The Gentlemen of Scotland Yard: Meet the new heroes and heroines coming this Fall

Watch for Rafe and Fanny's story
Release date August 28th

A Dangerous Liaison with Detective Lewis
A second chance at love––on the run

This second novel in the Gentlemen of Scotland Yard series features the rakish and somewhat reckless young detective Rafe Lewis, who you have already met in An Affair with Mr. Kennedy.

This is my road trip romantic suspense, à la Hitchcock's North by Northwest or The 39 Steps. Rafe and Fanny are on the run by train, landship, velocipede (bicycle) and submersible––there may even be a brief ride on a diving bell. Here's the blurb:

WHEN FANNY Greyville-Nugent's father suffers a gruesome death in the clutches of his own machine, mourning his loss is not the beautiful heiress's only heartbreak. Scotland Yard is convinced he was targeted in a plot to halt the rise of industry, and Fanny's former fiance, dashing and dubious detective Raphael "Rafe" Lewis, has been assigned to the case.

For the estranged ex-lovers, bringing the notorious assassins to justice proves as tumultuous as quelling pent-up desires. Fighting peril and passion at every turn of a dangerous journey from Edinburgh to London, they are pursued by an anarchist group hell-bent on destroying her father's mysterious entry into the London Industrial Exposition.

When an astonishing discovery about the couple's failed engagement surfaces, the sleuthing duo realize they can trust no one. Rafe confesses new details about his infidelity and Fanny risks all to avenge her father's murder. But will Rafe and Fanny triumph over the pain of their past?

Archie and Fiona's Caper releases sometime in October

A Lesson in Chemistry with Inspector Bruce
A Pocket Star e-novella

This is a total sneak peek at Archie Bruce as Archie and Fiona's story is still very much in manuscript form! This is more of an inkling than a blurb:

Archibald "Archie" Bruce heads up the crime laboratory for Scotland Yard's Special Branch. The brilliant and capable young man has no time for romance––until he volunteers to tutor the very exasperating Miss Fiona Rose for her Pharmacy exam.
And oh yes, there is a lab explosion, a tragic death and several sinister suspects including an arms trafficker the Yard has been after for years. I bet you think Fiona and Archie fall in love while sleuthing about London, don't you? Sorry, I can't say for sure, I haven't finished writing the novella!

Finn and Cate tango this November 27th

A Private Duel with Agent Gunn
There's a fine line between enemies and lovers.

A steamy, sensuous adventure into the intriguing world of espionage and it's just in time for the holidays!

PHINEAS GUNN is an undercover operative for two of Britain's most sensitive intelligence organizations. Now, the cunning, reclusive agent is asked to take on an unusual burglary case. A rare, stolen jewel has been found on a dead anarchist fished out of the Thames.  What intrigues Finn most about the case is a woman from his past, a Miss Catriona de Dovia Willoughby, ballerina and suspected anarchist sympathizer. Much to Finn's utter disdain and amazement, he finds his attraction to the devilish, impertinent beauty stronger than ever. When he is subsequently robbed by the clever cat burglar he pursues the menacing jewel thief from ballroom to musicale.

Cate Willoughby knows she must stay sharp and move fast if she is to evade Mr. Gunn and recover the jewels that are rightfully hers. When Finn catches her red handed, their steamy encounter makes her realize their attraction is far from over. She suggests an alliance with the intrepid detective, but before they can recover the gems she betrays Finn and disappears.

Believing Cate is secretly in league with the Spanish anarchists, Finn gives chase by land, sea and airship. Once he catches her, what they discover about each other opens deep wounds and carefully kept secrets, but might these strange and startling revelations ultimately bring Cate and Finn closer together?

Commenters: As some of you know, I am a big fan of Alfred Hitchcock. The Gentlemen of Scotland Yard series is based on a Hitchcock/Ian Fleming premise set in late Victorian London! Do you have a favorite Hitchcock or James Bond film? Or how about a favorite Yard man? ;) I have two signed copies of An Affair with Mr. Kennedy for two commenters today. Good Luck!

***Note: Offer void where prohibited. Prizes will be mailed to North America  addresses only. If an Advanced Reading Copy (ARC) is available, the author may utilize that option for International participants. Odds of winning vary due to the number of entrants.

  3. Ohhh, the sneak peak's so awesome!! "including a an arms trafficker the Yard has been after for years" reminds me of Sherlock Holmes, and God knows, I've been crazy over Holmes for so long! I don't know how many people will have the same views as me, but I would choose Holmes as one of my fictional hotties. :P

I love spies and men in uniform, but I haven't read any novels with Yard dudes yet. I'd love to, and I can't wait to get my hands on An Affair with Mr. Kennedy!

    1. Hi CYP,

You know, you just might become a fan of the Gentlemen of Scotland Yard! The series was created to give Scotland Yard detectives a chance to prove themselves every bit as brilliant and daring as Sherlock Holmes. PLUS with these handsome sleuths, you get romance! ;)

    1. Hi Jane,

Ooooh, DIal M for Murder is one of my favorites!

I enjoy all of Hitchcock's creative sides, from the dark thrillers to the romantic suspense movies like To Catch a Thief, which also starred Grace Kelly only this time with Cary Grant!

  5. I can still remember watching Alfred Hitchcock for the first time on our old black and white TV and not being able to go to sleep that night!

It way back in 1957 when I was 10 and loved the dramas, thrillers, and mysteries. I think it had already been on for a year or two but wasn't allowed to watch it with my older sisters until then!

  11. I think Sean Connery was the best James Bond, with Pierce Brosnan right behind him. My favorite Bond movie is probably Goldfinger. It's a bit dated now, but Sean made the role his own.

  12. Sean is a classic all right. Have you ever seen him in a kilt? ;)

  13. Jillian, wow I only have 2 questions for you:

    1) your covers are all stunningly beautiful, I thought I was in love with the cover of An Affair with Mr. Kennedy, but now that I see A Dangerous Liaison with Detective Lewis, I feel fickle ;-) Have you made a deal with the Cover Gods? Offered them your first-born child? The soul of your salamander? A year-long breakfast of brownies?

    2) The second thing I'm wondering about is how you do it. You have so many full length novels being released in quick succession I am amazed. Oh don't misunderstand me, I am NOT complaining, to the contrary I bow down to you and am more than grateful, I am just astonished how you do it :-)) So Bravo and please: keep on doing it!! :-)

Oh and favourite Hitchcock movie, hm.. Birds really freaked me out, but it was Gaslight that stayed with me for years. I saw it as a child and I still remember a couple scenes that marked me. Oh and of course there is Rebecca as well ;-)

    1. Hi Stella,

Am I blessed by the cover gods or what? LOL!

I have been writing these novels over the past year and a half. The manuscript for Detective Lewis was actually finished a year ago, then I wrote Agent Gunn which I completed this past January. Periodically, I revisit both manuscripts to do copy edits and proof pages, etc.

I just finished book #2 for Kensington (steampunk/paranormal series) and now I'm back on the e-novella (Inspector Bruce) for Pocket. Whew! And you're absolutely right, it's a lot of work!

I hope of take a break at the end of the year and do some series planning for The Gentlemen of Scotland Yard and lots of promotion for all those releases! Stay tuned, there will be lots of giveaways! ;)
