I haven't had the privilege of meeting Taryn Leigh Taylor in person yet, but I'm looking forward to it. Look at what I found on her website:
"Because I am a fierce advocate of literacy and of women, 10% of my royalties for KISS AND MAKEUP will be donated to World Literacy Canada in support of their vision for a better world. Thank you so much for your support of my novel and this important cause."
Taryn Leigh Taylor likes dinosaurs, bridges, and space, both personal and of the final frontier variety. She shamelessly indulges in clichés, most notably her Starbucks addiction (grande-six-pump-whole-milk-no-water chai tea latte, aka: the usual), her shoe hoard (I can stop anytime I...ooh! These are pretty!), and her penchant for falling in lust with fictional men with great abs (Roarke, Harvey Specter, Kid Chaos, Dean Winchester, and so on, ad infinitum.)
She also really loves books, which is what sent her down the crazy path of writing one in the first place.
FIND TARYN
ANGI: How often to you get lost in a story?
TARYN: As often as possible, and not nearly enough! If real life didn’t get in the way, I’m pretty sure I could happily barricade myself in a library and read my way out.
ANGI: Hugh Jackman or Chris Pine?
TARYN: Hugh Jackman FTW!
ANGI: What’s your favorite meal?
TARYN: I’m not a very picky eater and I love trying new things! That being said, I would never turn down endless Alaskan King Crab legs with a vat of melted butter.
ANGI: What do you like about the hero of your book?
TARYN: ABS! Seriously, the cover gods knocked Playing to Win out of the park! But seriously, and despite that mixed sport metaphor, I think what I like best about Luke is how much he cares. While he can be almost too serious for his own good, it’s because his teammates and his family mean the world to him. I find that kind of responsibility very sexy.
ANGI: Sand or Snow?
TARYN: Since I life in the land of snow, I have to say that sand is most definitely a welcome novelty!
ANGI: Superman or Batman?
TARYN: Batman for sure! Partly because the brooding bad boy is more interesting to me than the prom king, and partly because I fell in love with Newsies at a formative age (aka: boy crazy), so Christian Bale holds a special place in my heart.
ANGI: What’s your favorite rerun on television?
TARYN: I’ve become weirdly obsessed with Forensic Files lately. I might have to put all that murder knowledge to work one day and write some mystery or suspense instead of the straight-up romantic comedy I write now. Who knows? Maybe a sexy cop is in my writing future...
ANGI: What drinks or snacks are always on your desk when you’re writing?
TARYN: Harney and Sons hot cinnamon tea has become my constant companion.
ANGI: Who’s your favorite villain?
TARYN: I hope this isn’t cheating, but my favourite villain is the entire cast of Suits! I love how I can simultaneously love and hate each and every one of them, depending on the situation. Flawed characters are so much more interesting that straight-up villains.
ANGI: Hiking Boots or Dancing Heels?
TARYN: Dancing heels…because you only need one pair of hiking boots, but there are so many styles, colours, and heel-heights when it comes to dancing shoes that it would be a crime to stop at only one pair. (And yes, in case that didn’t make it obvious enough, I do have a shoe fetish.)
ANGI: Are you a Star Wars fan? Favorite thing about the reboot?
TARYN: That’s a no-brainer! Seeing Han Solo in the Millennium Falcon again was epic.
ANGI’S GOTTA ASK: So, Taryn…are you a hockey fan?
TARYN’s GOTTA ANSWER: They would revoke my Canadian citizenship if I said no! I really do love hockey--it’s fast-paced and requires a really high level of fitness and skill. And while I’m an NHL devotee, I really love that women’s hockey has developed to such a high caliber. Fun fact: I played hockey for a couple of years, though my stick handling left a LOT to be desired.
KISS AND MAKEUP
A hot shade of lipstick calls for a hot, sexy guy…
Makeup artist Chloe Masterson has a look for every occasion. Flying home for your sister's wedding and family torture? Easy. Bring out the sarcastic wit and black eyeliner. Bonus—the look catches the eye of the corporate hottie sitting beside her on the plane. Turns out Ben has the exact same last name, and everyone assumes they're married.
