Get Lost Again with Alexandra Hawkins!!!

Get Lost in This Story…

Dashing, decadent, and deliciously seductive, the notorious Lords of Vice indulge their every desire—from dusk until dawn…

Christopher Courtland, Earl of Vanewright—known around London as “Vane”—is the very picture of a rich, handsome ladies’ man. Why shackle himself to just one lady when he’s free to sample them all? In spite of his own mother’s attempts at matchmaking, Vane has sworn to stay single. Until he has a chance run-in with Miss Isabel Thorne…

A modest and refined beauty, Isabel is a lot more brazen than she appears. When a pickpocket tries to make away with Vane’s bejeweled snuffbox, Isabel attempts to thwart his escape…and manages to steal Vane’s heart. But the harder he tries to seduce the sharp-tongued, strong-willed Isabel, the more she resists. Now it’s up to this tried-and-true bachelor to find a new way to play the game…or risk losing the one woman who’s ever captured his heart.

Today, we welcome back historical romance author Alexandra Hawkins to the blog.  Alexandra is an unrepentant Anglophile who discovered romance novels as a teenager and knew that one day she would be writing her own.  In “The Lords of Vice” series, she has combined her love of English history, mythology, and romance to create sensual character-driven stories that, she hopes, will touch readers’ hearts.  She lives in Georgia with her husband and three children.

So let’s learn more about Alexandra!

Heather: What’s your favorite movie of all time?
Alexandra:  It depends on the genre.  However, Amadeus is one of my favorites.

Heather: What’s your favorite fairy tale?
Alexandra:  Beauty and the Beast.

Heather: What’s your favorite cartoon character?
Alexandra:  I’ve always loved the old Bugs Bunny cartoons.

Heather: What was the first story you remember writing?
Alexandra:  I recall writing a crazy adventure story with my best friend that involved the Bay City Rollers.  What can I say?  We were young and impressionable.  We even recorded it on a cassette player.  I don’t remember much about the story, but I do remember that my friend was so caught up in the drama of the scene that she slapped me across the face.

Heather: If you couldn’t be a writer anymore, what profession would you take up?
Alexandra:  When I was child, my passion for painting and drawing rivaled my interest in writing.  If I had to switch professions, it would be something related to the arts.

Heather: What do you do to unwind and relax?
Alexandra:  I catch up on my reading.  Baking is a creative outlet for me so I like to spend time in the kitchen.  I also like to watch movies and play video games with the family.

Heather: What is something that not a lot of people know about you but you WISH more people COULD know?
Alexandra:  LOL, there is something, but I can’t talk about it.  How’s that for enigmatic answer?  Seriously, when I’m in a position to share, I promise I’ll come back and give you all more details.

Heather: What soundtrack or playlist do you recommend for your current release?
Alexandra:  Anything Vivaldi.  He’s one of my favorite composers and his music complements my series.

Heather: What is your favorite thing about you? J
Alexandra:  My sense of humor.  It’s a little quirky.

Heather:  What has been the most unexpected thing about being a published author?

Alexandra:  Readers’ reactions to my characters.  I’m amazed and humbled by all the wonderful emails that I’ve received over the years.  I’m thrilled fans of the series love the characters as much as I do.

  4. Happy Release Day!! My resolution is pretty minor... I just need to walk more.. But I do like May's type of resolutions!!

  5. Hi Alexandra! Welcome back to GLIAS and Happy Release Day. My resolution this year is to work on my relationships...our lives have been so hectic for the past 20 months with husband's career and school, my deadlines, and new baby that I seem to have lost touch with almost everyone in my life. I also plan to focus on my relationship with myself--been a little mean to me lately :)

    Have a great new year!

  6. Congrats on your release! I viewed the video trailer and it gives a nice sense of story. I want to visit that house...err mansion myself :)

My New Year resolution has been put into action these last few months but it's simply to live a healthier lifestyle. I want to get out more, eat healthier foods and be more fit. All the best for 2012. Cambonified[at]yahoo[dot]com

  7. My resolution is to take better care of myself. I've been dealing with the sinus infection from hell for months. Hopefully, I've taken my last antibiotic pill for a very long time. :)

  8. Happy release day! My resolution is to exercise more try and loose some weight and of course read more books.

  9. I'm taking the pledge on eating healthier, too. Less starches and more fruits and veggies!

  10. My resolution is to eat more healthy and to loose some weight.

I can't wait to read this book. Thanks for the giveaway.

