It all started two weeks ago, when I received this from RT BOOK REVIEWS:
February 8, 2012 Received e-mail this morning from Elisa Verna, assistant web editor at RT BOOK REVIEWS: I wanted to let you know that we've featured An Affair with Mr. Kennedy in this month's "Caught on the Cover" column, where we feature recently released books with cover models who bare a striking resemblance to celebrities.
Naturally I was curious so clicked on the link: RT Book Reviews
I scrolled to the bottom of the article titled CAUGHT ON THE COVER and saw these two photographs with the caption:
Mr. Kennedy looks so much like Matthew Fox from Lost that we are considering an "affair" of our own!
The casting history of Mr. Kennedy
Almost every romance writer I know keeps character files on her heroes and heroines. After Mr. Kennedy made RT Reviews Caught on the Cover, it prompted me to go back into my old files and review all the different men I considered for the role of Mr. Kennedy.
Daniel Day Lewis
Very early on when An Affair with Mr. Kennedy was titled The Yard Man and the manuscript was just a few chapters long, Daniel Day Lewis from The Age of Innocence was a strong contender for the role of Mr. Kennedy.
Clive Owen
And then came the hot-hot-hot Brit (who is just possibly the best man) for the role of Detective Zak Kennedy. Oh yeah, Clive is right up there!
Matthew Macfadyen
Any British actor who has played Mr. Darcy is a potential Mr. Kennedy. In my early manuscript notes I wrote down: stoic, enigmatic Kennedy is like a late Victorian Mr. Darcy who works for Scotland Yard. Matthew Macfadyen was also on the first two seasons of MI-5 (Spooks) So, he's a strong contender.
Henry Cavill
When my editor asked me if I had any input for the cover of Mr. Kennedy, I sent along this shot. It's a still from a Dunhill commercial. Henry needs about five more years to become the perfect Mr. Kennedy. JMO. Don't get me wrong––he is so lovely!

Matthew Fox is a hottie all right. I was kinda hoping he was an Aussie, but I think he comes from the midwest!
DeleteMr. Kennedy is very dashing on the cover. I can see the Matthew Fox resemblance. I wouldn't mind seeing Henry Cavill anymore. His features work in historical stories, mus be because I've seen him in that role before.

Have not watched much tv recently but my vote is for Andy Whitfield who originated the role of Spartacus before passing away last year.

He's not English but I love Ewan McGregor. He does an English accent very well. I love how he can be serious or cheeky. I actually prefer his Scottish accent though. ;)

Johnny Messner is an interesting choice. He's a very physical actor. I wonder if he can do the British accent? ;)
As much as I LOVE Henry Cavill, I have to go with Matthew Fox on this one. He just matches this gorgeous cover so well. What a fun post! Usually I get an idea in my head of what the hero looks like and it is almost never anyone I have really seen or seen a picture of. So it is fun to have an idea in my head already, keep it around for when I get to read your book! =)

Henry Cavill is dreamy, isn't he? I knew he was going places when I first saw him in The Count of Monte Cristo a few years ago. But I agree that he's a bit too young for your Mr. Kennedy.
