The Blurb

Book One in the time travel, fantasy romance series, Highland Secrets!

She never believed in magic…

Claire McGowan, Scotophile and historical romance novel addict, finally saves up enough for her dream vacation to Scotland.  She never imagines she’ll get sucked back to the seventeenth century while running on the beach—that’s what she gets for exercising when she should be relaxing.

He knows with a harsh certainty magic exists...

The Fae have taken his brother—Laird of his clan. Duncan MacLeod finds a bonnie naked and confused lass. He’s convinced Claire arrived in 1672 through the Faery Stones—a magical portal he’s been scouring the lands for over the past six months.  At last, he has someone who’s been through the Faery Stones and can help him find them—and get his brother back.

Duncan promises to help Claire get home, even though his desire to have her wars with his vow.

Torn between familiarity of the present and what she wants in the past, can Claire help Duncan find his brother and get back to the future? Will she even want to?

Meet C.A.!

Multigenre, award winning and bestselling author of romantic suspense and fantasy romance, C.A. is originally from Ohio, but got to Texas as soon as she could. She is married and has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.

She works with kids when she’s not writing.

She’s always wanted to be a writer and is overjoyed to share her stories with the world.

Let's find out more!

Lara: How often to you get lost in a story?
C.A.: Oh, all the time! I read as much as I write, or I try to. I feel like if writers don’t read, we get too stuck in our own heads, or at least I do.

Lara: Fairy Tale or Action Adventure?
C.A.: LOL! I can’t choose! I love them both! I guess it depends on what mood I am in. I love fairy tales because they leave you smiling and feeling warm and fuzzy inside. I love action adventures because they leave you on the edge of your seat rooting for the characters all the way.

Lara: What is your hero’s “kryptonite” – in other words, what will bring him instantly to his knees?
C.A.: Losing his family. Duncan is a strong highland warrior but he needs his brother, father, and sister to live instead of survive. And of course, he’s even worse after he falls in love. Then he can’t imagine losing Claire. [Lara: All together now: "Awww!"]

Lara: What’s your favorite “love” word?
C.A.: I guess I’m simple, so “love” does it for me. LOL. [Lara: If it ain't broke...]

Lara: Where do you read and how often?
C.A.: As much as I can. I have a kindle, and a nook and a tablet with both apps and a kobo app too. I read mostly ebooks these days. I try to read at least one a book a week.

Lara: Do you write while listening to music? If so what kind?
C.A.: Yes. I need it for “background” noise. I usually listen to the songs on my iPhone, which are mostly rock and alternative. Or I put on the radio, tuned in to 102.1 the edge.

Lara: Which of your characters would you most/least to invite to dinner, and why?
C.A.: Most, please. Cole Lucas, the hero of the first book in my romantic suspense series, Crossing Forces. His book is called Collision Force. He’s an FBI agent and he’s a smart-mouth, so we have that in common. I think he’d been interesting to talk to given his work history. Oh, and plus he’s super hot. [Lara: Naturally! :)]

Lara: Tea or Coffee? And how do you take it?
C.A.: Coffee. With lotsa cream and sugar. It’s tan when I’m done. LOL.

Lara: What could we find in your heroine's purse?

C.A.: Claire isn’t much of a girly-girl, so she doesn’t carry a purse. She goes back in time with nothing but her MP3 Player (Literally, her clothes go bye-bye) but if she was in 2014 Texas where she’s from, I guess she’d have her wallet and ID. She’d have a small bag with chapstick and a pen, maybe a small notebook. She’s pretty practical. Oh, she’d definitely have her e-reader.

Lara: How did you come up with the idea for your book?
C.A.: Honestly, this one was one of those sit-up-in-bed-gasping moment. (at 4:23AM. I looked at the clock) The story hit hard and fast, and complete. I couldn’t wait to write it and I did so in 3 weeks. Not sure where it came from, but it was a blast to write. I have always loved Scottish Highlander romances. Never thought I’d ever write a time travel or anything truly historical, though there’s Fae and Magic, too. This is a trilogy, book 2 will be out in May. So it looks like it will continue to be something coming easily to me (at least I hope). [Lara: I hope so, too! :)]

Lara’s GOTTA ASK:  What are the next five books on your ‘to be read’ pile?
C.A.’s GOTTA ANSWER:   The King, by J.R. Ward. The Hunter, and then The Raider both by Monica McCarty (I’m a lil behind on her series, but I adore it.) Thomas’s Choice by Tina Folsom and last but not least, Heart Fortune, by Robin D. Owens.

Calculated Collision (Crossing Forces Book Three)

She’s the one Nate can’t stop thinking about. The one he let get away. He’s determined to get her back, no matter what she thinks she wants. Being a witness in her case puts them close—and Nate intends to keep it that way.

After Nate’s attacked at a safe house, Lee knows there’s a leak – a dirty FBI agent working with the human trafficker her unit has been hunting for years.
