Today I have a special
treat: Thankful Tuesday Giveaway.
I'm so thankful for you, our readers, and for my guests, and for the books we've shared that I've put together a little GLIAS scavenger hunt.
For a prize, I’m giving
away a turkey… What I mean is, a picture of a turkey on an Amazon gift card
worth $10. That might not buy you a turkey, but it will get you a few good
books!

In October, New York Times
Bestselling Author Linda Broday came by to talk about her love of Texas
and a brand new series that starts with her latest novel, To Love A Texas Ranger.
The series
revolves around a Texas family dynasty that she compared to Bonanza's
Cartwrights.
What is the name of her new series?
Men of Legend
Kaki Warner shared her
latest book, Texas Tall, and
talked to us about what it means to love someone: “Loving someone means you
give up total self-absorption and include another person in your life, warts
and all. In other words, it’s not only about you anymore, so get over yourself.
It means you accept the other person as he/she is, not as you wish he/she could
be. You have to learn to trust, to forgive, to support, and to wisely pick your
battles. Keep your expectations real, your demands reasonable, and your
promises true. And if you don’t get back the same respect, honor and love you
offer, then kick him /her to the curb and move on. Life’s too short and you
deserve to have the best one possible.”
Kaki and her husband just
celebrated a milestone anniversary. Do you know which one?
50 years!
50 years!
Agnes Alexander has 13
Western Historical Romances in print. She gave us a sneak peek at her
latest book, Xenia’s Renegade.
Prior to writing historical romance, she
wrote 26 books, ranging from children’s books to non-fiction.
Do you know what
name she wrote under?
Lynette Hall Hampton
Award-winning author
Jacqui Nelson has been a regular guest on
Get Lost In A Story. She and I
met back in 2010 when we were both finalists for the RWA's prestigious Golden
Heart award for Historical Romance. Her writing has won numerous awards,
and it's no surprise. She has an amazing talent and a unique voice well suited
for Western historical romance.
Jacqui credits her love for the Western
genre to two things. Do you know what they are?
Classic Western movies and growing up on a cattle ranch.
This year I launched a
brand new series, The Bride Train, which follows women who answer a
railroad advertisement seeking single young ladies to become brides for
settlers on the Western frontier.
What are the names of the heroines in
the first three books?
(Hint: the names are part of the titles)
This summer, Prairie Rose
Publications released a special box set, A Kiss To Remember.
Five authors
penned stories about a hired gun, a preacher, an outlaw, an orphan and a
firefighter, who find love where they least expect it.
Which of these
stories is about a time-traveler?
Yesterday's Flame
Bestselling author Amanda
McIntyre came by to introduce us to her latest Contemporary Western, No Strings Attached.
This book is part
of a spin-off series from Amanda's popular Kennison Legacy, and features a ranch where people come to find
hope and healing.
What is the name of this series?
Last Hope Ranch
USA Today Bestselling Author
Rosanne Bittner stopped in September 4, release day for the third book in her
Outlaw series, Love’s Sweet Revenge.
Her first book about these two
lovers, Outlaw Hearts, was written more than twenty years ago. Last year,
she released the sequel Do Not Forsake Me, and she has a fourth novel
planned.
What are the names of her hot-loving, long-suffering hero and heroine?
Jake and Miranda Harkner
That was fun, yes? I’ll post the answers to these questions Friday, along with the name of the winner of my Thankful Tuesday drawing.

DeleteI'm always surprised at, well, how surprised some folks are that there are so many women Western writers. They shouldn't be. Most traditional Westerns have some degree of romance in them. I was doubly surprised myself with how popular The Hardest Ride is with women. It boils down the Marta, a 16-year old mute Mexican girl who set her sights on a good man and she'd get him one way or the other.
ReplyDeleteI think traditional Westerns are very romantic. There may not be happy endings, but look at the hero's. You have both romantic and tragic heroes in Westerns. You generally have love lost or love found woven through the adventure. Thanks for coming by and commenting, Gordo!
