MEET SARAH ANDRE
Sarah Andre is a 2014 and 2011 GH® Finalist in Romantic Suspense. She is an active member of SWFRW, WHRWA, NWHRWA, KOD, TGN and WRW chapters. When she’s not writing she’s volunteering for these chapters, playing with her (very naughty) Pomeranian puppies or exercising like a demented fool. Sarah lives in Southwest FL with her husband of 18 years.
Nan: Holy cow that's a lot of chapters you belong to. Thank you for being to active!
Let's talk about TALL, DARK and DAMAGED - Book 1 in your DAMAGED HEROES series. Release date is June 3, 2016.
THE STORY BLURB
His Life Changed in a
Heartbeat
Disinherited as a teen, Devon Ashby returns home twelve
years later as a ruthless CEO, brilliant at negotiating deals, but emotionally
stunted. In an instant all he’s struggled to build implodes. Amid the turmoil
of saving his company from a hostile takeover, his engagement to a business
partner’s high-society daughter hits the rocks. Compounding his troubles, he
encounters his high school sweetheart, whose heart he smashed. The
vulnerability she awakens leaves him at greater risk than all the crises he
faces.
Her Dream Job May Get
Her Killed
While restoring art in a billionaire’s private gallery,
Hannah Moore is unwittingly drawn into the dysfunctional family’s confidences.
When she discovers the rich developer behind her and her sick aunt’s eviction
is the family’s black-sheep son—the lover she’s never gotten over—her desire
turns to fury. Always one to avoid conflict, Hannah must stand up to Devon and
the growing menace of someone who thinks she knows too much.
A Decades-Old Secret
Turns Deadly
When a family member is murdered, Devon and Hannah become
ensnared in sibling greed, festering jealousy, and a tragic secret that’s
divided the family. Amid their reigniting passion they race to expose the
killer before they become the next victims in this cat-and-mouse game of
survival.
Nan: Sounds as thrilling as your first book! And I love the cover.
PRE-ORDER THE BOOK
A LIGHTING ROUND OF Q&A WITH SARAH ANDRE
NAN: How often do you get lost in a story?
SARAH: Too often! If the novel is great I’ll do little else the rest of the
day. No errands, no making dinner, no exercise, and very little attention given
to hubby and dogs. The more riveting the story, the more I’m agitated at being
interrupted and having to put the book down. And a truly exceptional novel
makes me miss the characters for days after I finish reading it.
Nan: Oh boy - an author's dream reader!
NAN: Is there a playlist you’d recommend for reading
your latest release?
SARAH: There will be! I did a playlist for my first novel, Locked, Loaded and Lying and it was crazy-fun putting together. I chose a song not just based on a chapter but on each POV in sequential order in a chapter! It’s up on my website: http://www.sarahandre.com/fun-stuff.html
My plots tend to be based on edgy heroes, so some of the songs are R-rated, but I made sure to note them on the playlist. I am ALL over listening to lyrics and dreaming up mini plots to go with them. (In fact watching music videos ruins the song for me, because I have my own daydream of the singer/band/storyline.)
NAN: What
sound or noise do you love?
SARAH: Ocean
waves (I know, real original, right?) J We moved from
hectic, noisy Houston to Southwest FL in Sept, 2014, and I was adamant that we
choose a house on the Gulf…until I saw the price tags. L But my second favorite sound is NONE- complete
silence, and we bought a beautiful house overlooking a serene marsh and pond.
No neighbors too close and most are snowbirds, so I have 6 months of being a
hermit…55K tropical acres with only a handful of year-rounders! I can walk my
dogs for 45 minutes and not come across a soul. (Great writing retreat!)
Nan: Looks incredible and tranquil!
NAN: Do you read reviews of your books? If so, do you
pay any attention to them, or let them influence your writing?
SARAH: You know, I’ve talked so
many writer-friends off the ledge when they’ve gotten a poor review that I
decided when I got published I wouldn’t read them. Although oddly—I’m obsessed
with the number of reviews I receive.
I guess it’s important to me that people respond to my novel enough to leave a review, not what they say. I’m
confident enough in the finished work I publish that if someone doesn’t like a
character or my voice I completely respect that. No hard feelings.
