"I beat you. Twice. No magic, and I still beat you. And that was when I didn't know what I was doing." I smiled, cold as the winter sky outside. "Imagine what I'm capable of now."

As her father returns from prison and the Seraphim regroup, war breaks out in both her worlds. And Mo isn't the only one with secrets to hide and choices to make. The more she struggles to keep her magic and mortal lives separate, the deadlier the consequences. In the end, Mo must risk everything—her life, her heart, her future—or lose it all.

Life was different in the Before: before the Ticks began devouring humans in a deadly swarm across America; before the surviving young people were rounded up and quarantined “for their own protection.” These days, we know what those quarantines are—holding pens where human blood is turned into more food for the Ticks. Surrounded by electrical fences, most kids try to survive the Farms by turning on each other…
And when trust is a thing of the past, escape is nearly impossible.
Lily and her twin sister Mel have a plan. Though Mel can barely communicate, her autism helps her notice things no one else notices—like the portion of electrical fence that gets turned off every night. Getting across won’t be easy, but as Lily gathers what they need to escape, a familiar face appears out of nowhere, offering to help…

Carter was a schoolmate of Lily’s in the Before. Managing to evade capture until now, he has valuable knowledge of the outside world. But like everyone on the Farm, Carter has his own agenda, and he knows that behind the Ticks is an even more dangerous threat to the human race…

Ismae’s most important assignment takes her straight into the high court of Brittany—where she finds herself woefully under prepared—not only for the deadly games of intrigue and treason, but for the impossible choices she must make. For how can she deliver Death’s vengeance upon a target who, against her will, has stolen her heart.
PUSHING THE LIMITS
Katie McGarry
No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with "freaky" scars on her arms. Even Echo can't remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everything to go back to normal.
But when Noah Hutchins, the smoking-hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket, explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo's world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible.

Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. And Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she'll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE YOUNG ADULT MOVIE?
I'm so excited for the RITAs this year--so many wonderful books. Waving ecstatically to my Golden Heart sister Erica -- you're a RITA girl now. Woot! And Katie, Robin and Emily: what fabulous books. Good luck to all of you!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you, Liz! Hope I get to see you in Atlanta -- I miss you so!
DeleteThanks, GLIAS Ladies, for featuring the finalists! See you in a week!
Thanks, Liz! And thanks for featuring the books today. What fun!
DeleteI love Grave Mercy and Pushing the Limits... Haven't read the others though. I really enjoy Clueless for YA movie... It's old but it's still funny!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to all the finalists and a special thanks to Emily who's giving a grand giveaway to our readers.

These all sound so wonderful! I think I've found some new authors to read. Love it!
ReplyDeleteAnswer to the question: the Hunger Games. Now, gosh I just Love the premise of Farm. Creepy, chilling and intriguing! They all sound like great reads! Congrats...

Love love loved Pushing the Limits and have the sequels.
ReplyDeleteAs for favorite YA movie...I'm thinking A Walk to Remember. There might be one I like better, but that's the first one that came to mind.
Love, love, love the byline: Why be a sheep, when you can be the wolf? Not sure what that says about me...but it resonates. LOL. Can't wait to read Grave Mercy. Good luck to all the nominees!
ReplyDeleteOh, and my favorite young adult movies: Stand By Me and Clueless.
ReplyDeleteI also "love, love, love" STAND BY ME. ~Angi
ReplyDeleteNow that my daughter is slmost 15, she loves YA books. Congrats to all the nominees.
ReplyDeleteFavorite YA movie? Gawd, that's tough! Maybe Sixteen Candles? But also maybe The Breakfast Club. So many great possibilities, right?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to all the RITA Young Adult nominees. You all rock. My favorite movie, well if you can call it that is Perfect Pitch!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the finalists!!! Not sure what my favorite YA movie was. I enjoyed The Hunger Games but also Twlight, but the books were better. I entered under the name of Virginia.
ReplyDeleteLove this category and gosh each one of these books look great. Many congratulations, gals!

My favorite young adult movie is from the 80's, The Breakfast Club.
ReplyDeleteTwilight of course. :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite recent YA movie was The Hunger Games.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to all of the nominees! As for my favourite YA movie, there are too many to choose from, but two of them are The Breakfast Club and 10 Things I Hate About You.
ReplyDeletePercy Jackson The Lightning Thief
ReplyDeleteI like Rick Riordan's series of young Olympians.
Not sure just what I would classify as a Young Adult movie -- perhaps WarGames with Matthew Broderick and Ally Sheedy; newer one: Twilight. But I'm not sure I'd call them "favorite".
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the nominees ---