  11. Happy release day! Can't wait to get my hands on it. :D I haven't had too much luck with making resolutions...I tend to forget what I promised to work on halfway through the first month. I think I'm just going for upholding the Golden Rule--you can't go wrong with that.

  12. Welcome back to GLIAS, Alexandra!

    My New Year's Resolution?
    Just to actually work. LOL
It's been a while since I held regular work hours and it's really hard to at home. :-)

  13. I agree, Angi. Working at home can be a challenge. I have three teenagers and a husband that runs his business out of the house. There's always something going on here. :)

  14. Mine is to eat healthier and maybe lose a bit of weight.
I can't wait to read this book! Your one of my favorite authors! Thanks for sharing with us a great interview and giving us a chance to win a book of yours!

  15. Exercise is on my list, too. Between the sinus infection and deadlines, I stopped going to the gym months ago. I'm dreading my first day back. It's going to hurt.

  16. Hi Johanna--It's great to see you here!

  17. My resolution is to spend more time with my family this year and take more weekend trips.

  18. Hi Alexandra! Congrats on the release!!! I have been waiting for this story for so long! Every since reading the last book After Dark....

Don't do resolutions but I do plan on getting healthier. Eating better, exercising more, and losing weight.

  19. Congrats on the new book!
My resolution is to get tons of sleep!

  20. To lose weight! I know diet is a dirty, dirty word, but I'm saying it. This year I'm going on a diet, and I plan on kicking diet's butt, while losing mine!

  21. Sleep . . . I can't tell you how sleep deprived I was in Nov.-December, which probably explains why I wasn't shaking that sinus infection.

Chelsea--Diet seems like a dirty word because it implies denial. I'm not aiming for denial per se, but I need get back to a healthier routine. All good intentions tend to fly out the window during a deadline.

  22. I plan to take more risks and try new things. I always talk myself out of doing something fun. I want to see if I can pick up some new hobbies.

  23. Alexandra, welcome to GLIAS. Super answers. I'm partial to Bugs Bunny myself. Best wishes with Sunrise with a Notorious Lord!

  24. What kind of hobbies are you thinking about trying, StacieD? Something daring?

  25. I can't wait to read this book! Still waiting on the library to get it in, hopefully it won't be much longer! Also looking forward to the other three books in the series, especially Saint's! :D Thanks for writing these books and taking the time to chat with us! The attention you give to your fans is one of my favorite things about you Alexandra. <3

  26. Congrats on the newest release. I'm so looking forward to enjoying it. One of my goals for 2012 is try to do some decluttering around the house and also to work on the TBR pile (only problem with the second itme is is great new books like this one keep coming out to offset any progress getting made) :D Have a wonderful 2012 :)

  27. The story looks like a good one. I do like a romance with a rake who loses his heart. My resolution is to continue to declutter my house and really get rid of everything that we are not using.

  28. I don't make resolutions at the New Year because I think if you want to make a change, then just do it! :) How can I sign up for your newsletter? I hope you get well quickly!

  29. Excellent point, Candice!

The link for the newsletter is: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/alexandra_hawkins_newsletter/

It's an announcement-only list that I use to let everyone know about new releases.

  30. --The attention you give to your fans is one of my favorite things about you Alexandra. <3--

    Aw, thank you, Denise! ::Hugs::

  31. You should see my TBR pile, Gamistress66. Over the holiday break I did read three books from the pile, but I'm always adding new books.

  32. Can;t wait to read the new book. I have 2 New Years Resolutions. 1) I need to lose weight and 2) I have to finish the book I want to write.

  33. Maureen--After being on deadline, my dust bunnies have multiplied. Teenagers are great for dishes or vacuuming, but they never remember to dust the corners. :)

  34. Best of luck on your writing, Alana. Even if you write just one page a day, that means you're one page closer to finishing it!

  35. Happy release day! I love your books Alexandra. I never follow through with resolutions, so one of the things I really want to do for myself is lose weight... I would love to be closer to what I was before having my boys, or even after I had my first... right before I gave up after finding out I was already preggers again lol

  36. I loved the first two books and somehow missed that the third one came out. I'm headed now to get both. I loved them!

  37. Happy Release Day and great Interview! I normally dont make resolutions since i dont follow through with them. but this year i am cutting out soda i wish i could say sweets but to be honest i will let some sweets go but some will eventually find its way in my mouth.

  38. Yay, your new book is available. I really enjoyed the first 3 in the series!
I don't usually make resolutions either, but I'm forced to eat healthier from now, or suffer later.
