The news they're after isn't fake—it's deadly
For top security expert Parker Lawton, the anonymous threat is explosive. Return the gold stolen during his intelligence unit's last Iraq mission—or they'll each be hunted down. And when one of his men is killed just before meeting investigative reporter Rebecca Wallace, he must take her under his "protection." But her persistence in getting the real story is even more dangerous—and irresistible.
For a dashing war hero, Parker is the most guilty-acting innocent man Becca has ever seen. Still, working with him is the only way to stay ahead of a ruthless enemy. And as her instincts and Parker's skills hone in on the truth, trusting the desire simmering between them could be their only chance—or the last move they'll ever make.

THE Q&A
ANGI: How often to you get lost in a story?
REGAN: Every day! No matter how much time I spend lost in various adventures with my characters, I make time to savor stories by other authors. Reading is a non-negotiable part of my daily schedule and has been my go-to escape to unwind and relax for as long as I can remember.
ANGI: What’s your favorite thing about your book’s hero?
REGAN: With Daniel Jennings, hunky firefighter and home renovator in Protecting Her Secret Son, my favorite thing is probably the way he held back. He’d wanted to date Shannon for a long time and when he recalled the first time he saw her (years prior to the current turmoil in the book) my heart melted.
And Parker Lawton of Reluctant Hero? All of his security techniques and gadgets were fun toys as Deb and I wrote the book, but for me it was the way his conscience plagued him as he did the wrong things for the right reasons to keep Becca safe. (Don’t worry, she holds him accountable and he makes up for those errors.)
ANGI: Salad or soup?
REGAN: This time of year, with football in full swing and in anticipation of cooler weather, my answer is soup. Especially something hearty and spicy like a minestrone or chili.
ANGI: Favorite TV rerun you watch every time you channel surf?
REGAN: Friends. That crew sucks me in every time.
ANGI: Favorite date night…fancy or at home?
REGAN: We tend to keep date nights simple with dinner and a movie, most often at home, but we’ve made a habit of seeking out fancy new restaurants for our anniversary.
ANGI: Champagne or Soda?
REGAN: Champagne! In fact, a few years back I changed up my ‘book is done’ happy dance from a wild housecleaning frenzy to popping open a bottle of cheap champagne and I save the housework for the next day.
ANGI: Geek or Jock?
REGAN: Former jock, perennial geek. Fell in love with and married a former jock who is also a perennial geek. Growing up, I ran cross-country in the fall and track and field for our city team through spring and summer. And I embraced the band geek role long before it was called such a thing. As a percussionist, I played snare in the marching band drum line and spent two seasons as a drum major/field-conductor. These days I’m much more geek than jock, and let my characters to all the running amok.
ANGI: The most daring thing you’ve ever done… Care to share?
REGAN: Hmm… There was the time I took a billy goat to friends as a housewarming gift. The poor little guy didn’t like stop signs, so to save our ears from the bleating, I ran most of the four way stops on those rural roads. Probably a more daring adventure was crewing on a 28ft. E-scow sail team for the Mug Race (an annual race on the St. John’s River from Palatka to Jacksonville, Florida). Of course being an Army wife and raising two kids has made for some hair-raising moments of daring-do through the years.
ANGI’s GOTTA ASK: What’s your favorite pair of shoes & why?
REGAN’S GOTTA ANSWER: These sassy shoes are my current favorites. They go with everything and they are just too fun.

ReplyDeleteGood choice! Those were always my dad's favorite. :)
DeleteI like reeses, but am a bit of an oddball these days it seems. I like candy corn, circus peanuts, neeco wafers, smarties, laffy taffy I keep reading that no one likes them
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. LOL I used to munch on circus peanuts during long cross-country drives and my husband would just shake his head. ;)
ReplyDeleteRegan, I have not found an email about being one of the winners. I haven't been through all of todays yet though. You could message me on Facebook. I am listed as Patricia Barraclough.
