BROTHERS IN ARMS & Carol Ericson

TOP GUN GUARDIAN
Brothers In Arms Book 3
Harlequin Intrigue
ISBN: 0373746415
Buzz Richardson survived as a navy pilot and a covert operative by following one rule: handle the unexpected. Partnering up with Raven Pierre, his ex-fiancée, who’s still his sexiest fantasy come true, might be against all the rules. Buzz had already learned the hard way that a family…a husband…had no place in Raven’s well-thought-out future. But even with an unknown assassin threatening to take down Raven and the little girl she’d risked her life to hide, Buzz saw a side of the UN translator he’d never thought possible. Keeping this new Raven safe only resurrected the desire between them…and letting her go this time was the one thing he wasn’t willing to handle.

HIS UNDERCOVER MISSION BROUGHT HIM BACK TO HIS WIFE—AND THE SON HE HADN’T KNOWN EXISTED
Ian Dempsey knew he’d have a lot to answer for when he bumped into Meg, the wife he’d left behind to complete an undercover mission.

Nearly three years had passed since he’d last seen her, but she was as beautiful as ever—and as angry. Before he could explain his reasons for temporarily walking away, shots rang out and Ian quickly went from husband to bodyguard. Investigating his enemies would take time. And whether Meg liked it or not, he wouldn’t leave her side until he could guarantee her safety. One step back into her life, though, and Ian knew the stakes were even higher. She had a two-year-old son. And he looked exactly like Ian.…

NAVY SEAL SECURITY
Brothers In Arms Book 1
Harlequin Intrigue
ISBN: 0373695349
Amy Prescott couldn't help but notice the sexy, wet-suited Navy SEAL who washed up on the beach. Nor could she overlook the burst of gunfire that followed his hasty introduction. Thankfully, Riley Hammond expertly shielded her from harm. Unfortunately, he landed her in the middle of his deadly covert op.
Riley never expected the seemingly innocent beach girl to be connected to the bad guys he'd been sent to track down. But between the body splayed across her kitchen floor and the bullets narrowly missing them as they went on the run, Riley suspected there was more to the feisty bombshell than she let on. Not to mention a fiery passion he was happy to explore….

Someone was determined to keep Lola from her quest, and her life hung in the balance. Jack’s first concern might have been regaining his memory, but now it was all about protecting Lola. For she was the one thing this loner was determined to keep.

ABOUT CAROL
Best-selling series romance author Carol Ericson suffers from a lack of privacy. She always has a few characters floating in her head as well as snippets of dialogue and several “what if” scenarios. She periodically purges all these voices and images by writing stories of romantic suspense for Harlequin Intrigue. The first two books in her Brothers in Arms series, Navy SEAL Security and Mountain Ranger Recon, spent three weeks and two weeks, respectively, on Neilson Bookscan’s top 100 romances and two weeks and one week, respectively, on Borders’ top ten series romance list. When she’s not writing romance, Carol is working as a technical writer, reading other fabulous stories, or running to her teenage sons’ soccer matches, water polo and basketball games. Carol and her family live in southern California near the beach, where Carol is now officially the shortest person in her household.
What Carol's bio doesn't say is that she's one of the busiest, upbeat people I know AND she's a writer. My fellow sprinter, Intrigue buddy, and generous friend...
THE Q & A
ANGI: What’s the first book you remember reading?
CAROL: Like most writers, I was a bookworm when I was a child.  I would read through stacks of books from the library every week.  The books that stand out in my memory as some of my early favorites were those biographies with the blue covers and the yellow squiggle around the person’s name.  I can remember reading one of those biographies on Amelia Earhart. I also enjoyed the Edgar Eager series that I believe started with the book Half Magic (waaay before Harry Potter ever got his scar!).

ANGI: Can you tell us about a real-life hero you’ve met?
CAROL: That would have to be my dad.  When I was a baby, and I’m the youngest of four, my mom was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s disease (think Michael J. Fox).  She was only 40 years old.  Her disease progressed fast and furious and soon she couldn’t drive, go grocery shopping, do housework, or cook.  My dad hung in there and did what he needed to do for his family.  When I left for college, my dad retired so he could take care of my mom full-time.  He never dodged his responsibilities or bemoaned his fate.  He was also a WWII veteran and in later years he was amazed at the reverence shown to veterans of that war.  Again, he just did what was expected of him.  He was one of those everyday heroes, not perfect, not rich, not famous, but he epitomized the heroes of his generation.

ANGI: What’s your favorite cartoon character?
CAROL: Spongebob Squarepants.  He’s so optimistic and trusting.  He usually looks on the bright side of life and thoroughly enjoys himself in Bikini Bottom.  And I love the way he says, “In your face!”

