Undeniable Fate by Mia London

“Lily.” His finger lifted her chin, his thumb brushed her lower lip. “I’m not lying. I mean every word. Your body is perfect.”

My story is about a project manager, Lily Bennett, who makes a business trip to Rome and meets Brandon Morgan along the way. There’s a bizarre twist of fate when the hotel double-booked the room and Brandon enters her room by mistake. In the four days
they have together, he slowly breaks down her insecurities and she dares to hope for more.

As CEO, Brandon is responsible for his company’s latest acquisition, one that will prove he can handle anything thrown his way. He just hadn’t planned on the encounter of a lifetime with Lily. But as a classic Type-A driver, a relationship is absolutely out of the question.
I enjoyed seeing how these characters transformed before me. And I knew my readers would fall in love with them. In fact, I was nearly 80% done when I realized the readers would want more of Lily and Brandon. So, this is in fact book 1 of a 2-book series. But don’t worry. There are no cliffhangers.

Temptations of Christmas Future by Lexi Post

She thought she could stop him. Save him.
He didn’t need saving. He needed—her.

Temptations of Christmas Future is the 3rd in the Christmas Carol Series, but definitely not the last. It’s the story of two Spirits of Christmas Future who are helping a young widow move on with her life. Usually, spirits aren’t paired, but this is a tough case. So tough that I’ll have to write the fourth book for next Christmas, but don’t worry, this IS NOT a cliff hanger.

Malcolm is from Scotland in the future and he has a very pessimistic attitude about, well, everything, including women, but he has good reasons. Joy is from present day America, the Southwest to be exact. She is the ultimate optimist despite being a hospice nurse while still among the living. Of course, opposites attract and she is so attracted to Malcolm that she even dreams about him, and who wouldn’t? The man is walking sensuality. I may have had a couple dreams about him myself. Just sayin.

Sadly, the pressure of this particular assignment will break them both down, which will have them turning to each other for comfort and some hot bedroom, and non-bedroom, experiences. Still, comfort is one thing and success another. Unfortunately, the two may not be compatible, in which case, someone will have to pay the price for failure. Who? I can’t say as that would spoil it, but I promise there will be a happily ever after.

Highland Oath by C.A. Szarek

He’d never had a lover like his little healer. She was so free, so receptive and reactive to his touch, his kiss. Would that she felt the same way about his heart.

Highland Oath is Angus' story, for those of you are familiar with my Highlanders. If you're not, that's okay! His book is the first of a "spin-off" series and it was a long time in coming. It's special to me because Angus is 9 years old in the first book of my first trilogy (Highland Secrets), and then he's a 92 year old grandfather in Highlander's Portrait. I revisited him with his parents' story in The Princess and The Laird, (series prequel) so he's been with me for a long time. His story was AWESOME to write, so it was great to see him meet his very own HEA, Lila.

Claiming Emerson by Heather Miles

“By day, I charmed wealthy benefactors into gifting the art world with their money and time. By night, I was the gift and my time didn’t come cheap.”

Claiming Emerson is book one in a new series by Heather Miles. It’s the beginning of Emerson Anee’s story. How she became the youngest curator to ever grace the floors of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, at the same time as being one of the most exclusive escorts in New York City. By day, she charms wealthy benefactors into gifting the art world with their money and time, but by night, she was the gift and her time didn’t come cheap. She lived a double life, conservative in one world, daring and risky in the other. It was a shell game. The art of illusion wasn’t just something she’d become proficient at, she lived it.  This is the story of what molded her into the woman she became and the men who tried to claim her as theirs.

A Twist on Fate by Jillian Stone

They say that you don’t meet people by accident, that you cross paths with strangers for a reason. But then memes about fate are for morons, right? Thing is—after what just happened—I’m not so sure anymore…

Jenn Fenstermaker should be grateful––no––thrilled to be an assistant producer for Storyville Pictures. But the script is in rewrite, and the last thing her flagging film industry career needs is another box office mega bomb. Chronically late to work, she cuts off a BMW on the freeway.

Gabriel Tobias Grant feels terrible about the damage to Jenn’s car. He’s also attracted to the bold, beautiful young woman. Gabe is a San Francisco chef/entrepreneur and as a way of making amends, he offers to cook dinner. Both Jenn and Gabe are in for an amazing night of orgasmic appetizers, à la his sensuous grilled scallops, but neither one is prepared to deal with what happens next—an unwelcome intrusion by a stranger.

On A Whim by J.M. Walker

“You, my sweet girl, are a brat and I’m going
to have fun showing you exactly what I do to them.”

