wild by Johanna Lindsey. I’ve been hooked since.
ANGI: Can you tell us about a real-life hero you’ve met?
JEANNE: As corny as this sounds, I would have to say my husband. We’ve been together for 30 years, and he’s been my hero from the beginning. He is my Superman.
ANGI: What turns you off like nothing else?
JEANNE: In life, it’s when someone tries to be something they are not. In my opinion, you have to show the world the real you, or end up disappointing a lot of people in the end. The truth is so much easier to remember. In Fiction, when words are added to the story for shock value. I read to get lost in the story, not in the words.
ANGI: Is there a playlist you’d recommend for reading your latest release?
JEANNE: The same one I listened to while writing Dragon Lover, Thirty-Seconds To Mars—This Is War
ANGI: Where do you read and how often?
JEANNE: Mostly, I read in my living room, curled up on the couch with a hot cup of tea by my side. I like to read at night, when everyone is asleep, because when I get lost in a story, I get LOST. My husband often complains that he has to wave a hand in front of my face to get my attention when I’m reading.
ANGI: What sound or noise do you love?
JEANNE: The sound of my grandchildren laughing. It may be loud, but my heart melts every time I hear them.
ANGI: Fairy Tale or Action Adventure?
JEANNE: Fairy Tale. I like the warm and fuzzies.
ANGI: What was the first story you remember writing?
JEANNE: Another easy question. I wrote a historical romance called Mine Forevermore. I still have it, and every time I pull that out of its box, I laugh. I had no idea what I was doing back then.
ANGI: Be honest, when reading...do you put yourself in the heroine’s role?
JEANNE: Always.
ANGI: Is writing or story-telling easier for you?
JEANNE: Writing is fun, it’s why I do what I do, but it’s also a lot of hard work, so I would have to say Story-telling is easier. I don’t have to WORK to get the emotion out there, it’s there already.
ANGI: What’s something you’d like to tell your fans?
JEANNE: I really hope you enjoy reading Dragon Lover, and it’s my wish that you’ll keep coming back to get lost in the rest of the Dragon Hunters Series.
ANGI’S GOTTA ASK:  So Jeanne, why Dragons? On the surface they would seem to be a very scary creature to shift into…what will make me want to cuddle up with yours. *grin*
JEANNE’S GOTTA ANSWER:  That’s the million dollar question. I got the idea of dragons from my youngest daughter who collects anything to do with the creatures, however, you can’t cuddle up to them, so I allowed them to evolve. Much like we humans evolved from apes, my characters evolved from dragons. They’re strong, yet companionate. They’re fiercely loyal, and like the wolf, they mate for life. They only show their wings when in flight or in fight. And when they make love, it’s with their body, heart, and soul.

UP NEXT: The Dragon Within, and I’m guess-ta-mating, it’s release will be in the Fall of 2012.

  1. I adore books with dragons! They are so majestic & awe inspiring. It probably started with the Pern series (devastated to hear of Anne McCaffrey's passing). The most recent dragon book I read was Thea Harrison's Dragon Bound which I'd recommend to any reader who enjoys PNR and/or romantic fantasy.

  7. What a neat concept for a story. I think dragons are so beautiful and tragic, someone's always after them!

One book in my TBR pile that looks really interesting is The Doctor's Misson, by Debbie Kaufman. It's set in 1918 Liberia, Africa. I think it will be a fun read.
