The story blurbs:

Possessed by a Warrior (Pub date May 1)

A dazzling dress is wreaking havoc—and costing lives…
The violent death of her uncle sends Chloe Anderson reeling—and rushing to his estate. As coexecutor of Jack's will, she assumes that he has left her something. What she doesn't expect is a bejeweled wedding gown with a note warning her to trust only his business partner—dark, mysterious and sexy Sam Ralston.
Chloe's been burned in love, but never bitten, and there's something about Sam that keeps drawing her in, despite her fears. The attraction is mutual, intense, and it takes all of Sam's willpower to hide his fangs. With Chloe's career at stake and murderous thieves hot on their trail, the vampire vows to protect her. But can he save her from himself?

Possessed by an Immortal (Pub date June 1)

Can a mother in jeopardy melt the heart of a jaded vampire?
After witnessing a murder, Bree Meadows is on the run with her young son. But the bad guys are in hot pursuit. Dropped in the middle of nowhere amid a torrential thunderstorm, things look pretty grim. To make matters worse, her son is in desperate need of medical attention.
Mark Winspear has been alone for too long. When the vampire senses a gorgeous female nearby, he discovers that her swift, selfless courage pulls at his instincts. The doctor has history with the same men who are after Bree—and he's ready for revenge. Working together now, they discover an attraction that might save them both—if they're lucky.

Meet Sharon!

Sharon Ashwood is a novelist, desk jockey and enthusiast for the weird and spooky. She has an English literature degree but works as a finance geek. Interests include growing her to-be-read pile and playing with the toy graveyard on her desk. As a vegetarian, she freely admits the whole vampire/werewolf lifestyle would never work out, so she writes her adventures instead.
Sharon is the winner of the RITA® Award for Paranormal Romance. She lives in the Pacific Northwest and is owned by the Demon Lord of Kitty Badness.

Lara: How often to you get lost in a story?
Sharon: I get frustrated because I don’t have as much time to read as I’d like—and this is a common complaint with authors, because there is never enough time! To me, an hour of uninterrupted reading time is an unheard-of luxury. I found a solution with audio books, because I can listen while I’m walking to work, doing housework, or anything else that doesn’t require that part of my brain. It’s an exciting area of publishing that has really taken off and showcases the skills of a lot of fabulous voice artists. As a result, I can keep up with reading and get through a book or more a week.

Lara: Is writing or story-telling easier for you?
Sharon: Writing. I ramble if I try to tell a story verbally.

Lara: What’s the first thing you do when you finish writing a book?
Sharon: Do my best to put my life back in order. A lot of practical life stuff slides toward the deadline hour. So, it’s clean, pay bills, remind friends I’m still alive, and do laundry.

Lara: If you couldn’t be a writer anymore, what profession would you take up?
Sharon: I have a full-time job as a resource manager, which is basically geeking out over spreadsheets all day. It’s a good balance to a writing career, because artistic lives are brutal financially and emotionally. Although I still ride the highs and lows in both of my jobs, each helps me keep the other in perspective.

Lara: What’s your favorite fairy tale?
Sharon: The Tinder Box. It’s not as well-known as some, but it’s all about being true to your ideals and generous of spirit.

Lara: How is it working with hot guys and sexy women all day?
Sharon: I’m not going to answer that because no matter what I say my co-workers will make my life a living hell.

Lara: What inspires you daily?
Sharon: In terms of writing, I always have stories pressing at me to be told. I’m a story-telling junkie.

Lara: Which of your characters would you most/least like to invite to dinner, and why?
Sharon: That one is easy. My werewolf character, Faran Kenyon, because he’s a fabulous chef and he’ll do the cooking. He’s the joker of the bunch and is in all the books in the Four Horsemen series. His story, Possessed by a Wolf, is the third tale.

Lara: What one thing about your hero drives his heroine crazy? And what one thing about your heroine drives her hero nuts?
Sharon: I’ll pick one from each book.  In Possessed by a Warrior, Sam is very reserved and formal at first. Chloe spends a lot of time trying to crack his façade to find out what he’s really like. Of course he is doing his best to keep a lid on his feelings because he’s got enormous secrets (being a vampire is just the start) and confiding in her will unleash a whole bunch of problems.

In Possessed by an Immortal, Mark is a vampire, a superspy, an ex-assassin—basically one tough customer. And one of the very first things Bree does is pull his own gun on him. It’s just embarrassing. I think that’s why he eventually falls for her. She has the power to catch him off guard, and that’s saying something after all he’s been through.

Lara’s GOTTA ASK: What is your biggest vice?
Sharon’s GOTTA ANSWER:   Probably coffee. I drink way too much of it. Nothing fancy, just plain black java, preferably on a drip feed straight into the vein.

What's next?

I have a novella, Valkyrie’s Conquest coming out July 1, 2014. There’s no cover yet, but here’s the description:
Can a fire-breathing shape-shifter melt a Norse battle maiden's heart?
As a Valkyrie, Tyra was created for one purpose: to reap souls for Odin's army. After centuries of walking among mortal warriors, she finally discovers what it is to want a man during a chance encounter with a dragon in human form.
Bron has no part in the war between the demons and the gods' chosen people—nor does he want one. Finally free from the oppressive rule of the dragon queen, he desires nothing more than his independence. But, when Tyra is betrayed, he finds he has no choice but to take a side in the struggle between good and evil.
Once he joins the battle, Bron is subject to the Fates, whom Tyra serves. Will she defy the will of the gods to spare the dragon she loves?

Then, the Four Horsemen series concludes with Possessed by a Wolf and Possessed by the Fallen (both in 2015)

When archaeologist Keltie Clarke comes across a stunningly strange cave painting during a dig in the Rocky Mountains, she realizes that it's a find that could make her career. But she doesn't know what to make of the man who surprises her as she considers her find….
Larkan is surprised, too. He's a shapeshifter, trained to protect his dragon kin from the outside world. But Keltie is…different. She's a warrior, just like him. And even though it's his role to mate with the dragon queen, Larkan's desire for Keltie provokes a battle between his love and his sovereign lady. What none of them knows is that Keltie is the only one who can see a new future for the dragon tribe.

Sharon wants to know: How do you like your paranormal? Dark and gritty or light and funny?  How grounded in reality do you like it? Is it better if the world is almost like ours, with just a light sprinkling of supernatural, or is it a case of the weirder the better?

  1. I'm happy to run the full gamut with paranormal - obviously not in the same story. It depends upon what I am looking for at the time I suppose. Mostly though I must say I prefer it dark & other worldish.

  2. I don't mind a total escape where the world is totally different than ours..... As for dark vs light... It depends on my mood... I like both...

  4. I like to mix it up when it comes to reading. Each character has their own story to tell and the mood and details of the world around the characters just help make it unique and worth reading. Each of your books sound wonderful and hope to read them soon. Your a new author to me and I just liked your facebook fan page and signed up for your newsletter. Congrats on your books.

  6. The main reason why I like reading any form of fantasy/PNR is that it doesn't need to be grounded in reality :)
I like both dark and light, a lot depends on the writers style.
