Get Lost in a Story and USA Today bestselling Katherine Garbera

Happy Valentines Day!  What could be more romantic than spending time with Katherine Garbera and
Bound by a Child!

Two polar opposites unite for the sake of a child…

Cocky businessman Allan McKinney has always gotten on Jessi Chandler's nerves—especially now that he's taking over her family's company. But when tragedy strikes, and they become coguardians of their best friends' child, Allan shows Jessi his sensitive side, going from unbearable to irresistible just like that.

For Allan, it's getting harder to keep his eye on the bottom line when his head is turned by Jessi. Now a storm is brewing that threatens to blow away their fragile bond. Will Allan and Jessi let their very personal merger slip through their fingers?
Please welcome, Katherine Garbera...

DONNELL:  Oh my goodness, you’re an award-winning author who’s written over 50 books in your career.  Don’t you ever get tired of slacking? ;)  Seriously, where do you find the energy, creativity, wherewithal to pursue such a longstanding career?

KATHERINE:  Thank you, Donnell.  I’m really am naturally lazy so I employ a lot of discipline to get my work done.  Plus my mom doesn’t stop from the moment she gets out of bed at 5:30 in the morning so if I don’t produce some pages every day I feel like I’m letting her down.  J

I have so many stories running around inside my head that I always have something new to write as soon as I finish up a book.

DONNELL:  I love reunion stories.  Obviously readers do to.  Why do you think readers find them so fascinating?

KATHERINE:  I like them too.  There is something about exploring the idea of ‘what might have been’ that is really appealing to me.

DONNELL:  Which character in Bound by a Baby do you identify with most?

KATHERINE:  I think I identify mostly with Jessi.  She’s created an image for herself on the outside as kind of a bad-girl rocker because it makes people treat her like she really is bad-ass even though inside she has lots of doubts about herself.  J

DONNELL:  WITH 50 books to your credit, do you ever have moments of self-doubt?

KATHERINE:  There are times when I think my story sounds like rubbish but most of the time I’m pretty sure that I’m meant to be a writer so sitting down to write is my happy-place.

DONNELL:  You have more than one publisher, correct?  That’s a juggling act in itself.  Have any hobbies?  What do you do for fun?

KATHERINE:  I do have more than one publisher.  I love the chance to write different kinds of stories.  I do have some hobbies walking in the countryside with my hubby.  We live in England so there are lots of historic places that we’ve never visited and we try to go there.  I also love doing art journaling, which is a lot of fun creatively because there is no pressure on me to create anything good or beautiful.  I just do it for myself.  Fellow writer Nancy Robards Thompson and I are giving a workshop this summer at RWA’s conference on art journals.

DONNELL:  You’ve obviously had to do a fair amount of research in your career.  What is the most interesting thing you’ve learned during your research that surprised you?

KATHERINE:  I wrote a book about the Somali pirates and that was by far one of the most interesting.  The entire society is formed around violence and taking what they want.  For my antagonist I really wanted to explore what it was like to grow up in the environment and then have someone “help” him by sending him to school in London.  It showed everything that he’d really never be able to have.

DONNELL:  What’s in your refrigerator right now?

KATHERINE.  The good stuff or the stuff that I’m supposed to say so I sound healthy?  J  Champagne—I’m always anticipating celebrating something.  Greek yogurt because it didn’t taste as yummy as I thought it would.

DONNELL:  Finish this sentence.  It’s the weekend.  I think I’ll . . .

KATHERINE: go to London with my hubby.  J

DONNELL:  If you could meet anyone, past or present, living or dead, who would it be, and why?

KATHERINE:  My maternal grandmother, I just miss her so much and there are so many things I want to talk to her about that have happened since she died.  I want to cook with her and laugh and talk.

Thanks, Katherine, now it’s your turn.  Time to ask the reader a question.  Here you may do a book giveaway (no obligation).  I will give-away three copies of Bound By A Child e-book version since its easier for me to send from the UK.

What’s your idea of the best Valentine’s Day gift?

  7. I'm not picky. Since my hubby never really remembers it's a special day (and he didn't today) I'd be happy with anything. LOL He did bring home pizza for dinner and probably will get some candy this weekend at 50% off. :D

  8. I love just spending alone time with my husband. He drives a truck so today is our Valentines Day, and he's taking me out to eat, just him and I. He did mange to sneak home the day before Valentines Day and drop me off a rose bush so we cam plant it in our yard! He said, "Now we can watch our love grow." Isn't that sweet?
