E.E. Burke's Best of #RT2017: Making Memories

Today I'm sharing memories from last week's RT Convention. Wow, what a week! Non-stop action with dozens of workshops and events. Lots of catching up with old friends and making new ones. I think that's the best part.

The conference kicked off in style with a historical ball. Here are pictures from our Petticoats and Pistols Garden Party.
Amanda McIntyre puts this party together each year and she does an amazing job! I got to go behind the scenes to see some of the preparation work. Check out these teacups that were used for table decorations.

Ciara "Scarlett" Knigh

The costumes this year were phenomenal. Everyone came in their period garb, representing all eras. Check out Ciara's gorgeous Southern Belle gown.

Rosanne Bittner took the prize for the most "misbehaving" costume! She calls it her "Miss Kitty" look! Must be getting all gussied up for Marshall Dillon.

Historical ladies: Can you find E.E Burke, Amanda McIntyre and Regan Walker?
Who else do you recognize?

Thursday we rallied with readers for the Pioneer Hearts Hoedown and Cowboy Corral.

Author Caroline Lee brought her four-month-old daughter. Here's Amelia Adams taking her turn playing with the baby. Princess Wiggles stole the show with her smiles. I think she was trying to win the "best-behaved baby" award.

During the Cowboy Corral we got in a little line dancing and showed off our boots. Are you a boot lover? Got any favorite pairs?

On Friday, after the awards ceremony, the authors in the Magnolias and Moonshine collection hosted a Southern County Fair, featuring music by Georgia country music artist Thomas Fountain.

Readers were treated to games and giveaways. I teamed up with Tina DeSalvo in the bean bag toss (or corn hole, as some call it). Overall, the event had more than 400 attendees and the dancing went on until 11:30 p.m.

I also had a chance to meet many readers throughout the conference and at the RT Giant Bookfair on Saturday. What an honor and delight!

Have you ever been to an RT convention? Or any readers/writers events? What was your favorite part?