When they get stuck in a hotel room together, Chloe decides to accept the gift the Fates have bestowed upon her. (Tip: a bold lip color does wonders for seduction.) But as their lies begin to snowball, Chloe and Ben find it harder and harder to distinguish between what's real and what's all just smoky eyes and mirrors.
Playing to win means playing dirty…
Luke Maguire sees right through Holly's bunny disguise, and he's ready to pull her into the locker room and strip it all off. Then Holly discovers someone on the team is profiting from a little over/under betting. Suddenly her lusting for Luke is going head-to-head with her reporting instincts. And if she's caught offside, there's no telling what the penalty will be…
UP NEXT for TARYN
Right now I’m hard at work writing a few of Luke’s hot hockey teammates. No release dates yet, but I’d love to come back to Get Lost In a Story once all the details are ironed out!

TARYN WANTS TO KNOW: Since I wrote a hockey book, I’m sure it’s no surprise that hockey is my favourite spectator sport. (Although I enjoy a good tennis match as well!) I’m curious to know what sport you can’t get enough of watching. Leave your answer in the comments below, but also enter the Rafflecopter for a chance to win a signed copy of Playing to Win!
Hi Taryn. Nice to see you here. I am a Los Angeles Kings fan. Also, Blaze is one of my favorite lines. yenalastone at aol dot com
ReplyDeleteHi Tammy! It's great to be here. Glad to hear someone else shares my love of hockey and Blaze! :)
DeleteCongrats on your GLIAS debut Taryn! :) It's a always a pleasure to meet a fellow Starbucksaholic! I'm a Mocha gal myself -- extra hot in the winter, iced with an extra shot of espresso in the summer. I have both of your books on my TBR pile and swear I will get to them soon!
ReplyDeleteHi Lynn! Thanks for the warm welcome, and I am glad not be alone in the cult of Starbucks. (I used to order straight of the menu...they made me a monster with all their suggestions! "Have you tried *insert delicious idea here*?") I am proud to be part of your TBR pile! Happy reading. :)
DeleteThe only sport I watch on a regular basis is my Baltimore Ravens football -- I don't hate baseball or hockey and will occasionally watch a game, but I don't follow a particular team or watch regularly. :)
ReplyDeleteI will admit, sports are much more exciting when you're invested and rooting for someone! Though I will admit, when it comes to baseball, I'd rather watch the highlight reel than the actual game... ;)
DeleteHey, Taryn, fellow Suits lover here (eye candy galore!!!) and who can't love/hate Louis! My favourite sport is hockey but my husband doesn't love the game. I grew up watching it. Every Saturday night when I was a kid! I've fallen out of the rhythm - no cable or satellite television and Netflix won't show hockey games so I'm blanked! Anyhow, so glad to see Luke getting his own book. Love that everyone else gets to experience your crazy-wonderful talents!
ReplyDeleteSuits is the best! Except for the resulting Suits ulcer I have to nurse every week. Just when I think there's nothing more that could go wrong... Thanks so much for the support. :)
DeleteI enjoy NASCAR, but as for other sports... I enjoy playing more than watching...
ReplyDeleteI like to hear that, Colleen! It's awesome to jump into the action for sure. I have quite a few sports I would rather play than watch... :)
DeleteWelcome Taryn to GLIAS !!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read this book.
Thanks for having me, Angi. I'm afraid my comments are a bit late due to my contracting the plague, but it was amazing to be here. :)
Deletenone
ReplyDeleteTotally valid lifestyle choice. :D
DeleteI like watching basketball, like hockey, it's always on the move! And it's a perfect time of year--catching any of these college games is always fun.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I like about hockey--constant action. I'm afraid I do less well with sports that have a lot of downtime. Sorry golf. ;)
DeleteThe only sports team I follow would have to be the Australian Olympic team
ReplyDelete- en masse.
Olympics are always amazing! It's incredible how caught up I can get in sports that don't even register on my radar any other time of year!
