When Detective Jason Morgan is tasked with keeping a local restaurant owner safe as part of a make-or-break case, he rises to the challenge. The job is his first priority, and he owes it to the memory of his father, a detective killed in the line of duty, to do it at any cost. But Jason never expected Serenity Gallagher to be so beautiful, so serious...or so tough to protect.

ALL ABOUT KIMBERLY KINCAID

Writing contemporary romance novels that split the difference between sexy and sweet, taking the traditional idea of boy-meets-girl and infusing it with a sassy magic all her own. She believes in fiery yet flawed characters destined for a crash-course in falling in love-- usually the hard way-- and injects her trademark humor as well as poignant touches into her writing to create her stories.

Kimberly's writing journey has led down some bumpy roads (that first manuscript is under the bed, where it is very likely to stay), but there has been some fresh pavement too (her second manuscript earned her very first contest final, and landed the fantastic Maureen Walters at the Curtis Brown Literary Agency). One thing is certain -- the wild ride of being a writer is a lot richer in both its ups and downs because of friends and readers along the path.

When Kimberly's not sitting cross-legged in an ancient desk chair known as "The Pleather Bomber", she can be found practicing obscene amounts of yoga, whipping up anything from enchiladas to eclairs in her kitchen, or curled up with her nose in a book. She resides in northern Virginia with her wildly patient husband and their three daughters.

ALL ABOUT JASON MORGAN

ANGI: What’s the first book you remember reading? 

JASON: My dad was a police detective, so I started on the police academy handbooks in about middle school. Nothing quite like the New York Penal Code to get a guy going.

ANGI: What’s your favorite “love” word?

JASON: Respect. No question.

ANGI: Can you tell us about a real-life hero you’ve met?

JASON: Definitely my dad, who was a detective before he was killed. And… (looks around and drops his voice) my partner, Noah, is one tough cop. But it’d probably go right to his head if he knew I said so.

ANGI: What’s your favorite cartoon character?

JASON: Batman. Cool car, cool suit, cool partner. Definitely Batman.

ANGI: What do you like most about yourself? Don't be shy.

JASON: Look at you, asking the hard questions! I guess I’m pretty laid-back. I think you’ve gotta look at life with a sense of humor if you want to get by. Too serious isn’t my thing. Except when it comes to my girlfriend.

ANGI: What's a song that reminds you of Serenity?

JASON: I don’t know if there’s a song that makes me think of her, but whenever I see apple turnovers, there she is, right on my mind. I still don’t know how she makes them, but I don’t care as long as she lets me eat them!

ANGI: Where do you read and how often?

JASON: I read a lot of case files and stuff like that for work, so by the time I leave the precinct, I don’t read too much. But thriller novels are pretty cool, especially when the cops catch the bad guys.

ANGI: What sound or noise do you love?

JASON: I love the sound of Serenity moving around my apartment. When I had to keep her safe in protective custody, I memorized how she sounds moving around, and now that cadence is kind of ingrained in my head.

ANGI: Fairy Tale or Action Adventure?

JASON: Is that even a question? Action Adventure, absolutely.

ANGI: What’s your favorite movie of all time?

JASON: While my partner is a big Kung Fu movie guy, I prefer to go the Dirty Harry route. Definitely cool.

ANGI: Who’s your favorite villain?

JASON: The one who’s behind bars. Every. Time.

ANGI: What is your biggest vice?

JASON: Do Serenity’s apple turnovers count?

ANGI’S GOTTA ASK: You mentioned in your previous interview that you always wanted to be Wonder Woman when you grew up. So…what did you like best about her? The Lasso of Truth? Her invisible plane? Or that incredible costume?

KIMBERLY'S GOTTA ANSWER: Answering as Kimberly J It was a toss up between the boots and the plane. Even after all this time, I still want both!
