Meet Gabe Townsend

THE CHASE
Justifiable Cause Series, Novella #1
ASIN: B00B2CECJK

Hard-driving attorney Jo Pomeroy is as determined as she is sexy—in other words, a major pain in NYPD Sergeant Gabe Townsend’s butt. Working together on a high-profile task force charged with busting sales of counterfeit goods has been rocky from the start. And Jo’s penchant for trouble is as difficult to ignore as her spectacular legs.

The world of knock-offs isn’t as frivolous as it appears. The purses are fake, but the danger is all too real—and Jo seems hell-bent on putting herself in the middle of it. Her investigations have uncovered valuable leads for Gabe’s team, but they’ve also drawn the wrong kind of attention.

Now, she’s on the radar of a mysterious smuggler not afraid to use violence to evade the law. At the risk of their lives—and their hearts—Gabe and Jo must find him before he finds them.

TURNING THE INTERROGATION TOWARD GABE TOWNSEND
the hero from the Justifiable Cause Series

ANGI: How often to you get lost in a story?
GABE: Gabe Townsend here. Thanks for having me, Angi. Being an NYPD Sergeant assigned to ESU—more commonly known as S.W.A.T.—I get lost in a story every day. Multiple times.

ANGI: What’s your favorite “love” word?
GABE: I have three. Jo. Pomeroy’s. Legs. The woman has amazing legs. I dream about those legs. Except when I see them dangling from a fourth floor window she’s trying to climb out of. Then I get pissy.

ANGI: Can you tell us about a real-life hero you’ve met?
GABE: There’s a lot of nonsense in my job, but the other day I saw a businessman give a homeless guy his coat. That’s the stuff that sticks with me. I hang on to that and it keeps me sane.
ANGI: That is one of my favorite answers, Gabe. Thanks for sharing that!

ANGI: What’s your favorite fairy tale?
GABE: Anything featuring Jo’s legs.

ANGI: What’s your favorite cartoon character?
GABE: Popeye. No idea why. Plus, I hate spinach.

ANGI: What do you like about the hero of your book?
GABE: I’ll talk about Jo. There’s a lot to like about her. Besides her legs. Kidding! She’s a lawyer and she’s brilliant and mouthy and that gets me fired up. The thing I most admire is she’s fearless. This makes me nuts too though. I’m conflicted! Isn’t that a big deal with you novelists? That I’m conflicted? Anyway, Jo constantly (sometimes at the risk of her own safety) throws herself into the fray. Doing what I do for a living, I get it. There’s a rush that comes with the action. Still, I’d like her not to do it, which I usually suggest and she usually ignores, but we’re of the same mind when it comes to adrenalin. We’re junkies.
ANGI: What sound or noise do you love?
GABE:  The sounds of the city. Car horns, sirens, trucks, feet on pavement. If I go somewhere quiet, it makes me twitchy.
ANGI: Fairy Tale or Action Adventure?
GABE: Please. Action Adventure. I work in New York City. All I have to do is step outside and I’m in the action.

ANGI: What’s your favorite movie of all time?
GABE:  There’s a bunch, but a few stand out. Bull Durham is a great guy movie. Baseball, women, a guy wearing lingerie when he pitches, it’s all good. The Last of the Mohicans is another one of my favorites.

ANGI: Who’s your favorite villain?
GABE:  I’m a cop. My favorite villain is the one I just took down.

ANGI: What is your biggest vice?
GABE: Jo Pomeroy’s legs.

ANGI: Is there a “Blooper” in your story (it may have been changed before printing)?
GABE: My attempt at telling Jo what to do was a monster blooper. Eee-doggies, that was painful. She straightened my a—butt—out. Can’t say it’ll stop me next time. I worry about her and that won’t change. She’ll have to live with it. And, I guess, I’ll get used to the verbal beatings.

ANGI: How is it working with hot guys and sexy women all day?
GABE: I’ll pass on the hot guys, but being around sexy women never gets old. Jo doesn’t call me Mr. August for nothing. Just saying, ladies.

ANGI’S GOTTA ASK: Tell us what's coming up in your new JUSTIFIABLE CAUSE series.
ADRIENNE'S GOTTA ANSWER:  That Gabe, he’s so naughty. J In the next story, Evasion, Jo and Gabe continue their hunt for a counterfeit goods smuggler. The next story will take them out of New York City though and Gabe’s not very happy about that.  They’ll still have plenty of fun though.

