Cat Schield Officially Gets Lost

I became Cat Schield's Unsinkable Sister joining her as a 2010 RWA Golden Heart finalist. After some hard work and a bit of recognition winning our GH categories, Cat and I also became Harlequin sisters. Cat is pictured (left) after the 2011 Harlequin party held at the NYC Waldorf Astoria. We took advantage of the staff cleaning their chandelier for pictures.

It's been a privilege watching Cat's career sky-rocket with 4 1/2 star reviews and five sales this past year. You're in for a treat reading her Texas Millionaire series OR any book she's written.

Cat & I also shared a moment as presenters at the 2011 RWA Golden Heart/RITA awards. We’re pictured (left) with Harlequin Romance author and fellow presenter, Barbara Wallace.

CAT ANSWERS the GLIAS Q&A

ANGI: How often to you get lost in a story?

CAT: I spend a lot of time lost in stories, both those I write and those I read. If I’m not thinking about something fictional, I start to worry.

ANGI: What’s your favorite fairy tale?

CAT: Cinderella. I love the rags to riches theme and the spunky orphan who makes good.

ANGI: Where do you read and how often?

CAT: I read all over the place. With apps for Kindle and Nook on my iPad, there’s always a book within reach and I try and read a little bit each day. When I have a couple free hours on the weekend, I love to read in bed. And I listen to books in the car. My daughter and I listen to all sorts of YA books as we travel between home and school.

ANGI: Who’s your favorite villain?

CAT: Anyone portrayed by Alan Rickman. Die Hard, Robin Hood, Harry Potter. Something about the way he brings humor or pathos to a character creates layers and I always end up feeling sympathetic at some point.

ANGI: Is writing or story-telling easier for you?

CAT: Story-telling. I love writing, but there are those days when I can spend an hour on one paragraph. That drives me crazy.

ANGI: What sound or noise do you love?

CAT: A purr. Something about the sound is so relaxing.

ANGI: Fairy Tale or Action Adventure?

CAT: Yes. Okay, you’re going to make me choose. I guess I’d have to go Action Adventure.

ANGI’S GOTTA ASK: Cat, my dear friend, you live in Minnesota, how did you ever develop a love for sailing? And where’s the next place you plan on going?

CAT’S GOTTA ANSWER: Minnesota is the land of 10,000 lakes. We do a lot of boating here. When I was a kid, my parents sent me to camp. That’s where I learned to sail. In my twenties I lived in Florida. My roommate’s best friend had a boat and needed crew when she raced. We had a blast. Back in Minnesota, my best friend’s brother and his best friend have had sailboats forever. I don’t have any definite plans for another sailing adventure, but I’d like to go back to Greece. The charter company we use opened a new base near Athens. But I wouldn’t be apposed to trying Turkey or Croatia.

CAT'S QUESTION FOR YOU:
In A Win-Win Proposition, Missy wagers big in order to win one night with Sebastian. Do you like to gamble? Or are you like me and shy away from games of chance?

A WIN-WIN PROPOSITION is Cat's 2nd Harlequin Desire. You won't want to miss her debut interviews on GLIAS: Millionaires I'd Like to Meddle With; Meddle with a Millionaire & What Do You Get; Maureen Grills Cat; A Million Reasons to Love Cat Schield.

HER SECRET MILLIONAIRE is available as a free download on Cat's website.

I can also relate to the 1 hour on a paragraph...so frustrating. I love the days that pages & pages add up.

  9. Happy release for your book, Cat! I like all the ladies' RWA dresses. I imagine it's just as fun (and maybe scaring) finding dresses for such special occasion.
