SUSAN CARLISLE’S love affair with books began when she made a bad grade in math in the sixth grade. Not allowed to watch TV until she brought the grade up, Susan filled her time with books. She turned her love of reading into a love of writing romance. Susan has currently authored more than twenty-five books for the Harper Collins Harlequin imprint medical line. Her heroes are strong, vibrant man and the woman that challenge them.

In her past life Susan has been a full time mother to four children, a high school substitute teacher and now when she isn’t writing she is busy being a fun grandmother. She lives near Atlanta, Georgia, with her husband of over thirty-five years. Susan loves castles, traveling, cross-stitching and reads voraciously.

THE ROMANCE INTERVIEW
ANGI: What would your book couple do for Valentine’s Day?
SUSAN: Ross would invite Sally out to dinner. They would ride the horses out into the pasture of his ranch. There Ross would build a small fire and cook Sally a meal. Afterwards they would snuggle under a blanket, talk and look at the stars.

ANGI: What’s your favorite Romantic Movie?
SUSAN: I love the movie Chasing Liberty with Mandy Moore and Matthew Goode. I’ve watched it over and over. The daughter of the President finds love during an adventure in Europe. It’s a great story.

ANGI: Which of your heroes is your favorite book boyfriend?
SUSAN: Haha. The correct answer is all of them. I can’t make them jealous! Truthfully I have loved them all.

ANGI: Have you done anything romantic lately?
SUSAN: Not really. My husband and I aren’t very romantic people. We been married for 37 years so we must be doing something right. My husband has been known to surprise me with fresh flowers. I do love fresh flowers.

ANGI: What is your favorite Valentine’s Day candy?
SUSAN: Chocolate kisses. The individual original ones. If they are any larger it takes away for the true essences of the chocolate. Sad that I know and think this.

ANGI: What is your favorite Valentine’s Day gift?—given or received
SUSAN: I’m not a big fan of holiday cards but I do like one on Valentine’s Day. One with the most thought put into it is my favorite. I have a number of them saved in my bedside table. I also like a pound bag of chocolate kisses. No, I don’t share them.

WHICH FICTIONAL CHARACTER WOULD YOU ASK TO BE YOUR VALENTINE?
SUSAN’S ANSWER: James Bond. I’m a big fan. I know, I know he is a womanizer but for me he would change his ways!

There are a wide range of feelings expressed, and each one is genuine and pulled me even more into the lives of two people who must search deep within themselves for what will make them truly happy.” Goodreads on The Brooding Surgeon’s Baby Bombshell

THE Q&A
ANGI: How often to you get lost in a story?
SUSAN: Oh, I get lost in every one I write. I also get lost in a number of ones I read and I read all the time. There is nothing better than getting lost in a book.

ANGI: What’s your favorite thing about your book’s hero?
SUSAN: That Paxton has such a large and compassionate heart. He cares deeper than he wants people to know. Paxton is also aware of who he is and who he wants to be.

ANGI: What’s your favorite movie of all time?
SUSAN: Is there an easier question? I’m a huge James Bond fan so I’m going with any of those movies. I like movies so it is hard for me to pick just one.

ANGI: What’s your perfect day?
SUSAN: I love a good cold, rainy day when I can stay in the bed and read all day.

ANGI: Salad or soup?
SUSAN: Soup

ANGI: Would you put yourself in a Fairy Tale or Action Adventure?
SUSAN: Action Adventure. I’m more proactive than letting things happen to me.

ANGI: Favorite TV rerun you watch every time you channel surf?
SUSAN: Remington Steele -- every time and anytime

ANGI: Favorite date night…fancy or at home?
SUSAN: l like a fancy night out but only because I don’t get many of them.

ANGI: Champagne or Soda?
SUSAN: Soda

ANGI: Geek or Jock?
SUSAN: Jock

ANGI: The most daring thing you’ve ever done… Care to share?
SUSAN: I rode a mule into the bottom of the Grand Canyon. I’m afraid of heights so I had to make myself remember the experience was more important than my fear. I’m glad I did. I made a turn around a bend on a two foot wide path and 1000 feet below was the Colorado River. It was an amazing view. It was well worth keeping my fear at bay.

ANGI’s GOTTA ASK:  Where is your favorite writing place & why?

SUSAN’S GOTTA ANSWER:  At my mother’s place on a lake in north Alabama. I’m very productive there.

"My favorite  part of Halloween is the pumpkin carving and when my children were little, dressing them up in costumes I’d sewn. Halloween only really came to be big in the UK in the past 20 years, but I made sure I had brought some of the American traditions over.  My second Halloween over here (1989), I went looking for pumpkins and the local supermarket was selling pieces of cut pumpkin. They used scoop up rutabagas to make jack o’lanterns in the North East of England!" ~ Michelle Styles
