WILD with Jean Brashear

TEXAS WILD
The Gallaghers of Sweetgrass Springs

Hollywood's hot playboy stuntman Randall Mackey replaced the adrenaline rush of his career in the SEAL Teams with another life courting danger, but that existence is jeopardized by injury. The sexy bad boy of Sweetgrass Springs returns to the town where his teenage exploits made him a legend, only to find that his buddy's tomboy little sister has grown up in very interesting ways. If he thinks, however, that gifted horse trainer Rissa Gallagher will simply fall into his arms and help him dodge dealing with a haunting past and a future that looks grim, Mackey might want to think again.

Rissa Gallagher has been abandoned by everyone in her family except the hard-hearted father who is physically present but cold and critical. She is the last hope for the land that has been in her family for six generations, and though Mackey is pure temptation incarnated in one very sexy package, he can never be more than a fling when the only thing he does better than make love is…leave.

MEET JEAN BRASHEARS
A letter to Rod Stewart resulting in a Cinderella 16th birthday for her daughter sowed the seeds of Jean Brashear's writing career. The USA Today bestselling romance author is a five-time RWA RITA finalist and winner of the RT Book Reviews Career Achievement Award, among others. With nearly 40 books published, Jean feels like the luckiest person on the planet, being allowed to share her bedrock belief that love is the most powerful force in the world through her stories.

THE WILD Q&A
ANGI: How often to you get lost in a story?
JEAN: A LOT! Some writers say they don't read when they're writing their own books, but I would DIE if I weren't reading! I get a little desperate if I don't have a book in progress all the time.

ANGI: What’s the first book you remember reading?
JEAN: Wow. I've slept since then.;) I know I read all the L. Frank Baum books, but I was already in school by then--I really do read all the time and it's hard to recall everything!

ANGI: Can you tell us about a real-life hero you’ve met?
JEAN: That's easy. My beloved Marine, the man who always believed I'd get published even when I didn't and who has stood beside me every step of this crazy roller coaster life!

ANGI: What do you like about the hero of your book?
JEAN: Mackey is the quintessential bad boy with a heart of gold, even if he doesn't want to admit it. (A lot like the man I married!)

ANGI: Is there a playlist you’d recommend for reading your latest release?
JEAN: I wish I could listen to music when I write, but it influences me too much and gets between me and my story.

ANGI: Where do you read and how often?
JEAN: Everywhere. And all the time. (Okay, not when I'm writing, but I swear I always have a book within reach, just in case I have 5 seconds to spare. I'm really an addict.)

ANGI: What sound or noise do you love?
JEAN: A small child's belly laugh--you know, when they're really tickled about something?
ANGI: Fairy Tale or Action Adventure?
JEAN: Both!

ANGI: What’s your favorite movie of all time?
JEAN: Now that's really hard--Bull Durham is a big favorite. Gladiator. Lord of the Rings trilogy. The Last of the Mohicans.

ANGI: Who’s your favorite villain?
JEAN: Alan Rickman in Die Hard is pretty fabulous. But he's a slapstick-great villain in Robin Hood, too. Then as Snape…he's really so amazing.

ANGI: What is your biggest vice?
JEAN: Chocolate. And books! (And, okay, caffeine >>grin<<)

ANGI: How is it working with hot guys and sexy women all day?
JEAN: LOVE. IT!!!! What's not to love???

ANGI’S GOTTA ASK: You have some very handy dandy family trees for your characters. Are you into tracing your family roots? Any interesting stories?
JEAN'S GOTTA ANSWER: Thank you! My roots are Scottish and Irish, and I wish I had more time to pursue them back over the pond. One of my faves is from my great-grandmother, who lived on the frontier and followed her cattleman husband around while raising kids. She would be alone for days, living on the plains in a freaking TENT with small children, and she would keep them on the back of a mule while she did her chores--can you imagine? And we think life is hard!!!
