Fridays with the Crew -- Hello, Goodbye

Happy Friday, everyone!  The gang's all here to celebrate the start of September and the beginning of Fall.  Let's check in and see what everyone is up to!

Lara Lacombe

Fall is my favorite season of the year--living in Texas, I love the cooler weather and the changing leaves.  My daughter is still too young for school, so my schedule doesn't really change that much as we move into September. But this year, we have a new addition to look forward to--my son is due in mid-October!  I'm writing like mad to make progress on my deadlines before he arrives, because I know our world will change forever once he's here. :)

What are you most looking forward to this fall?

Don't miss my latest release, Her Lieutenant Protector--it's out in all formats now!

A mysterious outbreak propels a doctor and a wounded warrior into escalating danger
After a traumatic incident years before, Mallory Watkins, ship's doctor aboard the Abigail Adams, doesn't trust easily. On her latest cruise, she's wary of sexy security chief Everest LeBeau, but when passengers suddenly fall sick and a dead body is uncovered, Mallory must turn to the handsome veteran for help.
Wary of intimacy since suffering a life-changing injury, veteran Everest recognizes a kindred spirit in Mallory. His beautiful coworker stirs tender feelings in him he'd long forgotten. While Everest and Mallory close in on a lethal saboteur, trust is at a premium as their hearts—and their lives—are in peril.

With one grown son and living in San Diego, fall is pretty much a non-event until November when I get out my sweaters and think about Thanksgiving. Same for my writing schedule though I do lose time to write with the holidays.

The two things I'm looking forward to: In October, I hope to have a new puppy (I lost my Golden in July at 16 years and this time I am looking for a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon.) In early November, I will have out a new book, a holiday story, A Secret Scottish Christmas

Wirehaired Pointing Griffon pups

But this month, I have out a new boxed set for the award-winning Medieval Warriors series.  Find it here!

“This series captures the Medieval era perfectly, creating the true sensation of traveling back in time to experience epic, riveting love stories that ignite the imagination. Beautifully written, perfectly paced and action-packed with passionate love affairs... What more can you ask?”

Since the children have flown the coop, I don't have to hit all the the back to school stores. (I do miss picking up notebooks and fun paper supplies.) But fall means two things: 1) closing the cabin and 2) University of Minnesota Football. SKI-U-MAH!

It's always sad to close the cabin. The dock needs to be hauled in along with the jet ski and boat lifts. And of course, all the food needs to come out. But fall does mean we can head to University of Minnesota, my alma mater, football games. I love sitting in the stands on beautiful sunny autumn days. NOT so thrilled in November, when it gets terribly cold!

But this fall I will be buckling down to work on the revisions for Book 6 of the FITZGERALD HOUSE series -- TO CATCH A THIEF due Sept. 15th. And then I will submit POETIC JUSTICE due Sept. 30th.

Book 5 - UNDERCOVER WITH THE HEIRESS has been getting great reviews. I hope you've had a chance to check it out.  Buy links can be found HERE.

It's spring in Australia! A time of bright blue skies, warm weather (mind you, winter has been warm enough), kite flying and sculpture by sea, and wattle trees. It's a time when Sydney really gets out of the house and lives in cafes and parks and beaches...but not me, alas! I'll have my nose to the grindstone all spring and into early summer writing books 2 and 3 in my series for the brand new, super sexy Harlequin Dare line, which launches in January! Watch this space for news on those, and meanwhile, check out my latest romantic comedies...

You need to learn the rules, fast!
Sarah’s brother Adam has been educating her best friend Lane in the arts of the Kama Sutra for weeks, all in the pursuit of Lane’s real target, David Bennet. So when Sarah finds herself alone with David at an exhibition, weeping over her own terrible dating history, they strike up a conversation. A budding artist, he wants to paint her, so she agrees in return for a guarantee that he’ll find her a relationship that can last more than three weeks (her rather dismal personal best).

She reassures herself that she isn’t betraying Lane. After all, Sarah wants marriage and 2.4 kids, and David has made it more than clear he will never want that. Plus he’s going to sleep with Lane any day now. Isn’t he?

Although summer is by far and away my favorite season because I am a heat freak and LOVE being warm!, September (which is often the precursor to fall) still holds the potential for warm Indian summer days in Minnesota and the chance for last picnics and outdoor get-togethers. I'm looking forward to sitting on my deck with paper and pen and fleshing out some story ideas that came to me on my recent vacation to Scotland.

While that's happening, I'll also be working on three other super-fun projects. My fifth "Seven Brides for Seven Cowboys" book should come out by Christmas or New Year. In November I'll be releasing "Missing By a Heartbeat"--my debut book with a wonderful group of writers who've created the Chandler County series. Watch for more on that.

I'm also starting work on a short short story for a fantastic anthology benefiting The PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Rider Relief Fun. E.E. and I will have lots more info about that to come, too!

Right now, if you haven't read my current novel "Betting on Paradise" I'd love for you to discover book four in the Seven Brides series. Then, when you're ready for slightly quicker fare, I have a Kindle Worlds novella "Going Zero to Sixty"(part of Erin Nicholas's Sapphire Falls series) also out now. I think you'll love both these stories!
Check out these two fun stories here:

I wanted to say Hello (even though I'm not officially official yet) and how thrilled I am to be a brand new member of the GLIAS blog. The reason I'm not yet officially official brings me to the Goodbye part of this month's theme. My daughter just got married. I'm still knee-deep in post wedding craziness and getting her settled in another state...and finishing a book, but such is the life, right? Come September 6, I'll be blogging at full speed and I can't wait! Until then!

Living in the Midwest allows the opportunity for enjoying each of the four seasons, but by far, my favorite time of year is Fall. So many great memories are associate to adventures taken in the fall with friends and family. This year is no different! Aside from some fun writing projects coming up, I am also blessed with being able to spend my days with my new grandson. Of course the most handsome young man in all the world (@5 mo.) Another exciting adventure happening as I write is that after 30 years raising our kids in our small hometown, we are preparing for the "next chapter" of moving closer to our adult children (and yes, our grandson, who did I mention is adorable?)  It's quite exciting and daunting at the same time to sift through 30 years of life and come to the realization that through it all--how blessed we are. As I enjoy the coming season with ISU football, tailgating, Panera's Autumn Squash soup, candy corn, bonfires, the burnished leaves, the pumpkin patches, and our annual fall trip taken with friends--I wish special memories filled with blessings and gratitude to each of you!
On the writing front:  Released last week

Meantime, #kindnessmatters  Have a wonderful autumn!!

Fall? Around here that happens for one day sometime in November. Fall for me is more synonymous with vacation now.

Two years ago we took a trip to New England to catch all the fall colors. Awesome trip! I've shown you the pictures before. Here are a couple of my favorites.

Summer was extremely busy for me. A wedding, a family reunion, AlbuquerqueOrlandoGreen Bay and the total Eclipse. I'm busy catching up by finishing the second two books in the Texas Brothers of Company B series. The first two in the series are up for pre-order.

  1. I always love looking at the leaves changing as in Ca you really don';t have or see the seasons like you do out here in Iowa. I wish i had taught more in Ia then Ca as changing of the seasons would be a great subject for a couple of days and also art projects.

  2. Living in central AZ I always look forward to cooler weather. Of course, that also means the snow birds will be back as well. It's a situation that is always 50% good and 50% frustration.
