FROM FATHER TO SON
Janice Kay Johnson
Is an independent cop the best family man?

Niall MacLachlan's one priority is the law. He fought his way from the wrong side of the tracks to earn his badge and won't jeopardize it for anything. After all, trusting his family nearly cost him everything as a kid. So, no. This loner has no desire for a wife and children to call his own.
Wanda Ottewell, editor
Harlequin, Superromance

So why is his entirely too attractive landlady, Rowan Staley, slipping past all his defenses?

She and her young family--complete with noisy dog--are everything Niall thinks he doesn't want. But he can't keep his distance when she turns to him for protection from a neighborhood threat. And in the end, letting her go might be impossible.

MAKING HER WAY
Janice Kay Johnson
Wanda Ottewell, editor
Harlequin, Superromance
A child is missing. The words chill Detective Mike Ryan and bring to mind memories of his own tragedy.

He'll dedicate every resource he has until the girl Sicily is found, safe...and alive. His investigation hits a snag with Sicily's aunt and guardian, Beth Greenway. Beth's cool demeanor is at odds with the situation, making him suspicious. She's definitely hiding something. But the more time he spends with her, the less he believes that something is about the missing niece. And with all that contact, Mike sees Beth's vulnerabilities. Suddenly, he wants to protect her, even while he wants to know her secrets.

As the search hits one roadblock after another, Mike's dedication intensifies. He needs to bring Sicily home for Beth...but also for the future he wants with them.

A GIFT FOR ALL SEASONS
Karen Templeton
Hiring Patrick Shaughnessy to landscape her new inn was strictly a business arrangement. Until April Ross got to know the war-scarred single father…and his irrepressible little girl. Patrick made it clear he wasn't looking for romance. Neither was April. But could she make him see that some risks were worth taking?

Harlequin, Special Edition
Gail Chasan, editor
The lively, widowed blonde might be the most tempting woman Patrick had ever known, but the returning vet knew a happy ending wasn't in the cards. Still, that was before April started working her magic on his daughter…and on him. Maybe this Christmas was a time for new beginnings—if Patrick had the courage to go with the powerful feelings April had awakened in him….

Jean Brashear

Harlequin, Superromance
Adrienne Macintosh, editor

He can't explain it, but he's drawn to Jenna and the rebuilding project she's started. And the more he works with her, the more he wants to leave his past behind and act on the intense attraction between them. The temptation is so strong, this could be his second chance at life…at love.

NO ORDINARY JOE
Michelle Celmer
Nothing could stop small-town gal Reily Eckardt from heading to Nashville and living the dream…until her car and cash savings were stolen en route. Now she was high and dry in Paradise, Colorado, population 1,632, relying on the kindness of strangers—in particular, bar and grill owner Joe Miller. But why did the single dad have to be so gruff—and cute—while he was being kind? Her mission: save up and split before getting sidetracked by this sexy enigma.
Harlequin, Special Edition
Charles Greimsman, editor

Sure, Joe could offer Reily a job at his bar. Renting her his garage apartment—no problem. But giving her a place in his heart—no way! Poor Joe—it wasn't long before the country crooner had him singing a different tune.

  15. TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD is my favorite black and white film. I love Gregory Peck. Closely followed by PSYCHO which scared me to death the first time I saw it. I actually stood up and screamed and couldn't stop screaming when they turned the chair around...

  16. No question: High Noon (the original with Gary Cooper and Grace Kelly) -- the B&W is almost a 'character' as I think it was done intentionally to enhance the story.
