DEADLY
SECRETS, LOVING LIES
Entangled
Family secrets must be kept, and
painful wounds must be ignored.
After an all-out assault by a vicious
terrorist bent on destroying her entire family, a former government agent must
break the strict rules she has always lived by when she emerges from hiding to
reluctantly accept the help of her all-too-sexy ex-lover.
Running a deadly race against time,
they rush to rescue her kidnapped sister, find her missing father, and bring
the notorious villain to justice. But nothing ever goes as planned.
Bullets fly, danger abounds, and
their passion reignites even faster than the lies are flowing. But their
stubbornly held secrets just might spell the end of their rekindled love and
hopes for the future… as well as their very lives.
A
DEADLY SNEAK PEEK
Kyle
stared in disbelief at the odd, mushroom-shaped structure rising up from the
cracked, dry earth of the Nevada desert.
"There
she is," the voice of Johnny Garino, his crew chief and closest friend,
buzzed in his earpiece.
Genie
stood on the roof of the strange house. Three black SUVs were corralled
on the ground far below her. She looked incredible, breathtaking, silhouetted
against the brilliant blue sky. Kyle sucked in a breath as she clipped a
cable to her belt.
She's
getting ready to fly!" Johnny called out, his voice rising in pitch.
"Hold
on, baby. I'm almost there." Kyle pushed down on the throttle urging
the bird faster, even as he willed Genie to turn and see him, to hold on until
he could sweep her away from the danger.
And
once he did, once he had her safe and secure in his cockpit, then what?
Then
he'd try not to kill her himself.

THE
Q&A
ANGI: How often to you
get lost in a story?
CYNTHIA: A lot! If I don't, then I stop
reading or watching. There are too many good stories/movies out there to waste
time on the ones that don't immediately suck me in. Recently, I've discovered
Nevada Barr. She writes mysteries, and while I do miss the romantic element, I
love her voice and the main character in her stories.
ANGI: What’s the first
book you remember reading?
CYNTHIA: I was an absolute Nancy Drew
nut. There was a list of all the Nancy Drew books on the back of my little
yellow book, and I would cross them all out until I read them all.
ANGI: What’s your
favorite fairy tale?
CYNTHIA: Cinderella. I love that
through it all she keeps her integrity, her friends come to help her, her
prince searches high and low for her, and the bad guys get it in the end while
she lives happily ever after.
ANGI: What’s your
favorite cartoon character?
CYNTHIA: Well, when I was a kid, I
loved Scooby Doo. They were always getting into trouble, and not afraid to rush
into danger. Then when the kids were small, I loved Sailor Moon. She was whiny,
but she and her Sailor Scouts would always save the day. And of course, she
loved Tuxedo Mask who would rescue her with a flip of a rose. Silly! But
somehow it worked.
ANGI: What do you like
about the hero of your book?
CYNTHIA: My hero is awesome. He is
strong, and great at what he does. He's a good-guy agent, always doing the
right thing. But he's not afraid to break the rules when it comes to the
heroine. He'll go over the line to keep her safe and win back her love. And
even after she pushes him to far, he still takes her back in the end. He can't
help it. He's in love.
ANGI: Is there a playlist
you’d recommend for reading your latest release?
CYNTHIA: I wish I could, but I barely
listen to music since I'm always listening to audio books.
ANGI: Where do you read
and how often?
CYNTHIA: I read all the time. I listen
to audio books in the car, even if I'm just going to the store. And I like to
read in bed at night right before I fall asleep.
ANGI: What sound or noise
do you love?
CYNTHIA: Water. Either at a lake or the
ocean. I just love the sound of water lapping, waves crashing.
ANGI: Fairy Tale or
Action Adventure?
CYNTHIA: Action adventure. I remember
for my eighth birthday all my little friends wanted to go see some dippy movie,
but I insisted on Sinbad! I was the only one who LOVED it!
ANGI: What was the first
story you remember writing?
CYNTHIA: I spent several years writing
a ghost story / romance. Now, I want to
apologize for all the people who had to critique it over and over for all those
years. And no, once I finally moved on, it never came out from under the bed.
ANGI: What’s your
favorite movie of all time?
CYNTHIA: That's tough. I don't have
one. There's so many I loved. Rosemary's Baby. Don't Be Afraid of the Dark
(original). The Omen (original). Obviously, I loved horror movies.
ANGI: Who’s your favorite
villain?
CYNTHIA: I don't have a favorite
villain, but my favorite hero's are James Bond and Dirk Pitt.
ANGI: What is your
biggest vice?
CYNTHIA: Caffeine. I'm plagued with
migraines and my neurologist told me to stay away from it, but I can't live
without my afternoon tea.
ANGI: How is it working
with hot guys and sexy women all day?
CYNTHIA: You know when I'm deep in a
story, they're not hot guys and sexy gals, they're people with issues that need
to be resolved, and by rubbing them together enough and forcing them to have to
'deal' with each other, somehow they magically figure it all out.
ANGI’S
GOTTA ASK:
I noticed on your website that you like trailer camping. ME TOO! I’ve done the
Boy Scout thing, even training others how to pitch a tent or stay dry, but I
have to admit I really enjoy taking my bed with me. Tell us about one of your
favorite “camping” spots or experiences.
CYNTHIA’S GOTTA ANSWER: When my
kids were a lot younger, my son decided he was going to become a volcanologist.
Since we lived in California, we packed up the kids and the dogs and started
driving north. We went by Lassen, Mt. Shasta, walked through Lava Tubes in Bend
Oregon and climbed a mountain of Obsidian. We continued north to Mt. St.
Helens, and I must say the trip was awesome. I loved the Seattle area, in fact,
it was that trip that inspired the location for my first Romantic Suspense,
Shiver, and the location for the island on the Puget Sound in Deadly Secrets
Loving Lies. To me, being able to get into the car and explore the back roads,
is the best part about camping. Another favorite spot - Sedona. Now that the kids are older, they don't like
to spend long periods of time in the car, so we usually end up at the beach.
Luckily, I love the beach!

GOT A
QUESTION YOU’D LIKE TO ASK TODAY?
Do you have a
favorite place or way to unwind?
WELCOME TO GLIAS, CYNTHIA !!
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge Scooby fan...missed out on Sailor Moon, but for some reason my son and I were engrossed with ROBO-TECH. LOL
RE: UNWINDING...my husband will tell you that he's never seen me unwind. Ever. But in the past year or so, I've discovered jigsaw puzzles and campgrounds with no cell coverage. I can unwind when I don't feel guilty I'm not doing anything else.
~Angi
That's so true! One time we were at a camp site that had no cable or electricity. I thought the kids would come unglued, we ended up playing charades and had the best time!! I LOVED it. Now they're heading off to college and don't camp with us anymore. ;(
DeleteHi Cynthia! Great interview! Deadly Secrets, Loving Lies sounds like a great read.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Angi on the jigsaw puzzles. But if I'm going camping--and I do like to camp--it has got to be in an Airstream trailer. :) I just love those silver tubes...
LOL!! My husband has bugged me to get an Airstream for years. But I love my slide outs and won't give them up! ;D
ReplyDeleteI love bubble baths when all 3 kids & hubby are in bed with a good book! <3 thanks for doing the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!!
DeleteVery nice interview. The book sounds good. I like to relax with a good book.

Great interview. I love Scooby Doo,Sailor Moon, and Hello Kitty. Before I moved to the Midwest, my favorite way to relax was to sit outside and watch the ocean waves. Now, I sit on the back deck with an umbrella drink in the shade and read.
