ANGI: Favorite thing about Anthony HarrisNICHOLE: I loved writing Anthony’s character. On the surface, he’s closed off, guarded, and violent, but when you crack that shell, you discover really, he’s just as terrified of losing the people in his life as the rest of us are. His complexity is probably my favorite thing about him.

ANGI: Favorite thing about Glennon Chase NICHOLE: What isn’t there to like about Glennon? She’s a single mom, determined to protect the most important person in her life: her son. Oh, and she can kick your ass while she’s at it, too.

ANGI: Favorite thing about RULES IN RESCUE
NICHOLE: I’ll be honest, this book was so hard to write! I stalled out probably five times before I could finish it, but I’d have to say my favorite thing about Rules in Rescue is that my mother-in-law called it “Hallmark with guns.”

ANGI: Can you tell us something you discovered while writing RULES IN RESCUE?
NICHOLE: I’ve never written kids in my books before Rules in Rescue. I was so intimidated and afraid putting a four-year-old in danger would turn readers off of the book, but over the course of writing the book, I found I was actually able to put more emotion and realism in the book because I was able to identify with the characters more. As a mom of a four-year-old (at the time), imagining how I would feel in that situation only made my writing better, I think.

ANGI: Favorite scene in RULES IN RESCUE

NICHOLE: Oh, that’s a hard one, but the first one that comes to mind is a scene where Anthony is meeting Glennon’s son for the first time. He immediately falls into a tickle fight between the love of his life and this little boy and he realizes he’s never been happier.
