SWEET TALKING MAN

Home in Magnolia Bend
Harlequin SuperRomance

Who doesn't want a little sweet talk?

Leif Lively is the hottest thing to happen to Magnolia Bend. But single mother Abigail Orgeron figures he's another heartbreaker and does her best to ignore the steamy glances he tosses her way. When he speaks, though, her resistance crumbles! His sweet words, humor and laid-back ways captivate buttoned-up Abigail.

For once, losing control feels so good, and this no-strings arrangement is getting serious. What will she do when Leif solves the family mystery that brought him to town and decides to leave? Because she's learning that the biggest love means taking the biggest risk…

Read a Little, Buy the Book

LIZ TALLEY was a finalist in RWA’s Golden Heart contest with a historical romance but soon after hit her stride writing sassy contemporary romances set where the tea is sweet and the Southern men are hot. She loves strawberries, fishing, retail therapy (especially at Target), and she’s a Virgo.  Liz married her high school sweetheart and has two smart, beautiful boys.  When not writing, she is usually found working in the flowerbeds or doing laundry.

THE Q&A
ANGI: Where do you read and how often?
LIZI read anywhere and everywhere, but mostly bed. I read before I go to sleep each night but seldom in the day anymore because my world is so busy. I’m looking forward to having more time…someday. I have lots of TBR books piled up physically and on my kindle.

ANGI: Bugs Bunny or Mickey Mouse?
LIZThough I’m a huge Disney fan, I gotta go with Bugs. He’s slick, funny and knows how to give a monster a manicure.
Cumberbatch as Khan
Hiddleston as Loki

ANGI: Benedict Cumberbatch or Tom Hiddleston?

LIZ: Who are these guys? I think I’ve seen the Benedict guy and he’s a bit too skinny for my taste so I’ll go with Tom…though I don’t have a clue who he is. How about I just take that Hemingsworth guy who played Thor? He’s pretty cute.
Chris Hemsworth
ANGI: What do you like about the hero of SWEET TALKING MAN?
LIZ: Leif is different from most heroes. He’s a true beta, but a sexy one. He’s all about art, nature and owning who you are. I envisioned him as a modern-day Transcendentalist. His laid-back ways and sense of self are exactly what my uptight Abigail needed to let go.

ANGI: Beaches or Ski Resorts?
LIZ: I’ve never been skiing! So I guess I’ll go with the beach. I particularly like the Emerald Coast of Florida. Seaside is my favorite but really any sugar beach in that area will do. However, my idea of a true getaway involves a fancy hotel, a good meal and cocktails J

ANGI: What's your most favorite thing to do in your state?
LIZ: Got to the Big Easy…or an LSU game. And there is my pier on Caddo Lake with those pretty sunsets. Thing is, I love so much about my state and I try like mad to portray that in my books. Louisiana is a cultural oasis with interesting people who love life and good food. From the Mardi Gras parades to the quiet beauty of the swamps, it’s a great place to live. Do I sound like I work for the tourism department? LOL.

ANGI: What’s your favorite snack food?
LIZ: I love Hot Tamales (candy) and chips and salsa.

ANGI: Which is your favorite flower in your garden?
LIZ: Before I started writing, I prided myself on being a decent gardener. Today I stick with low maintenance plants because with a busy family and writing, I can’t spend enough time loving on my flowers. So I love a good hydrangea and my guilty pleasure are peonies (though mine didn’t bloom this year). I also love to plant sweet potato vines because it’s riotous and fills in gaps.

ANGI: How is it working with hot guys and sexy women all day?
LIZ: Exhausting. Leaves me little time to attempt to look hot and sexy myself. My poor husband. I play with sexy guys all day and he comes home to me in sweat pants and messy hair. You  think these characters would rub off on me. Hmmm….I think I need a spa day.

ANGI’S GOTTA ASK: If you could have the day with Hugh Grant, what would you do?

LIZ’S GOTTA ANSWER: Well, since he’s my favorite actor, I’d start with coffee and a discussion of his career, getting the scoop on who is easy to work with and who is an absolute nightmare. Then we’d stroll around Notting Hill (‘cause I love that movie) and pop into shops. We’d skip lunch in favor of high tea and then after a long nap (separate rooms, of course) we’d go out to a nice dinner and then the theatre (or vice versa). After a night cap in a pub, I’d get him to tell me about that thing with the prostitute. Though I love his movies, he’s not my type (no likey skinny, pretty boys). But I appreciate his charm and drollness portrayed in his films and would love to spend the day with him.

A mistake that's meant to be…

All John Beauchamp wants is a simple life. He's happy running his Louisiana sugar cane plantation and doesn't want more than that. Then Shelby Mackey breezes in, announcing that she's pregnant. Their one crazy night of passion has changed everything.

Except Shelby insists John doesn't have to be involved—she'll raise the baby herself. But John can't let her go that easily. Even without the baby, Shelby is a breath of fresh air. Her call-it-as-she-sees-it attitude intrigues and attracts him. So when Shelby agrees to stay temporarily, John's determined to make that stay permanent—and as sweet as can be.

LIZ WANTS TO KNOW: In Sweet Talking Man, the heroine Abigail has been focusing on being a good mother so much so that she ends up strangling poor Birdie, making her more rebellious (and a bit of a PITA). So what’s the best advice you can give a mother who is too invested in her child(ren)?

  4. Okay, I have to admit Chris Hemsworth is drool-worthy for sure. But Benedict Cumberbatch is AWESOME. You have to check him out in Sherlock some time. The voice. OH MY... the voice.

    1. Never seen it but perhaps I should. He's a bit skinny and too intellectual for me. I like broad faces hence the Thor fellow :) Each to her own, I suppose.

  6. I'm loving how affronted people are at my ignorance. Now that Hiddlestone guy is NOT ever going to be my type, but I will watch a Sherlock episode and see if I cannot be persuaded toward Benedict. Perhaps his magic powers will entrap me. LOL.

  8. Give them room to learn from their mistakes. Of course my daughter at 16 thinks I am a controlling Mom because I tell her to feed the cats or eat breakfast. yenastone at aol dot com
