Folks, help me welcome Robyn DeHart to the blog today! Robyn is a member of my local writers' group. She's a great inspiration to all of us and a wonderful person too! Read on to find out more!
WHO IS ROBYN?
THE STORY BLURB
Marcus Kincaid has returned to England after a
ten-year absence as the Earl of Ashford after his brother's untimely death.
Unfortunately, his younger sister is embroiled in a potential scandal that
could ruin her chance at marriage, and his aunt has already called in
reinforcements—The Paragon.
Vivian March is known simply as The Paragon. She
moves through every circle within Society, smoothing out scandals and stopping
gossip in its tracks. Everyone in London knows that if she aligns herself with
you, Society will forgive your sins. What they don’t know is that she uses
their secrets to cover her own jaded past.
But with every kiss
and every touch that Marcus thrusts upon her, Vivian comes to believe life is
infinitely more fun when you can be just a little bit wicked…
AND NOW FOR THE Q & A...
ALEXA: How often to you get lost in a story?
ROBYN: Every time I read a book. I don’t have a ton of reading time so I don’t finish books I’m not loving, so when I’m reading, I’m definitely immersed in the book. And I have my favorite go-to authors that are sure-fire wins to get me totally engrossed. The last book that I remember getting lost in was a JD Robb – I love her world.
ALEXA: What’s your favorite fairy tale?
ROBYN: I tend to gravitate to Sleeping Beauty or the Ugly Duckling which are really the same story in many ways. I write a lot about heroines discovering their own beauty and worth or coming into their own so that myth of a sleeping beauty is powerful in my own writing.
ROBYN: Arrogance. I have very little tolerance for people who think they’re better than others.
ALEXA:
Fairy Tale or Action Adventure?
ROBYN: I counter with, why must I choose?
I’ll take a fairy tale with action adventure, please.
ALEXA:
What sound or noise do you love?
ROBYN: My husband’s laugh – he has this no
holds barred laugh that fills the room and just makes me smile. ROBYN: It depends on my mood, but I tend to gravitate to either romantic suspense – I like gritty police procedurals or historical romance, but I never read historicals while I’m writing rough drafts. I also enjoy a handful of urban fantasy authors and some YA’s.
ROBYN: I do though I didn’t always. I used to prefer total silence, but when I started writing full-time I would write at coffee shops or Panera’s and I needed a way to block out the noise of the people – I’m too noisy to not pay attention to them. So I started writing to movie soundtracks, my favorites are The Mummy, Stardust and Don Juan DeMarco.
ALEXA: What’s the first thing you do when you finish writing a book?
ROBYN: Call my husband and email my critique partner. Depending on how challenging the book was or how tight the deadline, I might request dinner out with a lovely cocktail on the side.
ALEXA:
What is your favorite tradition from your childhood that you would love to
pass
on or did pass on to your children?
ROBYN: Christmas was always a big deal at
my house. My mom loves to buy presents and she’s always very creative and
thoughtful, and every year she’d give us kids a new ornament so that when we
grew up and started our own families we’d have ornaments to decorate our trees.
When we adopted our girls we started the same tradition with them. I love
picking out their ornaments and this year they were very excited to get them. ALEXA: Robyn, what's next for you?
ROBYN: A LITTLE BIT SINFUL (book 2 in Forbidden Love series, Spring 2013)

DeleteHi Robyn
ReplyDeleteI love a good fairy tale and I don't care if it's action (although a little steam goes a long way) as long as I fall in love with the characters.
Welcome, Robyn, I love forbidden love stories. And cocktails once a deadline is completed. Best wishes!

DeleteShe was a fascinating character to write, that's for sure. I had a great time with this book, Vivian and Marcus had chemistry from the moment they first got on the page together. That's a magical thing when that happens - I hope it translates to being a magical read. I love your name, by the way.
