A BAD DAY FOR A DEMON...

Rafe Deleon is a senior demon and he resents like hell his assignment to Earth to retreive the Chest of the Damned before it ends up in the wrong hands. But then he meets beautiful, intriguing succubus, Lucy Gregory, and she’s just unleashed a whole load of trouble...

REALLY SUCKS FOR A SUCCUBUS...

Lucy’s chic suburban salon has suddenly become the Underworld’s center of mass chaos and destruction. The only good in a day going rapidly down the tubes is the arrival of a gorgeous demon who’s adamant he can help her...

But Lucy has quite a few deeply unpleasant--not to mention deadly and hateful--surprises ahead of her. Surely there’s never been a worse time to tryout a new boyfriend...

Sidney Ayers
loves infusing her stories with humor. What would the world be without a little bit of laughter? She writes a plethora of genres, ranging from historical, to paranormal, to contemporary. A native of Michigan, Sidney still lives in the same town she grew up in. No matter how hard she tries, she just can’t seem to get away. Michigan is in her blood.

Jillian: How often to you get lost in a story?
Sidney: Every time I read a good book. Sometimes when I’m writing a good scene, I tend to get lost in my own work though.
Jillian: What’s the first book you remember reading?
Sidney: Green Eggs and Ham by the legendary Dr. Seuss, of course. I also remember My Nest is Best and Are You My Mother by PD Eastman.
Jillian: What’s your favorite “love” word?
Sidney: “I Love You” in other languages always makes me weak in the knees. Ti Amo, Te Quiero, Je t'aime… then there’s the whole You Complete Me scene from Jerry Maguire.
Jillian:What’s your favorite fairy tale?
Sidney: I’ve never told anyone this before, but I once made my family reenact Snow White with me. Anything involving a magical kiss always makes me giddy.
Jillian: What’s your favorite cartoon character?
Sidney: Spongebob Square Pants, of course.
Jillian: Is there a playlist you’d recommend for reading your latest release?
Sidney: Anything by Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga… except for Bad Romance. My book isn’t a bad one, it’s a good one.
Jillian: Where do you read and how often?
Sidney: I usually read on the couch, chair or my bed. I try to read a little every night before I go to bed.
Jillian: What sound or noise do you love?
Sidney: I love the sound of a cat purring. It’s kind of relaxing.
Jillian: Describe your favorite kind of hero to read/write?
Sidney: I do enjoy writing and reading the tortured heroes. It’s rewarding seeing them overcoming their fears and obstacles.
Jillian: What was the first story you remember writing?
Sidney: I wrote a story about a stray cat I found in my yard when I was in 2nd grade. Not a literary masterpiece, but it was a start.
Jillian: Tea or Coffee? And how do you take it?
Sidney: I drink both. I like Splenda in my tea. As for coffee, I drink it with Splenda, a little milk and a lot of creamer. International Delight has some kickass flavors.

Jillian's Gotta Ask and Sidney's Gotta Answer Question:

Jillian: If demons prefer blondes, does that mean the rest of us girls are safe? Or maybe the brunettes are the hot chicks coming up? Hehe. Could you tell us a little bit about your demon world and how you created the series?

Sidney: Hee hee. Brunettes are not immune to a demon’s charm either. Serah, the heroine in the next book in the series, Demons Like It Hot, is a brunette. As for creating the series, I knew I wanted to write a paranormal. Everyone was either writing about vampires, werewolves, or some other kind of shifter, and I wanted to do something different. Demons seemed to be the next big thing. But being raised Catholic, I didn’t think I could realistically write a book about a bad entity or realistically write one that could be redeemed. So I invented the Paladins. They are demons who chose to fight for good instead of evil. To seal the deal, the Paladins are blessed by angels. And that’s how the Demons Unleashed series was born.

Sidney has a question she'd like to ask her fans: What sort of beings do you enjoy reading or would like to see in paranormal romance novels?

Sidney will give away a signed copy of Demons Prefer Blondes, a set of Romance trading cards from all three of her books, including Wings of Desire (as Arianna Skye), bookmarks and some shrinky dink key chains and magnets.***

***Note: Offer void where prohibited. Prizes will be mailed to North America addresses only. If an Advanced Reading Copy (ARC) is available, the author may utilize that option for International participants. Odds of winning vary due to the number of entrants.

  1. Glad to know the Paladins are equal (hair color) opportunity demons. And I love the fact that mass chaos breaks loose in Lucy's chic urban salon!
    What a fun read!

  2. hahaha i was going to say brunettes have just as much fun. i love all beings in paranormal romances but sometimes im more drawn to shapeshifters. they get me with there alpha possessive attitudes. though i found even other beings can be alpha possessive as well which thrills me. i have quite a few, vampire, shapeshifters, demons and now some angels ones in my collection. thanks for such a great interview i can concur with the cat purring being relaxing.

  6. I love that a beauty salon meets the paranormal in DEMONS PREFER BLONDES. That is a refreshing and much welcome change. Often when I think of paranormals it's of dark, angsty read with the tortured hero. So, it long due that I can immerse myself in the paranormal world and laugh. After all laughter is the best medicine.

I am noticing a shift from vampires to werewolves and shape-shifters. I would love to see more shape-shifters but I'm fine with any paranormal beings even the long-living err undead vampires so long as the story is memorable and the characters personalized. I would like to see more comedy paranormal romances. Still deep with tender moments but more light-hearted banter would be appreciated.

  8. Hey, I missed Carolyn Brown in NY. Sigh. I like demons and lighter paranormals, not so much the angsty ones. But there's something now for everyone, right?

  10. Great interview. I've been seeing the book around several blogs lately and it looks really good. I have definitely added it to my wish list.

I'm a lover of all paranormal beings, so as long as it's an interesting story I don't care what type of beings that they are.

  11. Welcome to GLIAS, Sidney! My favorite beings would be very very strong Scotsmen with a wee bit of fairy magic to make them interesting!

  12. Thanks everyone for stopping by! I am away from my computer right now. I'll pop back in after dinner and reply to everyone's comments individually.

I'm just relieved that nobody said zombies. There's just nothing sexy about body parts falling off. :)

  13. What a fascinating sounding book. I like that you've set it in a beauty shop, and that the hero is a good demon.

  14. Great interview. Made me stop to think about my first book and I'm not sure which it was...Hop on Pop or Cat in the Hat. I'll bet lots of people remember a Seuss book as their first.

I just want the hero to be wonderfully complex, sexy and totally devoted to the heroine, no matter what other complications make his life difficult. He absolutely has to be an alpha. As they said in ICEAGE, "The sensitive ones always get eaten."
