Get Lost with Author Barb Han

Get Lost in a Story Readers.  Today I’m pleased to introduce to you Author Barb Han.  Barb Han knows how to take hold of readers’ heart strings.  Think I’m exaggerating.  Take a look at the following blurb about GONE.

ABOUT GONE:

How far would you go to find a child that never existed?

Elizabeth Walker awakens in a mental institution, the aftermath of a nightmare in her veins. All she can think of is saving a little boy—her son. But the orderlies who rush in and jab her with needles assure her she has no son. So does her mother, who demands her doctors keep her calm and prevent her from these troubling delusions. But Elizabeth’s nightmares are so real, and her arms still feel the memory of holding her son. And her instincts tell her to trust no one. Her child is gone. Her memories are gone. Everything is just…gone.

Ex-military medic David Kerrigan will never stop blaming himself for the childhood tragedy that took his younger sister’s life. Working on assignment at the facility, he’s drawn to Elizabeth, and he’s not sure that everything about her case is on the up and up. David knows full well he can’t change the past, but what if he can save this one person? And maybe helping Elizabeth might just save them both…

Praise for GONE:
Intense, heart wrenching, romantic, and so very captivating.
5 Star Reader Review

The heroine's angst over a child everyone assures her doesn't exist is gut wrenching.
5 Star Reader Review

Fell in love with Elizabeth right away and found David's devotion to her to be mesmerizing.

As we get to know Barb, let me congratulate her on her recent sale to HARLEQUIN INTRIGUE!  WaY To Go, Barb!

DONNELL:  Welcome to Get Lost in a Story, Barb.  I'm reading Gone right now and the blurb only touches the surface about what Elizabeth Walker goes through.  So, fess up.  Are you this intense in real life?

BARB:  Thank you so much for hosting me today, Donnell! I love to laugh and my family tells me I’m funny. But don’t trust them…they might be crazy. In all seriousness, I do have an intense, thoughtful side. I try to keep it tucked away at parties.

DONNELL:  I think we have something in common.  Our boys played/play basketball.  Are there a bunch of sports’ nuts running around your house?

BARB:  No one’s training for the Olympics, but my husband played football in high school (he would want me to tell you he started both ways, lol) and volleyball in college. I was a gymnast when I was young and grew up playing all kinds of sports. I did a short stint as a soccer referee and covered the sports’ beat for my college newspaper. Our junior high son got us into basketball in a big way! We play all the time. I don’t even bother to put out breakable objects around my house because there’s likely to be a ball bouncing or sailing through the air at any given moment.

DONNELL:  Speaking of houses, what’s your favorite room in yours – and where do you slink off to when you want to be alone?

BARB:  I’d have to say my all-time favorite room is the kitchen. I love to cook! Alone? What’s that? I have young kids at home…there’s no alone.  J I grew up the youngest of three, so I’m used to chaos. I can tune out almost any noise. I escape in books and I can be pretty much anywhere.

DONNELL:  If you had to name your most important sense, what would it be?

BARB:  Sight. Observation is a powerful tool for a writer.

DONNELL:  What authors have influenced your writing?

BARB:  I learn something from every author I read. A few names that immediately come to mind are: Sandra Brown, Stephen J. Cannell, and Linda Castillo. Harlequin Intrigue has a stable of great writers I read and learn from every month. HelenKay Dimon, Paula Graves, Rebecca York just to name a few. And, of course, my fabulous CP, Jerrie Alexander, probably influences me the most.   INTERVIEWER'S NOTE & DONNELL'S BAD... Barb mentioned the intrepid Angi Morgan, and hanging head shamelessly here, Interviewer left her out.  My apologies to both Barb and Angi.  I remain both of your fan girls, however! ;)

DONNELL:  What’s the most unusual thing you have in your closet?

BARB:  My lawyer has advised me not to answer this question. Next? Just kidding, I have a long flowing sundress with bright orange flowers on it. Someone talked me into buying it. I promise.

DONNELL:  What is something you would love readers to know about you?

BARB:  That I love hearing from them. Getting an e-mail or Facebook post from a reader totally brightens my day.

DONNELL:  thanks for joining us.  Now it’s your turn.  Time to ask readers a question.

BARB HAN:  I would love to know if you like strong or sensitive heroes?

  1. Welcome to GLIAS, Barb and huge congrats on your recent sale! And on Gone...it looks fascinating! As for heroes, I like mine both. I've been accused of writing BAlphas (love the term!) Men who are very strong but have a sensitive side. Which they must, as I write strong heroines. My men have to be in touch enough with their sensitive side to keep be able to mesh well with my women.

    1. Sounds like you'll love Heather's BAlpha men!! Strong and sensitive is so tricky! You want them to be strong enough to handle anything that comes their way, bullets and bad guys, and yet not so strong he's out of touch with the heroine. Tricky indeed!

  6. I like strong men but they should also have a sensitive side, that would be perfect.
    The book sounds very intriguing.

  13. Hey, Barb. Congrats on how well GONE is doing. Such a great title. Great interview, Donnell. I gotta say as I read the names of authors who influeneced Barb, I thought huh? She didn't mention Angi. So I smiled as I read on. Yep, we all do it. We're juggling so much, hard not to slip up now and again. What a good save. Even better this way. Impressive to read all your titles, Barb. Continued success your way. Oh, I like more of a sensitive hero. Even when my heroes are detectives, they hide a soft spot. Intersting, think I'll make a quick list and see how all the guys fall out. Entertaining post, gals.
