Nothing Chilly about Winters!

I love it when one of my bestie friends come to the blog. Some of their answers surprise me. Danica doesn't know it, but one day I plan to visit her in Montana...and just move in. Okay, anyone who knows me that'll never happen because I'll never leave Texas. So we'll have a very cool visit.

ALWAYS A WANDERER
The Irish Traveller series book #2

Helena O’Driscoll and Graham Kelly’s first few months together haven’t been easy. Helena, missing the traditional Traveller lifestyle she gave up for Graham, can’t help but feel that their cultural differences have doomed their relationship. And with preparations for their brand-new hospital for Supernaturals filling their days, they feel out of sync, and maybe even out of love.

When a man from the local equestrian center is murdered, Helena begins having visions of the future darker and more dangerous than ever before. With a killer in their midst, everyone at Adare Manor is at risk, and Helena and Graham must work together to catch the culprit even as their relationship unravels. And when the murderer claims another victim, this one even closer to Helena’s heart, the question becomes not whether their love will survive, but whether they will.

THE Q&A
ANGI: How often to you get lost in a story?
DANICA:  Every day. When I’m not writing, I’m reading. I just finished up Margaret Atwood and am now onto a book by Janie Crouch. J

ANGI: Favorite date night…fancy or at home?
DANICA:  Oh, this depends on my mood, but since I work at home when it’s a date night I want to hit the town. I want a thick, juicy steak and a glass of red wine. Follow that up with a nice little stroll around downtown and I’m a happy camper.

ANGI: Would you put yourself in a Fairy Tale or Action Adventure?
DANICA:  Fairy tale. I have kids and therefore I live action adventure.

ANGI: Daffy Duck or Donald Duck?
DANICA:  Hmmm…. Daffy. He cracks me up!

ANGI: What’s your favorite thing about your book’s hero?
DANICA:  I love Graham Kelly. As I move further and further into this series, I find that he is progressively becoming this generations perfect man—he stands beside her and helps her when she needs it, but never stands in her way. He is so supportive and amazing, but at the same time he is alpha. When he wants something he takes it, and he knows how to love.

ANGI: What’s your favorite TV re-run (besides I LOVE LUCY) 😊?
DANICA:  How did you know I love I LOVE LUCY???  I love The Middle. Again, I think it hits a little close to home for me.

ANGI: Danica's favorite I LOVE LUCY episode has a lot to do with WALLPAPER while mine is Vitameatavegimin.

ANGI: Got a favorite song? What makes it special?
DANICA Oh, another good question. I am an eclectic listener and I love nearly all genres of music. When I’m writing I love Emile Pandolfi, but when I’m hanging out and cooking dinner I’m a Fitz and the Tantrums fan right now. However, later this year I’m going to see George Strait in concert. I’m totally geeking.

ANGI: What’s your perfect day?
DANICA Hanging out with my family and friends, having a barbeque, and then wrapping it all up with a glass of wine and a soak in the tub.

ANGI: Salad or soup?
DANICA Soup. There’s entirely too much lettuce in a salad.

ANGI: Champagne or Soda?
DANICA Champagne—with strawberries.

ANGI: Geek or Jock?
DANICA GEEKS!

ANGI: Favorite inspiration
DANICA Keep moving forward.

ANGI: The most daring thing you’ve ever done… Care to share?
DANICA Oh, I’ve always been ridiculously brave—sometimes to a fault. I would say following my dreams of becoming a writer was really daring. I had to make so many sacrifices and give up so much time with the people I love, but every sacrifice has been well worth it.

ANGI’s GOTTA ASK:  What’s your favorite pair of shoes & why?
DANICA’S GOTTA ANSWERLOL These are my favorites (at least in fancy shoes, otherwise it would be my cowboy boots)!  These Fendi’s are my splurge purchase (I still couponed), and are going to be making an appearance at the next big event.

DANICA WANTS TO KNOW:  WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT MONTANA?

4/27/2016

Meet Danica Winters

Your host, Angi Morgan
A huge welcome to Danica Winters, one of my newest Intrigue sisters. You're going to love these stories!

