Get Lost With Lexi Post

Folks, help me welcome a writer friend of mine who recently sold her first book! I'm so proud of her for sticking with her goal and seeing her dream come true! And now, here's your chance to get to know her....

WHO IS LEXI POST?

Lexi Post spent years in higher education taking and teaching courses about classical literature. From the Medieval work "The Pearl" to the 20th century American epic The Grapes of Wrath, from War and Peace to the Bhagavad Gita, she's read, studied, and taught great classic literature.

But Lexi's first love is romance novels. In an effort to marry her two first loves, she started writing erotic romance inspired by the classics and found she loved it.  Lexi feels there is no end to the romantic inspiration she can find in great classic literature.

Lexi lives with her husband and cat in the Caribbean where gorgeous sunsets, warm weather, and driving on the left are the norm.

MASQUE

Rena Mills plans to turn an abandoned abbey into a haunted bed-and-breakfast to prove she can be successful without her ex-fiancé. What she finds inside is Synn MacAllistair, the distinguished, self-proclaimed Ghost Keeper. Her dreams soon fill with sexual cravings for him. But are they dreams?

Synn’s betrayal wars with her compassion for her ghostly friends. Torn, she must make a choice between her financial security and freeing seventy-three trapped souls. Either way, she could lose her Synn.

WHAT’S UP NEXT FOR LEXI?

I plan to submit to my editor this month, and I hope she likes it, To Bea Rappaccini which is inspired by Nathaniel Hawthorne’s short story “Rappaccini’s Daughter.” Only my Bea Rappaccini must have sex to expel the poisons her body produces. Either that or die. Unfortunately, her poisons also make men extremely ill and she has unintentionally sent one into a coma! So when she falls for Zach, things get interesting.

AND NOW FOR THE Q & A:

ALEXA: Why did you choose the classics to inspire your erotic romances?

LEXI: I’ve always loved reading and my father was an English major so I was pretty much destined to read great literature. I was an English major in all my degrees and I still teach literature today. There was only one thing missing from all the wonderful literature I read . . . a happy ending. My instinct for romance wanted the happy ending, so when I decided to write erotic romance, I thought why not give my favorites a happy ending only in today’s world? At first I was a bit concerned that a few authors may turn over in their graves, but if I just one person decided to re-read the original story before reading mine, maybe they could forgive me.

ALEXA: How often do you get lost in a story?

LEXI: All the time! When I’m reading, I could experience an earthquake and not realize it. I tune everything out . . . if it’s a good romance novel.

ALEXA: What’s your favorite fairy tale?

LEXI: Beauty and the Beast. I love the idea of a woman falling in love with a hero because of who he is and not because of how he looks.

ALEXA: What sound or noise do you love?

LEXI: I love silence. I know, very strange in a day of iPods and MP3 players. But the fact is, I enjoy the calmness of quiet and my own thoughts. Much easier to create characters that way. Of course, living only 50 feet of sand from the Caribbean ocean means that I have come to love the sound of the waves lapping at the shore.

ALEXA: What turns you off like nothing else?

LEXI: People who live in this world and simply take from it, never add to it, and suck away life from others.

ALEXA: Can you tell us about a real-life hero you've met?

LEXI:Yes. I married him. No, really. He was military police in the Air Force and became a sharp shooter and a guard for generals. Then he was an EMT before becoming a fire fighter. As a Fire Chief he never lost a man. On his off-time, I have witnessed him run into two burning buildings and single-handedly get the fire under control. He’s also stubbornly honorable and a real rule stickler. Just ask the Coast Guard guys he’s working with now J In addition, he swept me off my feet in Scotland, sings my praises to everyone he meets, and to this day cooks me dinner every night. That’s beyond my definition of a real-life hero.

ALEXA: Fairy Tale or Action Adventure?

LEXI: Either one as long as it has a happy ending. I will no longer read books or watch movies that don’t end happily. There is enough heart ache and horror in our reality. I see no reason to spend my entertainment time dwelling on that.

ALEXA: What is your biggest vice?

LEXI: Ice cream.

ALEXA: What do you do to unwind and relax?

LEXI: The closest I get to unwinding is lying on the beach in the warm Caribbean sun. The only reason I say closest is because that is where a lot of my story scenes happen in my head, so I’m not sure that’s relaxing. I used to relax in a hot tub, but don’t own one anymore L The fact is, when I want to relax, I go to sleep. I can sleep anywhere at any time.

ALEXA: What would you say is your most interesting quirk?

LEXI: I don’t know if it is a quirk, but it is something that people know me for and makes them smile. I wear very bright colors, usually in solids with hats and shoes/boots to match. For my professional photo as an erotic romance author, I pulled out a suit I had deep in my closet because I wanted to look serious. I’m not sure it worked. I still have my 5 year-old looking nose and dimples.
