Get Lost in Sandra Sookoo's latest release: Coming Up Daffy

He loves me, he loves me not, he…wait, am I like a platypus?

Alice Attler has a green thumb in everything except cultivating relationships. Though she’s more comfortable encouraging green things to grow, she’s mystified that every relationship she’s had has withered. When a client’s daffodils won’t grow, she heads to the bait shop for earthworms where she meets Mark.

Mark Kincaide doesn’t know what to do with himself. His brother is on his honeymoon and he’s stuck with Grandma for company. Plus, he’s not a fan of the evil llamas. Just once he wants to do something heroic and be known as someone other than the bait guy. When the local plant specialist/florist comes calling, he can’t take his eyes off her…and it’s for more than catching a glimpse of bird poop in her hair.

An innocent trip to a river bank to dig up bulbs puts Alice in danger and Mark finally has his chance to play the hero. After things settle down, he hopes he and Alice will have more in common than just worms and a penchant for taking tumbles into embarrassing moments.

Here's brief excerpt:

Set-up: We’re in Mark’s POV, and he’s been trying to teach Alice how to fish. She hasn’t got the hang of it so he’s done the classic “stand behind her and how her how” move.

He wrapped his right arm around her, fully tucking her into an embrace. This time he bent his head and buried his nose into her hair. Wow, I could get used to this. On the heels of that thought, he sent up a quick prayer that a potential relationship with her would work out.

She smelled like a mixture of peaches and flowers. I think I’m in big trouble. Having her so close, thinking halfway intimate thoughts about her had things tightening behind his fly.

Yup, I’m in big, big trouble.

Clearing his throat, he released her and stepped away. “Well, we can always work on your casting skills later.”

Obviously, if he was going to make fishing lessons a side business, getting this close to clients was not on the agenda.

More about Sandra Sookoo (in her own words).

Thanks for stopping by Get Lost in a Story. I'm a foodie and whenever my mind is in a funk, I head to the kitchen! I love baking and cooking and will try anything once. I’m also a Walt Disney World nut. If it’s got Disney’s name on it, I can probably talk your ear off on the subject. I’ve been prone to using Disney lyrics to kick off blog posts and explain life problems. LOL!
My passion is being an author of romantic fiction. I write in the sci-fi, contemporary, historical, and paranormal genres, sometimes blending genres for that little bit of edge. If you’re looking for shorts, novellas or full-length pieces ranging from sweet to spicy heat levels, I urge you to check out my website. http://sandrasookoo.wordpress.com/tag/coming-up-daffy/

Note from Jillian: As we approach summer, I've been asking our guest authors to share a few vacation snapshots with us. Sandi and her husband just got back from Disney World. Here a few photos, which Sandi has captioned for our entertainment. Lol!

Statue of Walt disney and Mickey. Caption: Never stop dreaming and believing!

Two monster topiaries from Disney's upcoming Monster University.
Caption: The monster on the right is saying: "She's such a diva!"

Me and Goofy.  Caption: There's something wrong when a dog makes breakfast...

Sandra has a question/challenge for commenters: As an author of quirky characters, I'm always on the prowl for new ones. If you had the chance to create a resident of my fictional town of Francesville, what sort of character would you want to see? Feel free to describe personality, traits, etc.
Giveaway: I have a swag packet leftover from my RT At Home blog event (see photo below) One randomly drawn winner will win this, a digital copy of Twelve Kisses Later (which is the first book in the Francesville series) and--if the commenter has answered the question--their idea for a character will appear in an upcoming Francesville story!

One lucky commenter will win a digital copy of Twelve Kisses, a swag packet, plus have your character appear in Sandi's next Francesville story!
***Note: Offer void where prohibited. Prizes will be mailed to North America  addresses only. If an Advanced Reading Copy (ARC) is available, the author may utilize that option for International participants. Odds of winning vary due to the number of entrants.

  3. Sounds like a fun read. :) Love the title and the excerpt. :)

I like my cranky, eccentric character. So maybe someone female who is a bit old but smart-assed and no non-sense. Someone like a smart but loving grandma type?

  9. What a fun sounding series, Sandra! As for adding a quirky new character? I guess I'm fond of the plain-Jane types--the smart, geeky ones who might be initially a little quiet, not because they don't have anything to contribute, but because they're clever enough to hold their tongues until appropriate, and who have a willingness to help and who are compassionate. And a wicked sense of humor wouldn't hurt--I love it when someone you don't expect drops a zinger ;)

Best wishes for this series, Sandra!
