Now, let's get down to the really important book business.
Title: Carry Me Home.
Setting: Glenhalish, my fictional version of Glenfinnan in the Highlands of Scotland. Here are some pictures to put you in the right mood for reading this book!

(Pictures used with permisson from author Vonda Sinclair.)

Genre: Contemporary romance. Yes, you read that right. It's set in Scotland and it is NOT an historical romance!
Characters: Jamie and Mary MacDougall, a married couple who appeared as secondary characters in my 1st book, Her Highland Champion. They had too much to tell me and demanded their own story.
Length: It's only about 50 pages, folks! A quick, satisfying read!

After six months in the city, Mary MacDougall returns to the Scottish Highlands to finalize her divorce. Because of a past tragedy, she doubts her husband Jamie can possibly love her with the same unbridled passion as before and insists ending the marriage is best for both of them. But Jamie has other ideas….

Jamie MacDougall has no intention of letting his bonnie lass go. At least not without a fight. Aye, they’ve suffered heartache, and she may be ready to call it quits, but he refuses to throw away the partnership they’ve built since they were children. Instead, he’ll remind her they were meant to be together, forever.

Can this marriage survive pride and grief to allow love to carry them home?
I want to share with you the song that inspired and ultimately helped me finish this book. It's called I Will Carry You by Selah. I was playing around on You Tube and I clicked on this song.

The music was so lyrical and the singing too. I literally had tears in my eyes. When it was over, I replayed it...probably several times. The story shared within the words fit my couple perfectly. I had been struggling with the writing before this, but this just opened up my heart to listen to what Jamie and Mary had to say to me and to each other. I'm so thrilled with the outcome and I hope you will be too!

So, are you tempted to try this book out yet?

  3. Thanks, everyone! Amanda, yes, music does often inspire me. However, no other song has been THIS strong of an inspiration. At least, not that I can remember.

  5. Alexa, this is such an enticing book. I'm such a contemporary girl when it comes to reading and this hits ALL the right sweet spots for me -- a contemporary Scottish romance? Oh, yeah baby! And the song--tears in my eyes too. Can't wait to pick this up and start in. Thanks for sharing the journey with us!
