SCENT OF PERSUASION

Sensory Ops, Book 2

Samhain Publishing

ISBN: 978-1-60928-081-9

Actress Kami Evans is tackling the biggest role of her life—as an escort. There’s definitely something going on in Madame V’s mansion, but Kami has to prove herself trustworthy before she can dig deeper and prove her stepbrother didn’t commit suicide. Her first assignment: seduce a CEO and, oddly, steal his hair brush. He’s everything she avoids in a man: suave, sexy, suited. She plays her role all the way to the bedroom…and finds it stunningly difficult to walk away. Breck Lawson’s undercover assignment, posing as a replacement CEO, is yielding zero clues as to why his friend tried to kill himself—until Kami comes on the scene. She’s everything he likes in a woman: safe, sexy, temporary. She also arouses him just by walking into a room, a sure sign it’s time to push her away. Then he connects the dots she unwittingly shares, and realizes their investigations are linked by delicate strands of DNA. Keeping her near isn’t wise, but he has to know her secrets and keep her safe. Unless they trust each other and come clean, those dots could lead to death for both of them…

WICKED IN WHISPERING COVE ISBN: 978-1-4524-8466-2 eBook

Part 3 of the Whispering Cove Anthology with Mackenzie McKade and Cathryn Fox.

Sometimes the best diagnosis calls for a visit home, an unexpected reunion, and a sexual adventure. Danica Kent, MD has settled into her new role as a small town doctor. She caters to her Whispering Cove patients, especially the rum drinking, poker playing, town grandfathers who have their hands in a bit of everything. But when one of those patients brings her face-to-face with her high school crush the work she’s done to reinvent herself falters. Braydon Mitchell lives his life sailing around the world to write freelance magazine articles. He has no desire to settle down with a family in a small town, so he’s successfully avoided his grandfather’s pleas...until now. Returning home out of worry for his grandfather’s health, Braydon finds more than old friends in town for their high school reunion. His grandfather’s sexy doctor. With erotic sparks igniting at their first touch, Danica makes Braydon want everything he isn’t built for...small town stability, a strong woman’s love, family. Can they find a common ground in love?

WHO IS NIKKI DUNCAN?

Heart stopping puppy chases, childhood melodrama and the aborted hangings of innocent toys are all in a day's work for Nikki Duncan. This athletic equestrian turned reluctant homemaker turned daring author, is drawn to the siren song of a fresh storyline. Nikki plots murder and mayhem over breakfast, scandalous exposes at lunch and the sensual turn of phrase after dinner. Nevertheless, it is the pleasurable excitement and anticipation of unraveling her character's motivation that drives her to write long past the witching hour. The only anxiety and apprehension haunting this author comes from pondering the mysterious outcome of her latest twist.

I’ve had the pleasure to be chaptermate to Nikki for some time. She’s an awesome volunteer and friend and mom and business woman and prolific writer and ___ and ___ -- Just fill in the blank, Nikki can get the job done.

NIKKI’S Q&A … ALL SENSES ON ALERT

ANGI: How often to you get lost in a story?

NIKKI: My own or someone else’s? Getting lost in mine is a much more frequent occurrence.

ANGI: What’s your favorite cartoon character?

NIKKI: The Roadrunner. Beep Beep.

ANGI: What turns you off like nothing else?

NIKKI: Selfishness and a bad attitude. They’re two characters traits I just can’t tolerate.

ANGI: What sound or noise do you love?

NIKKI: Silence. It’s something I get so very little of, so when I am blessed with it I LOVE it.

SOUNDS TO DIE BY Sensory Ops, Book 1 Samhain Publishing ISBN: 978-1-60504-795-9

ANGI: What was the first story you reAdd Imagemember writing?

NIKKI: Criminal Promises, the first in my Detective series that I’ll be publishing a little later this year.

ANGI: Is writing or story-telling easier for you?

NIKKI: That’s tough. I can’t really write the story without it having been played out in my head. At least mostly played out. I guess in the end it’s story-telling through writing for me.

ANGI: What’s the first thing you do when you finish writing a book?

NIKKI: Treat myself with some relaxation. Maybe my treat is a long bath or an afternoon with a book or a favorite DVD, but it’s all about the me time in those moments. They keep me motivated and remind me why I would as hard as I do.

ANGI: What is your favorite tradition from your childhood that you would love to pass on or did pass on to your children?

NIKKI: Reading. And if it’s not considered a tradition, it should be. In fact, my oldest keeps trying to implement Sunday Reading Day in the house. Some weekends we pull it off better than others. At the very least I try to squeeze in an hour or two.

ANGI’S GOTTA ASK: So, Nikki, I hear you like to kill people **evil grin** What’s your favorite form of demise so far?

NIKKI’S GOTTA ANSWER: Hmm... That’s a toss-up. There was the fence post staking a woman to the ground (through the heart). Then again there was the serrated sheet rock knife to the bad guy’s femoral artery. Those were probably the most gruesome deaths.

GOT A QUESTION YOU’D LIKE TO ASK NIKKI? We’d love to hear from you. Nikki can be found on the web, blogging, on Twitter or Facebook. Til next week when I host fellow Intrigue author, Paula Graves. ~~Angi

  1. Thanks for having me here! I'll swing by between the day job and running with the kids and teaching the plotting boot camp I'm in the middle of with writing pal Heather Long and whatever else crops up during the day. LOL

Sending good wishes for continued success!!! Well, I guess I do have a question -was the serrated sheet rock knife sharpened??

  5. Great interview, Nikki. Love that Road Runner is your favorite cartoon character. I'd have to choose Linus and Schroder from Charlie Brown. I've been in love with both of them since first sight.

  6. I don't like to be predictable, Heather. And it was a weapon of convenience. :)

The truly amazing thing is that my husband sleeps peacefully at night - often going to sleep before me. lol

  7. I'm working on it Karen, I promise. :) And yes the knife was sharp, though quite dirty with sheet rock stuff so if the cut didn't kill him the infection might well have. ;)
