GET LOST IN A STORY SURVEY SAYS....

Hello Get Lost in a Story Readers.  We hope you're enjoying and discovering the many authors we bring you day after day.  We at Get Lost in a Story try and bring you a variety of new books to read, debut authors, best sellers, series, Romance, Historical Romance, Inspirational Romance, Mystery, Cozies, Paranormal, Young Adult.  Recently we brought you RITA-award winning authors.  Then of course the GLIAS crew wish to promote our books.  But we want to hear from you.

1)  Is there an author you love who you would like us to approach to be our guest that we haven't hosted in the past?

2)  Is there a genre we're not bringing you that you would like to see more of?

3)  Have any of the blogs opened your eyes to a genre that you might never have read before?

4) What makes you pick up a book and continue reading?  The cover, the blurb, opening page? Other?

5)  Give us an example of a book you couldn't put down.

Answer any, some or all of these questions.  Leave your e-mail address or contact information, and at the end of the day, we'll draw a winner for a $25 gift certificate--your choice to your favorite bookstore.

Note: Offer void where prohibited. Prizes will be mailed to North America addresses only unless specifically mentioned in the post. Odds of winning vary due to the number of entrants. Winners of drawings are responsible for checking this site in a timely manner. If prizes are not claimed in a timely manner, the author may not have a prize available. Get Lost In A Story cannot be responsible for an author's failure to mail the listed prize. GLIAS does not automatically pass email addresses to guest authors unless the commenter publicly posts their email address.

    2. Thanks for your comments, Jane

Because I write near the end of the gaslight era, late Victorian London, I think I have felt obligated over these past months to explain the category a bit. Glad you enjoyed it.

  2. Loves 2 Read Romance - LauraAugust 21, 2012 at 8:19 AM

I am not a regular here on GLIAS but then you had an intrigue week right before RWA and I have come back every few days. I really like your blog and format. Here are my answers to your survey:

    1) Since I haven't been a follower that long I can't think of an author I read that you haven't hosted.

    2) From what I have seen you guys cover all the genres very well.

    4) Typically I read the blurb unless it's one of my auto buy authors.

    5) I recently enjoyed Julie Miller's Kansas City Cowboy. I know you featured her a few weeks ago. But the book was great!

I look forward to all the coming blogs!

    2. Thanks for the shout-out, Laura! I'm pleased to hear you enjoyed KANSAS CITY COWBOY.

I had a lot of fun blogging here. The interview questions the hosties asked made it fun and easy. I'd love to come back sometime.

  7. 1) Is there an author you love who you would like us to approach to be our guest that we haven't hosted in the past?

    Meg Cabot and Julia Quinn

    2) Is there a genre we're not bringing you that you would like to see more of?

    Hmm, not sure.

    3) Have any of the blogs opened your eyes to a genre that you might never have read before?

    No, I'm pretty well read.

    4) What makes you pick up a book and continue reading? The cover, the blurb, opening page? Other?

The cover always attracts the attention first, but a good blurb and excerpt really sell the book.

  9. I really like visiting GLIAS because of the variety of posts and genre of authors. Usually the authors will be new to me and other times I am already familiar with their books but do like learning new things about them or their current releases.

I read all sub-genres of romances and the variety this blog offers is what appeals to me. Everything from romantic suspense, historical and contemporary keep things fresh.

    1. I already like the authors you have invited to the blog thus far. I like that it features both well-established and debut authors.I wouldn't mind seeing authors featured who may not have a current release out. They can talk about their backlist, perhaps their backlist is being re-issued in digital formats or it would be nice to give them that idea ;) I mention this because some of my new favorites have been long-published books by authors no longer writing. I always like finding more of these treasures.

    2. I already like the different genres you feature.

    3. Historicals and contemporaries are still one of my fav and I never tire of seeing more of these books. I wouldn't mind seeing more Western historicals.

    4. The cover is the first thing that catches my attention but it's the blurb that really helps me decide to read a book or not.

    5. The last book I couldn't put down was Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers.

Thank you to the GLIAS team for enabling me to discover so many authors and books :) I like what you are currently doing. I would welcome non-interview posts as well such as recommnedation posts, book features, your favorites etc.

  10. #5 Anything by Julie Miller. I really enjoyed her latest Kansas City Cowboy.

This is the first time I have been here so will have to pay attention.

  11. 1) I like the mix that have been on the blog so far. I like that you host big authors and debut authors.

    2) I think you have covered all of the genres I like and you've done it well.

    3) Yes. I have recently started reading a bit more of contemporary and found some of the blog posts helped me in choosing some books.

    4) The cover is the first thing that makes me pick up a book. From there, it just has to have a blurb that grabs me. Once I start reading I just have to feel connected to the story and the characters. If I don't feel a connection then I don't keep reading. With the amount of books on my TBR pile I just can't afford to keep reading a book that I feel nothing for.

    5) Lord and Lady Spy by Shana Galen, Forever and a Day by Jill Shalvis and Lover Awakened by JR Ward.

  13. 1) I love Cherie Priest and Jennifer Estep, I'd love to see either one or both on the blog.

    2) I really enjoy Steampunk and SciFi Romance, but I like the genres you feature.

    3) I discovered Steampunk from blogs, definitely.

    4) Usually the blurb and the opening pages get me interested in a book.

    5) Any of Jennifer Estep's Elemental Assassin books, Cherie Priest's Bloodshot and Hellbent, Kevin Hearne's Iron Druid series.

  14. I always enjoy stopping by GLIAS, you all do such a wonderful job with the blog. It was a lot of fun what you did with the RITA celebration. And as others have noted the Steampunk posts are soooo much fun to read. So, yeah. your site is fun! Looking forward to what you come up with next!

1- I would like to see Lila DiPasqua, she writes some steamy fairy tales, but really you have had so many amazing authors recently it seems like you have the bases covered!

2- You have a great variety of genres, I enjoy a variety myself so it seems there is always some new book for me to find out about here. I really don't read much YA, so if your slim there I don't notice it.

3- I try about any kind of genre, though you have brought to my attention a couple mysteries and inspirationals that I would otherwise not have noticed. (thanks!!)

4- The cover will snag my attention. But it is the reviews I read and the blurb that make me really want to pick up a book.

5- One?? How bout a few: Shadowfever, Shadows Before the Sun (hmm, do I have something for shadows?), Moonglow, Warlord...so many.

  17. a long time reader of historical romance (with no interest in the other sub-genres) I tried & started to also read paranormal, sci-fi & m/m romances after reading (including reviews & excerpts) about them in blogs.

while a cover may get me to pick up a book, the big seller is the blurb -- if it doesn't sound interesting, I'm not likely to buy unless it's an author I really like or excerpts/reviews/interviews online have piqued my interest in the book.

couldn't put down: Shannon Butcher's Sentinal Wars series; Elizabeth Hoyt's books; Moira Rogers Bloodhounds series -- just to name a few :)
