“… beautifully layered with true historic figures and authentic history of Scotland woven into a creative and intriguing story. A spectacular, riveting adventure… 5 Stars!” – Tartan Book Reviews

                                                                    Scotland 1072

The Norman Conqueror robbed Steinar of Talisand of his noble father and his lands, forcing him to seek refuge in Scotland while still recovering from a devastating wound. At the royal court, Steinar becomes scribe to the unlettered King of Scots while secretly regaining his skill with a sword.

The first time Steinar glimpses the flame-haired maiden, Catrìona of the Vale of Leven, he is drawn to her spirited beauty. She does not fit among the ladies who have come to serve the devout queen. Not pious, not obedient and not given to stitchery, the firebrand flies a falcon!

Catrìona has come to Malcolm’s court wounded in spirit from the vicious attack on her home by Northmen who slayed her parents and her people. But that is not all she will suffer. The king has promised her to one of his favored warriors, but she has given her heart to a lowly scribe.

When all is lost, what hope is there for love? Can a broken heart be mended? Can a damaged soul be healed?

After suffering five years of abuse at the hands of her deceased husband, Tiffany Reynolds wants to reclaim the life she thought was gone forever. Every step forward becomes a stumble backward when danger threatens her life, and even God seems not to care.

Guilt-ridden, Luke Johnson, a private investigator, is driven to solve the murder of his sister. Following up on a lead, Luke crosses paths with Tiffany. His need for answers and retribution soon clash with his growing love for the fragile widow.

Joining forces is their only option if they hope to survive the minefield surrounding them. When Luke’s life is threatened, Tiffany makes a decision that could cost her everything.

Will Luke understand and forgive, or will he choose to walk out of her life?

SUZANNE PEARSON was born in the small village of Vanga on the Kwilu River in the country of Congo. After graduating from high school I came to the states and settled for a time in Eugene, OR. I have been blessed with a wide range of crazy jobs - legal secretary for a small Jewish law firm, admin secretary for the entertainment division of a bank in Beverly Hills where I met Cary Grant. Yikes! Never one to turn down a challenge, I started writing several years ago and ended up with the beginnings of a new career.

SOCIAL MEDIA:

THE Q&A
ANGI: How often to you get lost in a story?
SUZANNE: As often as possible and when on vacation I can read as much as one book a day.

ANGI: Favorite date night…fancy or at home?

SUZANNE:  My husband and I love going to the movies and usually have dinner out before. Nothing fancy though.

ANGI: Would you put yourself in a Fairy Tale or Action Adventure?
SUZANNE:  Action adventure always. I often carry a gun in my dreams and I am some sort of undercover agent.

ANGI: What’s your favorite thing about your book’s hero?
SUZANNE:  Luke’s innate kindness and honesty is what I love about him. Those two traits are what enabled him to get through Tiffany’s walls.

ANGI: What’s your favorite movie of all time?
SUZANNE:  Hard to say but I think Romancing the Stone holds up.

ANGI: What’s your perfect day?
SUZANNE:  Reading a book under a shady spot on any beach.

ANGI: Salad or soup?
SUZANNE:  Salad.

ANGI: Champagne or Soda?
SUZANNE:  Pepsi, and there is no crossing to the dark side that is Coke.

ANGI: Geek or Jock?
SUZANNE:  I love Big Bang Theory but I always wanted to marry a jock. Somehow I ended up with a Brainiac but it has worked for over 30 years.

ANGI: The most daring thing you’ve ever done… Care to share?
SUZANNE:  Went swimming in the Kwilu River which is in Congo. While swimming, we could see the hippos but couldn’t see the snakes or crocodiles.

ANGI’s GOTTA ASK:  What’s your favorite pair of shoes & why?
SUZANNE’S GOTTA ANSWER:   I’m a fairly practical person but every once in a while I find a pair of shoes that scream fun to me.

