Jacqui’s Friday Flowers in May

Last year I finally went for a walk at the right time to see the fantastic Iris patch in Victoria's Government House Gardens. I discovered one really has to time it right to get the best photos of these Irises -- and that time is May.

But I did find some lovely white Irises (see the last photo in the batch below) just a couple blocks from my home in April. So I will have to keep a lookout for Irises everywhere.

Jacqui’s Friday Flowers in April

There are many lovely parks where I live in Victoria, Canada. One of my favorites is Beacon Hill Park. In April, the Spanish Bluebells and Camas cover many parts of this park in blankets of purple, pink, and white.

These are some of the purple, white, and pink Spanish Bluebells that I've photographed in 2019 and 2020.

And here are some of my photos of the Camas, which according to online sources is "a genus of plants in the asparagus family native to western North America. Common names include camas, quamash, Indian hyacinth, camash, and wild hyacinth".

Jacqui’s Friday Flowers in March

March brings many Daffodils to the gardens and parks where I live in Victoria, Canada. I love the yellow, orange, and white contrast against the dark green. And it's a great workout crouching down to flower-level to get the best photos!

Here are some of my favorite Daffodil, Narcissus, or Jonquil photos from 2020 and one from 2019.

Jacqui’s Friday Flowers in February

February is the start of Cherry Blossom season in Victoria, Canada. I love catching them on a blue-sky day for extra contrast. There are certain streets where the blossoms always arrive first. It's nice that the trees have a routine. It allows me to make a plan for where I will walk each day to increase my chances of finding the best blossoms.

Here are some of the amazing Cherry Blossoms I photographed near my home from February to March in 2020.

Jacqui's Friday Flowers in January

There aren't many flowers in January -- not even where I live in mild weathered (almost all of the year) Victoria (on Vancouver Island in the extreme southwest corner of Canada). But some flowers do start popping up in early February. Two of these early risers are usually the Crocus and Snowdrop.

To get in the mood for the coming of spring, here are some of my Crocus and Snowdrop photos from 2019 and 2020.

Through My Lens at the Rose Garden

It's a weird time for everyone in our country. Life in our home has taken a dramatic turn, as I'm sure it has in nearly every home.

My husband has been traveling for 27 years. And now that he's not, the past six weeks are officially the longest we've been together during that time.

We've had to learn how to live together all over again. LOL

So we've been taking the time for a daily bike ride in this beautiful weather. We stopped by the rose garden which is about a mile from our house. My spirits soared at the beauty and I wanted to share it with you.

I hope you enjoy.