NAN: What
are the next five books on your ‘to be read’ pile?
SARAH: Well,
I’d say anything by Kristan Higgins but I’m up-to-date and she’s not writing
fast enough! J
Tyed
by L.J. Shen, because a
friend turned me on to her novel: Sparrow, and I went nuts for it! Tyed is the
only other book she has out, which I bought the second I finished Sparrow.
Rush,
by Shae Ross, because I love
the way her heroes act and speak. Very authentic, IMO and when I read her books
I get pings of jealousy. Wish I could capture an alpha hottie like she does.
Pretty
Girls, by Karin Slaughter, because she’s
one of my all-time favs and I haven’t read this one yet. (Saving it as a reward
for when I finish my next story.) Very gritty, realistic police procedurals,
one of the most riveting authors out there today.
After
You by Jojo Moyes, because it’s
the June Book Club choice and I was tapped to lead the discussion. (Which,
according to the members means I have to read Me Before You first.)
Nan: I'm constantly amazed by author names that I haven't heard of. There are so many wonderful writers out there!
NAN'S GOTTA ASK: Is
there a “Blooper” in your story (it may have been changed before printing)?
SARAH'S GOTTA ANSWER: Funny
you should ask- I have never told anyone this: there is a HUGE blooper at the
end of Locked, Loaded and Lying. For years writers have warned me that if I
have an error I’ll get tons of nasty emails. If that’s so, NO ONE has picked up
on this mistake. And I mean, it’s HUGE! It came to me at 3am a few months after
the debut release. I sat up in bed and screamed “OMFG!” J
I’ll
keep waiting. I’m not outing what it is.
Nan: I didn't catch it! It must be because the ending is so exciting!

Great to have you here, Sarah !
ReplyDeleteWelcome Sarah!
ReplyDelete(Sorry I messed up the posting!) High school sweethearts. Hummmm. There's nostalgia, embarrassment and fond memories. Enough said!
Let me say that one of my college guys called and left a message for me...
ReplyDeleteMy 14 year old erased the message so I couldn't call him back...
LOL
That makes me laugh! And what a great prompt for a writing group.
DeleteNow I'm going to have to go back and figure out your blooper!! And, the new book sounds fabulous!! Can't wait to read it. I love how you've taken the element of the man carrying the woman into the new cover... Very cool.
ReplyDeleteI didn't have a serious boyfriend in high school, but my first college boyfriend, I'm still friends with on FB and I look back with fondness but relief things didn't work out!
This book sounds fantastic, Sarah! I can't wait to read it--and the cover's awesome. That picture--is that your house? Do you have an INDOOR POOL? Overlooking paradise?! Lucky girl!
ReplyDeleteYes, that's my lanai overlooking a waterfall pool and then a pond and marsh in the backyard. And yes, I'm the luckiest woman in the world! Thanks for commenting, Erika!
DeleteNo high school sweetie. First college sweetheart I broke up with and don't know where he is now.
ReplyDeleteMary! It's the era of social media, start stalking!!
Delete;)
Hi Sarah! I love the picture of your home. And the new cover!! I met my husband in May of my senior year of high school, so definitely fond memories!
ReplyDeleteHow totally cool, Carrie! I was way too immature to hold onto a guy that early.
DeleteMy first crush was with a guy that worked for my father. Then he was drafted and shortly thereafter was accidentally killed during boot camp. I was out of school for two years before meeting the next one, on a blind date. I was married to him for 42 years. Your a new author to me and this sounds like a great story.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Brenda. Hope you enjoy the story!
DeleteGorgeous cover, Sarah, and the book sounds as exciting as the first one. And we sure miss you in Houston!
ReplyDeleteMiss you too, but the visit to FL still stands! :)
DeleteLove the cover and the teaser. This one sounds like a book after my own heart. I LOVE stories about lovers reunited after many years, so I can hardly wait to read it! As for the dark secrets from high school...he he he. I'll never tell!
