Get Lost in this Story, Come Hell or High Desire

COME HELL OR HIGH DESIRE
Entangled Ignite

Misty Dietz

Framed for a series of brutal murders, rebel-turned-CEO Zack Goldman must go to ground. When he discovers that sexy boutique owner Sloane Swift has a shocking gift—terrifying visions that connect her to his mentor’s missing daughter—he can’t believe her refusal to help him. Nor can he believe he’s actually falling for the frustrating woman.

Helping an accused killer ranks low on Sloane’s to-do list, no matter how hot the attraction burns between them. But putting to rest her overwhelming guilt over the missing woman’s fate proves more difficult than she ever imagined. As the real killer locks in on Sloane, Zack will stop at nothing to keep her safe. And as they earn each other’s trust—with danger in hot pursuit—they may just lose their hearts in the process…

A Brief Excerpt

He said nothing, staring into her eyes, watching, marveling, at the drama of emotions shaping her features while she replayed the vision in her mind. One of her hands scraped across his thigh as it fell to the sofa and desire sparked in her eyes.
He smothered a groan. Damn. Her touch was tinder to his dry wood. His fingers dug into the textured linen sofa to stop himself from touching her. He closed his eyes, needing to hide, feeling desperate and completely out of his element.
She was holding her breath, he realized. They both were. Powder kegs. His eyes snapped open. The tip of her tongue darted out to moisten her lips, and his shoulders ached with the effort to hold still.
“Zack?” Her hesitancy calmed him enough so he could slam the door on an erotic visual of easing those teensy shorts down her endless legs. What a dick. As much as he felt like one, he wasn’t an animal.
She stood up and laughed shyly. Cute. As. Hell.
“That was really something, huh?” She brushed her hands down her hips. An enticing little gesture.         “Anchored together in a vision like that is incredibly…intimate. I’ve never shared one before, so I guess we’re sorta bonded. A little. Maybe.”
Bondage. She wasn’t helping to ease his lust haze at all. “Oh great, vision virgins.”
“Not anymore.” Her laughter bubbled up again. He leaned back against the sofa and laced his fingers behind his head, resigning himself to a habitual hard on. “So what did you see?”
She bit her lip, and he nearly lost his no-touching resolve at the quiet appeal in her eyes.
So she feels it, too.

Getting to know Misty Dietz

Misty's love affair with words started in middle school when she penned dark stories set in exotic locales she knew nothing about. In college, her boy-angst spilled over into disturbing reams of poetry. After grad school, real life hit, and the writing went into hibernation until she found her own happily-ever-after with an ultra linear man who is the long-suffering counter-balance to her zig-zagging tendencies. Now, she spends her days writing emotionally complex, adrenaline-fueled stories, teaching Zumba, enjoying her family and friends, and praying her children don't come home with math homework.

Jillian: What’s your favorite fairy tale?
Misty: Shrek – I love how Shrek and Fiona accept each other for who they are – warts and all.
Jillian: What turns you off like nothing else?
Misty: Disrespectful behavior, dishonesty

Jillian: Is there a playlist you’d recommend for reading your latest release?
Misty: Yeppers! I actually have one on YouTube. You can use the arrows on the top of the video to scroll around.

Jillian: Where do you read and how often?
Misty: Wherever I can – in bed, curled up in my favorite chair, in the tub, in the car, in the hammock at the lake. Unfortunately it’s not as often as I’d like now that I’m pubbed and have to do the marketing gig, but I try to finish a book every couple of weeks. Sad, I know!

Jillian: What sound or noise do you love?
Misty: My favorite sound is my children laughing. My next favorite sound is when the loons are calling at the lake – so hauntingly beautiful.

Jillian: Who’s your favorite villain?
Misty: Darth Vader because of his voice. Yummy.
Jillian:  Be honest, when reading 1st person...do you miss the hero’s POV?
Misty: Totally!! But interestingly, more and more books are doing multiple first person POVs in one story. I like those quite a bit.

Misty has a question for commenters: I love the “favorite sound/noise” question, so I’d like to ask the readers the same!

  2. My favorite sound is listening to my new tumble dryer drying my washing, and then listening to the pretty tune that it plays when the clothes are ready.

    1. Hi Diane! I would absolutely love a new dryer so your answer has special meaning, LOL! Does your dryer have options for the sounds?! Never heard of that, but of course I haven't shopped for a new dryer in YEARS! That would be a lovely feature...kind of like plug in your ipod to the dryer and have it bust into your favorite song when ready. Ha! Thanks for stopping by and commenting! :)

  3. Welcome to GLIAS, Misty!

Not sure this is a favorite sound, but right now I go to sleep with my current WIP playlist playing in my head, dream at least one or two of the tunes and wake up with yet another tune playing. It's like the playlist is continuing to play all through the night...like one of those songs that you can't get out of your head, except this is a whole playlist. LOL!

    1. Hi Jillian, thanks so much for having me! Sorry I'm so late to the party - but so happy to be here! I like the idea of your playlist following you into your dreams...I'm sure it's helped you work through some plot issues a time or two. :) And that reminds me, I need to get on my own playlist for the story I'm starting to outline...

  4. Welcome to GLIAS :) Favorite sound or noise... I adore classical music, in particular strings... Human beings are capable of such beauty and creativity, most especially in music. A single refrain can bring tears...amazing.

    1. Thanks for the welcome, Heather! Yes...classical music! Glad to hear I'm not the only one who can sit in a concert hall and wipe the tears away. Music like that is truly universal - something in it can take us to a place that we all understand. And that is indeed a beautiful thing! Thanks so much for chiming in! :)