ANGI: Is there a playlist you’d recommend for reading your latest release?
CAROL: Hmm, I can’t listen to music when I write.  It’s way too distracting because I like to sing along with the songs.  However, since my Jan. Intrigue, Green Beret Bodyguard is set in Miami and the heroine is of Cuban descent, a perfect playlist for that book would include Shakira’s “Hips Don’t Lie,” Juanes’ – “La Camisa Negra,” and Pit Bull’s “I Know You Want Me.”

ANGI: What was the first story you remember writing?
CAROL: I can’t remember the first story I ever wrote down on paper, but I always had stories running through my head.  I had a best friend growing up who lived down the street, and we would always play this game where we would act out my stories.  I reconnected with that friend recently after a long absence and she could totally get how I was writing romance novels because she remembered all my stories when we were kids.  I also “founded” a magazine/newsletter at my junior high school called “Madrone Madness.”  I recruited my friends to work on every issue where we printed school news and song dedications, and I wrote a fictional soap opera starring the teachers and students of the school called “As Madrone Turns.”  The whole publication was sort of like Vanity Fair.

ANGI: What’s your favorite movie of all time?
CAROL: OK, you know I can’t just choose one, right?  Two of my favorite movies of all time happen to come from the same director, Mel Gibson.  I absolutely love Braveheart because it contains so many elements of my favorite types of stories:  romance, action/adventure, and history.  The other Gibson movie I love is Apocalypto.  Again, that movie has a compelling love story, fascinating historical details, and enough non-stop action that kept me on the edge of my seat for almost the entire movie the first time I watched it.  I also love those film noir types of movies.  I just watched Body Heat again the other night, and that is a fantastic movie – so atmospheric and sultry.  Oh, oh, I have to add Slumdog Millionaire, so very clever with the flashback retelling of Jamal’s life, and The Reader.  After watching The Reader for the first time, I emailed my friend who had recommended it, and we must’ve exchanged about 20 emails discussing this movie.
ANGI’S GOTTA ASK:  Carol, you are one of the busiest people I know. Besides writing and your kids and husband… What do you do for fun? Care to share who you read to relax?
CAROL’S GOTTA ANSWER:  Relaxing is so overrated!  J To wind down, I like to walk to the beach listening to my iPod.  I really enjoy watching my boys play sports.  There’s nothing more “relaxing” than screaming on the sidelines of my sons’ soccer matches or water polo games.  I also like watching Dancing with the Stars and The Bachelorette – shhh.  Two of my go-to authors for pure reading enjoyment are Victoria Holt, the Mistress of Gothic Romance, and Georgette Heyer, the Queen of Regency Romance.  The other day, I was walking home from meeting a friend for coffee, and as I passed by our local public library I sneaked inside and grabbed a copy of Heyer’s Black Sheep from the shelf just so I could read the “meet” scene between Abigail Wendover and Miles Claverleigh.  I just stood there in the stacks and giggled.  Now THAT’S getting lost in a story!

I've read the first two books of the Brothers In Arms series and the third is in my TBR pile. Really enjoyed the first two and am sure I'll enjoy the rest of them.

  15. Hi Everyone! Thanks for stopping by today. So sorry I've been MIA. After work I had to take my son to the dentist, and then pick up some dinner, and then drive six boys to water polo practice about 10 miles away, so I stayed in the area, went to a Starbuck's, and wrote while I waited for the practice to end. I write on an AlphaSmart, not a laptop, so I didn't have computer access until 10:00 PM - PST!

    Thanks for having me, Angi!

  16. Jane, I kinda like Patrick too - big and dumb - Maddie in Body Heat makes some kind of comment about liking her men dumb - of course, we find out why later!

  17. Hi Carol, my dad is my real life hero as well. He's taught me so much and I've always looked up to him :) Congratulations on your release. What I love about stories is meeting many more heroes.

  18. Abigail - one big plus of having a tech writing background is that tech writers are used to writing - all the time. We get words on the page and we explain and describe and instruct. It's a great base for fiction writing! (Plus we're so darned good at grammar and mechanics!)

  19. Diane, the heroes are the best part of any romance, and I love military guys (I work on an Air Force Base - great for inspiration!)

  20. Hey, Tammy! Great to "see" you here. I loved writing this series - hope you enjoy it.

  25. Hi Valri! Hope you were able to find Top Gun Guardian at your Target. My romantic comedy is an ebook only - it's on Amazon and B&N; you'll find it quite different from my Intrigues!

  26. Virginia, Intrigues are the best! Not biased at all here - LOL

  27. Hi Sandy, you mean you didn't know my favorite cartoon character was Spongebob Squarepants?

  28. Na, it's great to be able to look up to your father, isn't it? So many of the WWII vets dying off. My uncle will be 94 next Jan. and he was in the Navy at Pearl Harbor when it was bombed. They have so many stories and so much life experience.