OPPOSING FORCES
Private Protectors series
June 10

Jackson Lynx always has a plan. He wouldn’t be Vice President at Taylor Security if he wasn’t steady, smart and reliable. But as capable as he is, he’s not perfect. Approaching the one-year anniversary of kicking his prescription-drug habit, the last thing Lynx needs is temptation. Celibacy is part of his recovery plan. But then Jillian Murdoch asks for his help…

Jillian loves her job—managing pharmaceutical distribution—and she’s suspicious when an unscheduled delivery shows up late on a Friday night. Then someone breaks into her home and, terrified, she asks Lynx to install a security system. Grateful for his help, she’s wary of her attraction to him… She recognizes the Serenity Prayer on his mirror and can’t get involved with an addict.

But when they uncover dangerous secrets they’ll have to trust one another. Their lives, and their hearts, depend on it.

ADRIENNE WANTS TO KNOW: Who are your favorite heroes and heroines from any book?

  1. Hi,

I've just re-read the series A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE by George RR Martin. So many heroes & strong heroines to admire. My favorite heroine is actually a very young girl. Such courage & strength & honesty.

  2. Hi, Mary. I haven't read this series, but I'll pick it up. Love the name.

I always enjoy reading books where characters grab me and won't let go. It makes the story all the more fun.

    Thanks for saying hi.

  3. I like Gabe's honesty and that he loves Jo's legs so much. :) My favorite hero/heroines from books? That is touch. Well, my favorite hero would have to be Conrad Flynn from Misty Evan's Operation Sheba. There is just something about him. And my favorite heroine? That would have to be Roxanne from Risking Trust. I love her toughness when so much craziness is going on in her life. Congrats on the success Adrienne. I look forward to more books in both your series. :)

  4. Hi, Amy! Oh, Conrad is a good one. I'm partial to Michael Stone from that series though. Misty writes fantastic heroes.

I'm thrilled to see Roxann on your list! Thank you. That's a great compliment. I was actually in a workshop last weekend and the presenter used an example from Risking Trust. The line she used was from the scene where Rox sees Michael for the first time after all those years apart. It made me a little weepy for Rox! LOL.

    1. I love all your books for different reasons and some are more fun than others (Billy's for example) but I think Risking Trust is my favorite. I think it is the second chance love story on top of the murder craze that gets me in RT.

  5. Adrienne -

You know Vic is one of my fave of your heroes. He and Billy are neck and neck (don't tell Vic!). I have to say I loved Gabe in this novella and can't wait to see more of him!

  6. Good Morning Adrienne --
Welcome back to GLIAS, and a special welcome to Gabe (LOVED YOUR ANSWERS!).

I hope you don't mind my picture of the Times Square police station. I always get a kick out of seeing PD in neon. ~Angi

  7. Hey, Adrienne! I love Gabe. He's nothing if not focused...on Jo's legs! I have some unusual picks for favorite hero and heroine. My favorite heroine ever is Hester Prynne from The Scarlet Letter, and my favorite hero is really an antihero. I love/hate Adair from Alma Katsu's The Taker and The Reckoning. Congrats on THE CHASE! Looking forward to reading more of your hot heroes in your upcoming releases! :)

    1. Tracy, Gabe is definitely focused. I had great fun with him.

Ooh, The Scarlet Letter. I haven't read that one in years. I may have to read it on my vacation! As for the love/hate relationship, those are always fun. I love an author who can make us feel that way about characters.

  8. Adrienne and Gabe--

Great interview! I'm in love with all Adrienne's heroes. They're so much fun. Can't wait for EVASION!

  9. All my buds are out in force today. You guys are the bomb.

Thank you for the great compliment. I think I may have been a man in a prior life because the heroes seem to be easier for me to create than the heroines. Go figure.

I'm excited for Evasion. Gabe decided this morning he wants to become a member of an exclusive club that I'm not going to mention here. He's always thinking. :)

    Thanks for popping by!

    1. Hi, Donnell. You should love Mel and Joe. They're awesome characters! Such a great book. :)

I'm glad you like Gina and Vic. He becomes a daddy (twins!) in Opposing Forces and I'll admit I tortured him a bit. Couldn't help it.
