THE STORY BLURB
From
the very first touch…
The moment suave businessman
Dante Sanderson brushes hands with Lanelle Murphy, he can't get her out of his
head. The guarded beauty resists all of his polished attempts at seduction. To
soften the pain in her past, she's dedicated her life and family fortune to
helping others, not chasing sexy millionaires like Dante.
Something
about Lanelle makes Dante want to open his heart like never before. He knows
their encounters are destiny. Lanelle is sure their sparks mean another
heartache is in the making. Yet her cherished new project—a state-of-the-art
neonatal unit—brings them together. From charity ball dances to strolls in
Milan, desire pushes her…right into his arms. But will Lanelle be able to seize
this sweet second chance at love?
EXCERPT
Without
warning, Dante invaded her space and tilted her into a dip. Gripping the
shoulders of his tuxedo, she scowled into his smiling face as the blood rushed
to her head. Before she could chastise him, he brought her upright.
She hated surprises. Being out
of control ranked number one on her never-to-do list. Dante threatened all of
that. From the few stories Vanessa had told her about him, they were as
different as a waltz and a tango. “Talk.”
Should she be feeling the deep
rumble of his laughter against her chest? When had he pulled her so close? She
tried to create space between them. His hand splayed at her back made it
impossible.
“Do you ever loosen up?”
She snapped her head up. Even
though she was wearing stilettos, he loomed over her. “You’ve met me, what? All
of twice? You have no idea who I am.”
He leaned in close, his breath
tickling her ear as he whispered, “But I’d like to.”
All thoughts of why she’d come on the dance floor escaped as
he pressed his cheek against hers. For once in her life Lanelle lost herself in
the gentle sway of a man’s embrace.
Nana Prah first discovered romance in a book
from her eight grade summer reading list and has been obsessed with it ever
since. Her fascination with love inspired her to write in her favorite genre
where happily-ever-after is the rule.
She is a published author of contemporary, multicultural romances. Her books
are sweet with a touch of spice. When she’s not
writing she’s, over-indulging in chocolate, enjoying life with friends and
family, and tormenting nursing students into being the best nurses the world
has ever seen.
LET'S CHAT!
Lara:
How often to you get lost in a story?
Nana: Almost every time I open a book. Especially
when it’s really good. In my former book reviews I would explain how I wanted
to be a secret spy, Bollywood actress, carpenter, superhero, engineer, or
stripper all because I had gotten so into the characters lives. Getting lost in
a novel is my favorite part about reading fiction.
Lara:
What was the first story you remember writing?
Nana: My first full length romance was
more of a suspense, or so I thought. When I gave it to an author friend to
read, she tore it apart, which was a good thing because the suspense part
seemed to be more inside my head instead of the story. I have learned so much
since writing that romance. Someone told me I should revise it. I laughed
because the novel is so flawed that it would just be easier to write a new one. [Lara: I can relate to that!]
Lara: Do you write
while listening to music? If so what kind?
Nana: I love to dance, to all kinds of
music, I’ll sway to the slow and shimmy to the fast. With that said, I’ll admit
that I don’t write while listening to music, only because I lose focus and
start grooving. [Lara: Me too! :)]
Lara:
Which of your characters would you most/least to invite to dinner, and why?
Nana: I would invite Dante from A
Perfect Caress, just because he’s so sexy with his bald head, hard-working
nature, loads of money, and fantastic sense of humor. He’s my kind of man.
Unfortunately( or is it fortunate?) he’s Lanelle’s type of man, too.
Lara:
What drew you to write in the genre(s) you do?
Nana: I’m a huge fan of romance. In
high school I worked in a library and when the librarian once asked why people
read romances, I was too shocked to speak. Why doesn’t everyone read romances is a better question? I write them because
I’m addicted and want others to fall in love with them, too.
Lara:
What three things are, at this moment, in your heroine’s purse, satchel,
reticule, weapons belt or amulet bag (whatever she carries)?
Nana: Lipstick, which I actually
mention in the novel when she’s trying to get Dante’s niece to slap some on,
car keys, and I wish I could say throwing stars, but her phone will have to do.
Lara: What is your
hero’s “kryptonite” – in other words, what will bring him instantly to his
knees?
Nana: Injury to his marble. There is no
euphemism here. Dante is obsessed with marble, especially from Carrara. It’s
how he makes his money and where his passion (other than his family and
Lanelle) lies.
Lara:
What’s your favorite “love” word?
Nana: Amore – I know it means love in
Italian, but it reminds me of the song That’s
Amore – “When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie that’s…” Plus
everything is more romantic in Italian.
Lara’s GOTTA ASK: What
are the next five books on your ‘to be read’ pile?
Nana’s GOTTA ANSWER: 1. Captive by Kiru Taye – actually I just
finished reading it today and thought it warranted a mention.
2. Requiem for the Living (The Reanimation Files Book #2) by A.J. Locke
who is fast becoming one of my favorite paranormal authors
3. A Chase for Christmas by Candace Shaw – There’s nothing like a
Christmas romance to bring in the season of giving (and weight gain)
4. Silk and Scandal by Cassandra Dean – A historical novella which I’ve
been meaning to read for ages
5. All He Wants for Christmas by Elle Wright – The first three books
were delicious
WHERE CAN YOU FIND NANA?
WHERE CAN YOU BUY A PERFECT CARESS?
WHAT'S UP NEXT?
I’m working on book two for Kimani. I can’t give
you any details yet, but it will involve Miguel Astacio, Lanelle’s younger, fun
loving brother so stay tuned. [Lara: Yay!]

The city of romance.
DeleteCongratulations on your debut book. I hope you do well.
ReplyDeleteFor a romantic getaway, it would depend on the mood I was in. I would love a week in New York City or Chicago. There is so much to see and do. On the other hand, a week in Alaska or the jungle of Costa Rica would be awesome. Our tastes cover a lot of things and we enjoy them all.
Thank you. So for you, romantic getaways are more of an adventure. I like it. Jungle of Costa Rica would be cool.

ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind staying in a hotel on Giudecca Island, Venice. There is one that used to be a flour mill, and it's rather isolated.