SMOKE & ASHES
Harlequin Intrigue

Montana's bravest…and hottest

With a mysterious arsonist on the loose in Missoula, fire inspector Kevin Jensen saves more than Heather Sampson's house. The sexy single father rescues her from an abusive marriage—and discovers his own past failures don't have to rule his life. Especially when sparks between him and Heather ignite irresistible desire.

But who's the arsonist? Why target Heather? What's his shocking motive? When Heather faces off with him in a brutal attack, she needs her "white knight" as much as he needs her. Both have looked into their souls and risked their broken hearts for each other. Now Kevin will have to risk his life and his heart.

ANGI: How often to you get lost in a story?
DANICA: Oh, daily… I love a good story. I’m notorious for asking strangers about their lives and often some of their stories are weaved into the backgrounds of my characters. It’s actually how I came up with Heather Sampson, the heroine of Smoke and Ashes.

ANGI: Hugh Jackman or Chris Pine?
DANICA: Hugh… All the way. Though I would share a glass of wine with either of them. ;)

ANGI: Can you tell us about a real-life hero you’ve met?
DANICA: For the release of this book I have been talking to my local YWCA. There is a wonderful woman, Patty Murphy, who has been working with the organization for 17 years. She has helped thousands of women find safety and lives built upon self-sufficiency. She is truly changing women’s lives.

ANGI: What's your most favorite thing to do in your state?
DANICA: Montana is a big state with even bigger mountains and skies. I love to be outside… hiking, biking, softball, basketball… I do it all (but none of it well).

ANGI: What’s your favorite meal?
DANICA: There is nothing better than a country-fried steak, mashed potatoes and corn. I’m easy to please.

ANGI: What do you like about the heroine of your book?
DANICA: I love that Heather is a woman who realizes she wants something different in her life and no longer wants to be a subjugated. While Kevin literally saves her, she has taken the steps required to end an unhealthy relationship and open her heart to new love.

ANGI: Sand or Snow?
DANICA: Hmmm…. Sand in January, snow in July… What can I say, I want it all!

ANGI: Would you rather be in a Fairy Tale or Action Adventure?
DANICA: Fairy tale. I’m terrified of heights, so I’m sure that my character would be forced to jump a cliff in order to complete their character arc… Nope. Not gonna happen.

ANGI: What’s your favorite rerun on television?
DANICA: My daughter and I have been deep in I Love Lucy episodes. We both love the wallpaper episode.

ANGI: What’s your favorite movie of all time?
DANICA: Hmmm… Bridget Jones’ Diary resonates with me. I am her, I swear. Put me in front of a microphone and I will say something ridiculous (not to mention the bits that are popular with grannies the world over). ;)

ANGI: What drinks or snacks are always on your desk when you’re writing?
DANICA: I love tea and coffee. I always have one or the other (and sometimes both) at my computer’s side.

ANGI: Who’s your favorite villain?
DANICA: I love Boyd Krauter from Justified. He is perfect.

ANGI: Hiking Boots or Dancing Heels?
DANICA: LOL Easy! Boots.

ANGI: Are you a Star Wars fan?
DANICA: I love the new film—especially Ray and Finn.

ANGI’S GOTTA ASK: What’s one thing from your bucket list?
DANICA’S GOTTA ANSWER:  I want to visit Ireland—especially Adare Manor. I was *this close* to going this year, but I have a bit of hectic schedule (note the kids reference earlier in the interview). My evenings right now are spent coaching softball and as a general shuttle service. J But I will see Ireland in the next few years, I may just have to take the mini-mes along with me.

DUST UP WITH THE DETECTIVE
Montana Heroes Series, Book 2
September 18, 2016

One bad decision can cost you your life…

When she was young, Blake West had been in a rush to escape a mining town in Montana where she’d been born and raised; instead, a single decision left her with a child and dreams that are now nothing more than a distant memory.
To support her daughter, Blake has taken a job as a Sherriff’s Deputy. Her days are filled with little more than automobile accidents and drunken brawls until the day Detective Jeremy Lawrence’s brother goes missing.

Together Blake and Detective Lawrence must uncover the clues about his brother’s possible demise, all while keeping a safe distance from the feelings that surface between them. As the mystery unfolds, only one thing becomes clear—not everything is as it seems and sometimes, even in rural Montana, the bad guy wins.