ReplyDeleteI did not have a high school sweetheart... enjoyed the Q&A... I am really curious about that blooper. greenshamrock ATcoxDOTnet :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fantastic book, Sarah! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteLove the cover and the blurb. Sounds right up my alley. High school was a dark blur and I'll never tell
ReplyDeleteI had a middle school and into high school and after high school boy and talked to him a few years ago and he still is a boy. I am happy that it didn't work out with him although at the time i thought he was the one to be. Looks like a great book Sarah and thanks for coming over to Angi's site and talking about it!
ReplyDeleteLooks great, Sarah :) Love the storyline :) And yes, my high school guy was all I'd thought he'd be. Then I married him. Things changed. That's all I'm sayin' :) I'm remarried, and that adventure has definitely been a whirlwind, good enough to write about. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the cover AND the title. Sounds like a fantastic book! And now I have to re-read your last novel to find that error!!!
ReplyDeleteI did not have a high school sweetie. Did not start dating until I was in college.
ReplyDeleteJust so everyone knows - Sarah is having trouble getting her comments on the blog! But she is seeing them! (I never thought Sarah was a bot!)
ReplyDeleteReally enjoyed this interview, Nan and Sarah! I love the dark and stormy cover and the sound of the story. First loves reunited is one of my very favorite tropes. My own high school sweetheart was (and is) an amazing person. I, however, was a mess! LOL. We are still friends, and both happily married (to other people.) :)
ReplyDeleteWow.. what a fabulous cover! I love the sexy guy! I was very close to my first love. He and I grew up together... toddlers to dating as Freshman but we lost touch then reconnected after my first child was born. It was like we never parted, then we lost touch again... I miss him terribly and would love to reconnect again... maybe someday!
ReplyDeleteAnother fantastic cover, Sarah! Congratulations :)
ReplyDeleteI am so excited to finally see this book published!
ReplyDeleteAs far as high school loves go, when I was a junior in high school I in love with a college boy. And when I was nineteen I married him. We've been married almost 30 years!!
Great post, ladies! I'm really curious what the "oops" was! My high school sweetie is my soul mate and hubby, so definitely warm memories for me! ❤️
ReplyDeleteI didn't have a serious boyfriend in high school, but met my first love in college and it was the big one. We dated for 3 years and were promised to one another. When he broke up with me, I truly thought I would shatter into a million pieces. I stayed in New Orleans for 2 more years and we kept "seeing" each other even though we weren't dating. My heart couldn't take it anymore so after he spent the weekend at my apartment, he came back on Wednesday and I was gone- furniture and everything! He tracked me down in Malaysia where I went to teach (Can't run much further than that) and we stayed in touch. After I arrived back in the US, he came to see me...fast forward...I went to see him just before I got married and have always wondered what I would have done had he made a bobble. Long, complicated, all encompassing, and neither one of us were ever truly able to say goodbye even though it all is for the best. He calls me once in a blue moon to check on me to this day.
ReplyDeletedon't think about it

I married my high school sweetheart. On our wedding day I repeatedly tried to call him to see if he had picked up the wedding license. He had forgotten and we just postponed it a day. The thing I remembered the most was he was so nervous he had on a brown sock and a blue sock and he was wearing black.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your giveaway. The book sounds great.

ReplyDeleteBinnie Syril Braunstein
Another thrilling story and the cover .... oh, my, fanning my face. Makes me think bad boy lure! You always make it fun, for this little history buff, to jump into contemporary.
ReplyDeleteGreat cover, Sarah, and the book sounds intriguing. My high school sweetheart? Very fond memories! ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat cover...story looks even better!
ReplyDeleteHS sweethearts: one was a heartbreaker; I married the other, so a lifetime of way beyond fond :-)
My high school sweetheart is my husband and we've been together for 40 years next October (married 36 years next month). Lots of drama in HS, but we stuck it out. :D TALL, DARK and DAMAGED sounds like a good read. I love a damaged hero!
ReplyDeleteFond memories! We were KIDS. We knew nothing but man if we didn't think we knew it all! :)
ReplyDeleteI saw him again many years later when I went home to see my parents. He came to visit and we had a great time talking about the old days. I guess you would call it fond memories.
