Western Romance at its BEST

READ A LITTLEBUY THE BOOK
A FAMILY FOR THE RANCHER
Cowboys to Grooms Book #1

PART SOLDIER. PART SURVIVOR. ALL COWBOY.

Nash Sullivan doesn’t need help from anyone. Not his father, not his brothers and sure as heck not from a physical therapist—even a darn feisty one like Kelsey Summers. He lost his leg during his overseas deployment and he just wants to be left alone. Besides, the last thing a woman like Kelsey needs is half a man.

Single mom Kelsey knows all too well that the scars on the inside run the deepest. She needs to move on from her own tragic past, but the Sullivan ranch is starting to feel a little too much like home. And she can’t stop thinking about her wounded—and gorgeous—patient. Could Nash be the cure for her own broken heart?

Award winning author Allison B. Collins is a fifth generation Texan, so it’s natural for her to love all things Western. It’s a tough job to spend evenings writing about cowboys, rodeos, and precocious children, but Allison is willing to do it to bring them all to life. She lives in Dallas with her hero-husband of almost thirty years, who takes great care of her and their four rambunctious cats.

THE Q&A
ANGI: How often do you get lost in a story?
ALLISON: I try to read almost daily. Reading is so important to me. I can escape the mundane world and get lost in history, adventure, romance, a mystery – whatever I happen to be reading that day. For writing, I’ve been known to get so lost in writing that I lose all track of time, and even what day it is. That’s when I know the story is working!

ANGI: What’s your favorite thing about your book’s hero?
ALLISON:  Nash is cranky and angry and wounded, and just wants to be left alone. But he’s immediately drawn to Kelsey, his feisty new physical therapist. And he’s just adorable with Kelsey’s daughter Maddy.  He even lets her put pink bandages with daisies on them on his boo-boos.

ANGI: What’s your favorite movie of all time?
ALLISON:  It’s a toss-up.  Classic movie is “Desk Set” with Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy. Their banter is so amazing, and perfectly cadenced.  Newer movie would have to be “National Treasure” – how exciting would it be to find that amazing treasure trove of history!  (Although I haven’t seen the upcoming “Aquaman” with Jason Momoa yet – that may take the lead! I mean, come on. Have you seen him?)

 ANGI: What’s your perfect day?
ALLISON:  Wake up early in a snowy mountain cabin, settle in front of the fire to write, the kitties curled up around me, my characters running with the story. Then chili cheese omelets for breakfast, more writing, exceeding my goal for the day. Steak for dinner, and snuggle on the couch with my husband and a good movie.

ANGI: Salad or soup?
ALLISON:  Salad, of the Caesar variety, please.

ANGI: Would you put yourself in a Fairy Tale or Action Adventure?
ALLISON:  I’d have to say Fairy Tale.  If I said Action Adventure, my luck I’d end up in Jurassic Park instead of National Treasure.

ANGI: Favorite TV rerun you watch every time you channel surf?
ALLISON:  The Dick Van Dyke show.  I love reruns of the old classic shows!

ANGI: Favorite date night…fancy or at home?
ALLISON:  At home so my date (okay, husband) and I can focus on each other, rather than deal with crowds, traffic, etc.  Ideal meal would be steak, baked potato, asparagus, and anything chocolate for dessert. (Can also have seconds if eating at home!) Then curl up in our recliners for a movie.

ANGI: Champagne or Soda?
ALLISON:  Champagne, of course!

ANGI: The most daring thing you’ve ever done… Care to share?
ALLISON: I volunteered to assist a magician onstage. We visited the Magic Castle in Hollywood, and the magician called me up on stage. It was my skinny year, or I wouldn’t have gone up in front of people!  The magician completely blew me away—and I was watching him like a hawk to see how the tricks were done. Mind. Blown.

ANGI’s GOTTA ASK:  Where is your favorite writing space & why?
ALLISON’S GOTTA ANSWER:  The recliner in our family room.  I’ll write while my husband surfs the ‘net or reads the paper. The chair is big enough for me, my laptop, and usually three, if not all four, of our cats.

FALLING FOR THE REBEL COWBOY
Cowboys to Grooms  book #2
Read a little, Buy the book

Cold sludge oozed and squished beneath Francine Wentworth every time she moved. Can this day get any worse?
A snort broke the silence, and she frowned up at the cowboy standing above her, but he just stared at her—tall, dark and brooding. The epitome of James Dean’s rebel, he silently held out a hand to her.
She tried to sit up, but the mud held tight, and she felt like a pig wallowing around in muck. A lock of hair blew into her face and stuck. She tried to huff it away, but it wouldn’t budge. Wrenching one arm free, she scraped the strand off her face.
She heard a strangled grunt and glanced up at the cowboy. He coughed and rubbed a hand over his mouth. But another strangled sound erupted from him, and he snapped his mouth shut, cleared his throat. Seriously? This guy better not start laughing at me.
Not two seconds later, said guy lost the battle and did start laughing—a deep rumbling laughter that did funny things to her insides. Even though she threw him her best I’m going to kill you glare, it made him hoot even harder until he was gasping for breath.
The guy kept right on at it, and every time she’d think he was done, he’d look at her and start whooping it up again.
“Are you going to help me up or just stand there like an idiot?” she asked, finally pushing herself to a sitting position. The slimy filth slid down the back of her neck, beneath the collar of her blouse, all the way down her spine, making her skin prickle. She reached back and felt her hair hanging in clumpy mats.
Her throat tightened. She hated it when she hit the boiling point, so angry that all she could do was cry. And it didn’t help that this guy was still standing over her, guffawing at her mud-covered misery.
She clenched her fists tight, the wet dirt oozing through her fingers, and without thinking she flung two globs of the stuff straight at him. The mud missed his face and landed on his already-stained white T-shirt. Which only set him off into another round of that rumbling laughter.
That’s it! Scooping up another fistful from the ground, she lobbed it at him. This time her aim was true, and it landed on his cheek.
“Ma’am.” He wiped his hand across his face, smearing it even more. “I’m real sorry, you just—you got a little something on your face.” He gestured to his upper lip.
Great. A mud mustache? She swiped the back of her wrist across her face but knew she’d just made it worse. If this set off another fit from him, she might scream.
“Are you done yet?” she asked.
He wiped his eyes. “Sorry.” He held a dirt-covered hand out to her…a hand with long, strong fingers that could definitely make her scream—in a good way.
    Wait, what?

  3. Hello! Thank you so much for stopping by today.
Hot chocolate and good books are an absolute must for those cold winter days.
It was actually 24 degrees this morning in Dallas!
I'm working on the 3rd book in the series now (Hunter!!), and it's February in Montana. The weather last week was in the 60's, so I had the AC cranked up, a cup of hot chocolate nearby to get in the mood to write a snowy scene.
