MEETING CHRISTY

After leaving her career with a major insurance company, the characters
in her head came alive again and Christy decided to write her own stories. And
now, she and her characters couldn't be happier.
A member of Romance Writers' of America,
the Southern Magic RWA chapter, the KOD chapter, and International Thriller
Writers, Christy lives in Alabama with her husband, two adorable fur-kids and
one very shy turtle.
THE Q&A
ANGI: How often to you get lost in a story?
ANGI: How often to you get lost in a story?
CHRISTY: As often as I can. I try to read a book a week (I
cringe as I write this, knowing there are people reading this who read ten
times that a week.) If a character or situation can grab me in the first few
pages, I’ll keep reading. However, if I can somehow immediately identify with a
character and feel invested in them, that’s when I get lost in a story.
Connecting with a character is incredibly important to me as a reader. I’m very
aware of this as a writer and work hard to create the kind of characters
readers can identify with and like.
ANGI: What’s the first book you remember reading?
CHRISTY: First book? LOL, Fun With Dick and Jane, I
think. However, the first book I
remember that put me through a gamut of emotions was The Rolling Years by Agnes
Sligh Turnbull. It was this wonderfully deep family saga that spanned
generations. I laughed, cried and literally ached for those characters.
ANGI: What’s your favorite “love” word?
CHRISTY: Cherish
ANGI: Can you tell us about a real-life hero you’ve
met?
CHRISTY: My Mom. She raised three daughters by herself, had
a stress career, and went to college at night. She has always been my
inspiration and hero.
ANGI: What’s your favorite fairy tale?
CHRISTY: Beauty and the Beast. I’m a sucker for a tortured
hero and a strong heroine.
ANGI: What’s your favorite cartoon character?
CHRISTY: Casper the Friendly Ghost, Scooby-Doo and Johnny
Quest
**Christy, you’ve hit on two of my favorite
cartoons: Scooby-Doo & Johnny Quest. My husband and I DVR Johnny Quest just
to listen to the theme song. LOL**
ANGI: What turns you off like nothing else?
CHRISTY: Cruelty to children, the elderly and animals.
ANGI: Is there a playlist you’d recommend for reading
your latest release?
CHRISTY: soft romance classics
ANGI: Where do you read and how often?
CHRISTY: Anywhere I can, but mostly a recliner in my office
or in bed.
ANGI: What sound or noise do you love?
CHRISTY: The clickity-clack of my fur-kids running on our
hardwood floor. There’s such joy in that sound.
ANGI: Fairy Tale or Action Adventure?
CHRISTY: I love a combination of the two.
ANGI: What was the first story you remember writing?
CHRISTY: It was a class assignment…I think I was in the
seventh grade. It was about a man who disappeared and his family thought he was
dead. Turned out, he worked for a top-secret branch of the government. I think Mission
Impossible might have inspired me.
ANGI: What’s your favorite movie of all time?
CHRISTY: Braveheart
ANGI: Be honest, when reading...do you put yourself in
the heroine’s role?
CHRISTY: Yes! If I can identify with the heroine, you bet
I’m in her role. I want to feel her emotions and fall in love with the hero
right along with her.
ANGI: What’s something you’d like to tell your fans?
CHRISTY: I adore and appreciate all of you! Thank you for
buying my books and recommending them to others.
ANGI’S GOTTA ASK: Hi Christy, I watched the RT
Review interview with you--see it on her website. I love how
you try to plot and want your characters to react…but that you let them take
you down THEIR path. Can you share your biggest surprise one of your characters
shared with you?
CHRISTY’S GOTTA ANSWER: My characters endlessly surprise me. Every
book I’ve written, I’m shocked at the secrets they reveal. I can’t share most
of them since they would entail spoilers. However the best and biggest surprise
was in RESCUE ME, the first book of the series. I was writing it as a stand-alone
book, without any intention of writing a connecting book. The heroine was
getting dressed for work but I had no idea where she worked or what she did for
a living. Then she revealed that she worked for an organization called Last
Chance Rescue. That one wonderful surprise gave birth to a nine book series.

REVENGE was an October release. There are 6 previous Last Chance books, but each has its own complete story. Don’t be

CHRISTY’S QUESTION: Out of all
the LCR characters in all nine books, which one of them would you most like to
have dinner with?