An Inspirational Spy Story

Meet one of my dearest friends, inspiring person and wonderful author - Leann Harris

Leann Harris always made up stories. When she saw a movie and didn’t like the ending, she wrote her own.  She’s the author of 16 published novels with 2 more coming out in the next few months.  She is a founder of both DARA and Ready Writers writing groups.  She is a teacher of the deaf, who taught math to high school deaf students and currently teaches writing at Collin College for their continuing education.

 The Book...

A Missing Family and a MI-6 Agent

When Catherine Lyons comes home from college she discovers her family has disappeared, vanished, leaving her alone. Fifteen years later when Catherine is on vacation in France, she sees her father getting on a bus, but he's had a stroke. When she tries to talk to him the nurse won't allow it. Cat shows up at the clinic the next day, but the people there claim to know nothing of the man. This time Cat isn't going to give up. She learns the name of the nurse she talked to and goes to her apartment and finds her dead.
Colin Montrose is with MI-6 and doesn't know who this woman is who has stumbled into his operation, but he wants to know. He follows Cat and asks if she murdered the woman. Before she can answer, they hear police sirens and flee. Together, Cat and Colin chase after Cat's father, trying to discover the truth behind her life and her parent's lives.
Leann will be giving away a copy of LAST LIE today to one lucky commenter.

Questions for Leann Harris

Kathleen’s GOTTA ASK: The LAST LIE is a captivating read, and I think it is my favorite of your books. It's great fun. I love how it twists and turns.
Where did you get this intriguing idea of a young woman coming home from college for Thanksgiving and finding her family has up and vanished?

Leann ANSWERS: I’ve always loved spy stories. John le Carre spy stories-Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Spy is a favorite. And I loved The Man from U.N.C.L.E., so I asked myself what would happen if you parents were moles for the Soviet Union? Today I read Brad Thor and Vince Flynn and their heroes.

Kathleen: How often do you get lost in a story?
Leann I’m always reading. That’s fun, reading before going to bed.

Kathleen: What’s the first book you remember reading?
Leann  The Box Car Children then later Nancy Drew Mysteries. And I was riveted by the biography of Helen Keller. I guess that’s why I taught deaf children and ended up writing about spies.

Kathleen: Can you tell us about a real-life hero you’ve met?

Leann Aside from my husband, when I first started writing suspense, there was an evidence detective with the big metro police department. Another writer and I went down to the evidence building and Detective Dave Davis allowed us to interview him. He tried hard to gross us out with crime scene pictures, but when he saw we were serious, he helped us. When I had a question and called him, if he had time, he’d tell me how he’d approach a situation.

Kathleen: What was the first story you remember writing?

Leann: My first book was about a deaf girl in Colorado 1886 and how she was treated back then. Treatment of deaf people wasn’t good, but I’ll step down from my soap box. That book never was published.

Kathleen: What’s your favorite movie of all time?

Leann: Wow, that’s hard.  I’m going way back, but I loved the movie “The Vikings” with Kirk Douglas and Tony Curtis.  I was more attracted to Kirk Douglas’ character, who was the anti-hero than Tony Curtis, the hero.

Kathleen: What’s the first thing you do when you finish writing a book?

Leann: I have lunch with friends, then go out shopping.

Kathleen: If you could interview one person (and it doesn’t have to be a writer) who would it be?

Leann - Winston Churchill. I’ve always been fascinated by him since I was a teenager.  And in the book, The Last Lie, Winston is in there.

Kathleen: What question are you never asked in interviews, but wish you were?

Leann: Why do you write? Because I have stories and people running around in my head and they want their stories told.

Kathleen: What drew you to write in the genre(s) you do?

Leann: When I started writing, I always had a dead body appear in my stories.  It used to bother me, but then I met other suspense writers and discovered I was normal. Writing inspirational romance is new and that is because of one hero, Zachary McClure. He appeared to me after I read an article about a soldier who lost his leg in the Iraq war and was taking equine therapy and thus Zach’s story was born.

That's fine with Billy Lee, because he's been in love with Trudy since before they started school. And just spending time with her is something he'd never ever allowed himself to dream about.

