She’s on her way to safety
It’s a sign of Lady Rosalia Armstrong’s desperation that she’s seeking refuge in a place as rugged and challenging as the Scottish Highlands. She doesn’t care about hardship and discomfort, if only she can become master of her own life. Laird Ciaran MacGregor, however, is completely beyond her control…
Ciaran MacGregor knows it’s perilous to get embroiled with a fiery Lowland lass, especially one as headstrong as Rosalia. Having made a rash promise to escort her all the way to Glengarry, now he’s stuck with her, even though she challenges his legendary prowess at every opportunity. When temptation reaches its peak, he’ll be ready to show her who he really is…on and off the battlefield.

ALEXA: How often to you get lost in a story?
VICTORIA: Not as often as I’d like. As a debut author, I find writing takes up the majority of my time. But I’ve been known to escape a time or two!
ALEXA: What turns you off like
nothing else?
VICTORIA: I would have to
say my biggest turn-off is insincerity.
ALEXA: What’s the first book you remember reading?
VICTORIA: I remember many, but I think the first book that ever hooked me was The Devil and Daniel Webster. A farmer sold his soul to the devil and Daniel Webster is the attorney who defended him. It’s a story about patriotism, faith; it was deep and definitely made me think.

ALEXA: What was the first story
you remember writing?
VICTORIA: When I was
sixteen, I penned my first young-adult novella about a girl who fell in love
with an older motorcycle hero. I pounded out the story on my old typewriter for
days on end. There were no auto-correct features so it was me with a stack of
paper and a bunch of white out. Oh, the memories!
ALEXA: Is writing or story-telling
easier for you?
VICTORIA: Writing is
definitely easier. I can always go back and edit. Story-telling, not so much.
When the words are out of your mouth, it’s hard to take them back.
ALEXA: Do you write while
listening to music? If so what kind?
VICTORIA: I honestly do
not. For me, it’s a distraction
and I can’t concentrate.
Even when my daughter is in her room practicing her violin, I can’t do it.
ALEXA: What’s the first thing you do
when you finish writing a book?
VICTORIA: Breathe a sigh
of relief. I usually walk downstairs and high-five the kids and my husband. We
usually go out to dinner to celebrate. It’s kind of bittersweet. I give myself one to two days
of brainlessness and then I find myself going through withdrawal. I’ll start writing the next
story within a few days.
ALEXA: Which of your characters
would you least to invite to dinner, and why?
VICTORIA: Lady Armstrong
(Rosalia’s mother.) She
is a horrible, horrible woman. After everything she did to Rosalia and her own
husband… She is the
type of person who makes me cringe. Ugh! Writing those scenes even ticked me off. I couldn’t imagine sitting at the
same table with that woman for a meal and trying to be cordial.
ALEXA: What's up next for you?
VICTORIA: Coming February 1, 2013… X Marks the Scot.
ALEXA: Oooh, I like the sound of that! Victoria, do you have any questions for your fans?

Honestly, I'm really getting into the sweet, tender romances. I think I've overdone it on the hot and spicy for awhile. I need to calm it down and get some really shmaltzy romancey stories in my brain for awhile. :)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a fantastic book, Victoria! Can't wait to read it.