Renee Ryan talks about The Mistaken Bride

Hello Get Lost in a Story Readers.  Today’s our lucky day because my friend Renee Ryan has stopped by and it’s no mistake!  She’s here to promote her new release, THE MISTAKEN BRIDE.  Now Renee’s a personal friend of mine and so I’m really looking forward to our Fun Questions. But for now let’s read the Blurb and see what’s got people all excited.

The Wrong Bride...the Right Woman?

When William Black's mail-order bride fails to appear at the Boston docks, he's relieved when beautiful, vibrant Bridget Murphy steps in.  However, she has a surprise in store.  She will be a temporary nanny to his young twins...but she will not marry without love.

Faith Glen, Massachusetts, is worlds away from the poverty Bridget knew in Ireland.  And William Black couldn't be more different from her faithless ex-fiance.  Yet that integrity Bridget so admires binds William to a promise that could keep them apart forever.  In this new land of opportunity, does she dare to wish for a happy ending?

Let's meet Renee

DONNELL:  Renee, I generally ask people what their favorite room is in their house.  But in your case, I’m going to give you a harder one.  Where would you rather live, Nebraska or Georgia?

RENEE:  My answer might surprise you.  Nebraska all the way!!!  Don’t get me wrong.  Savannah is a great place to visit, lots to see, great food, but I don’t think it’s the best place to live, at least not for mne.  The weather isn’t as spectacular as people assume.  It’s humid, humid, and, oh, by the way, HUMID.  The summers are stifling on a good day (like walking through molasses) and the winters  can be bone-chilling cold.  Give me a dryer climate any day.  Plus, I love snow.  Love, love, love it!   Not a lot of snow in southern Georgia

DONNELL:   Coffee or tea?
RENEE:    Ice Tea, unsweet, fresh-brewed, with lemon.  I’m drinking some now!

DONNELL:  Who’s easier to raise, a boy or a girl?

RENEE:   A boy, hands down!  I don’t think boys even know what the word drama means.  Girls invented the word.  And doesn’t that say it all???

DONNELL:    What’s the last book you read that you thought about for days afterward?

RENEE:  Sophie Kinsella’s I’ve Got Your Number.  Laugh out loud funny.  I’ve never been a chic lit fan, but Sophie Kinsella is a cut above the rest.  I can’t recommend her books enough, especially this one.  What a refreshing break from the same-old, same-old.

DONNELL:   What do you want your readers to take away from your books?

RENEE:  I can answer that in one word: HOPE.  I want my readers to know that we humans can never out-sin God’s love and mercy.  There’s always a way out, always forgiveness available, no matter our mistakes.

DONNELL:    How many hats do you own?

RENEE:  RENEE: Get ready to gasp…30!  What can I say?  I’m a pony-tail and ball cap kind of girl.

DONNELL:   Tell us your writing schedule.

RENEE:   I write full-time, Monday through Friday.  That means I get up early, exercise first, then I write all morning, stop for lunch and watch either Castle or Bones or White Collar, then I’m back at it for a few hours in the afternoon.  I don’t write in the evenings or weekends.  That’s family time.  Overall, I’m a slow writer.  I need every bit of the day to get my pages finished.

DONNELL:    You are known for writing historicals, contemporaries and suspense.  If you had to choose which one would you settle on?

RENEE:   Well, if I lived in a perfect publishing world I’d say suspense.  (Did you notice my television viewing choices?)  My readers seem to like my historicals, though, so that’s where I will be focusing my energies the next couple of years.
DONNELL:   What comes next for Renee Ryan?

RENEE:  CHARITY HOUSE COURTSHIP, coming in August.  It’s the fifth book in the series, but the story actually comes first.  So I guess you could call it the prequel to my Charity House series or as I like to say: Where it all began.

DONNELL:   What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

 RENEE:   Finish manuscripts!!!

NOW IT’S RENEE'S TURN TO ASK READERS A QUESTION.  QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS WILL ENTER YOU IN A CHANCE TO WIN THE MISTAKEN BRIDE!

What’s your favorite type of books to read? Historicals, contemporaries, suspense, or _________?