On A Whim is about Kiki Smith and Bo Layden. Both of them work in the book world. Kiki’s a graphic designer and falls into her work after getting stood up at the altar. Bo on the other hand, gets screwed out of thousands of dollars by people he thought he could trust and is on a hunt for a new designer. When he contacts Kiki under his author name, B. Vesper, she doesn’t realize that they are actually the same guy. Cue dramatic music. This story was fun because Kiki was something fresh and Bo was my typical dark Alpha male…with a J.M. Walker twist.

I'm so excited to be a part of the BLAME IT ON FATE anthology and to share each of the author's brief comments about their stories with our readers—on release day!

This box set is all about the role fate often plays in the lives of lovers. Think about it: Chance meetings…handsome strangers…secret lives…exotic travel…holiday spirits…heroes in kilts…this anthology has got it all. Many of these stories are full length novels so be prepared for hours of reading pleasure.

Commenters: Fate plays a role in almost every romance—what's your favorite chance encounter? Perhaps you have a real life romantic run-in you'd like to share. (Oh yes, please—they're my favorites!) Post your comments below for a chance to win an ebook copy of the BLAME IT ON FATE anthology. Good luck romance readers!  xo—Jillian Stone

Can a monster find love?

HEART OF FRANKENSTEIN

Can a monster find love?

In 1718, he was abandoned then betrayed, spurring his relentless desire for revenge against his creator, Victor Frankenstein. It is now the 21st Century, and despite his fervent wish for death, he still exists, tortured by his crimes, searching only for peace.

Angela Ellis would have frozen to death in the harsh Alaskan wilderness if not for the man who found her on an icy ledge. He calls her Angel, but has no name himself. He is kind, caring, handsome, and scarred both outside and inside. The more she learns about him, the more she wants to know…and the more she falls in love.

He is unworthy of love unless he can confess, but his secrets are buried deep and to reveal them would be to rip out his soul and lose his Angel. Unfortunately, he is given no say in the matter. Nature has a way of revealing all.

A SPECIAL INTERVIEW with LEXI POST's HERO
ANGI: Do you read a lot in the Alaskan Wilderness?
Frankenstein’s Creation: I do. Mostly classics, though some are “how to” books. I have two built in bookcases in my cabin. In the winter, there is not much to be done, so reading is my pastime. Books have always been a prized possession to me. They have helped me understand mankind and morality.

ANGI: What have you loved most since 1718?
Frankenstein’s Creation: Isolation. Being around men is rarely a good experience, though I did befriend an Inuit wise man in the 1770s. He taught me more than even my precious books. But being away from mankind is best for me. I don’t have to hide what I am, an abomination. I don’t have to hide my scars, my strength, or the fact the cold doesn’t bother me or that I don’t bleed.

ANGI: What did you find most curious about Angel?
Frankenstein’s Creation: That she is delicate physically, but strong mentally. She also likes to talk…a lot. Her mind is quick and she has the capacity to look beyond appearances. She has spent her life travelling the world, learning about other cultures and viewing great wonders. She loves to learn, even from me. I have to admit, I don’t always understand her thought process, but she tells me I’m not supposed to, so I’m content.

ANGI: Why Alaska?
Frankenstein’s Creation: When Dr. Victor Frankenstein died, he was on a ship in the Arctic Circle. I had led him there because it was easier to move about without encountering men. I had planned to burn myself to death after he passed, but I discovered I couldn’t die, so I stayed in the Arctic Circle. I spent three hundred years traveling and living in various places from Greenland to the North Pole to Canada. It was only a matter of time before I landed in northern Alaska.

ANGI: What has kept you going through the centuries?
Frankenstein’s Creation: My search for peace. I thought if I spent my life saving people, helping them, it would wash away the stain of my former deeds. When I first found Angel, I thought she could be my redemption, but I was wrong on all accounts. I needed to love to truly find peace, but since I’d never been loved, I didn’t know how powerful it could be.

ANGI: The most daring thing you’ve ever done… Care to share?

Frankenstein’s Creation: I have always been something other than human, so daring as in physical feats for the average man is not so daring for me. Swimming under the ice for days, being buried in an avalanche, wrestling with a polar bear are not “daring” for me. I think the most daring thing I’ve ever done, which I think would be the same for mankind, is to fall in love. That was by far the most painful yet joyous thing I’ve ever done.

A QUESTION FOR LEXI: What makes these boots your favorite?
LEXI:  LOL Because they have the most colors and bling of all the boots I own :-) Besides they're great for line dancing

Now he was sure something other than his own dismissal was riding on this assignment. A twinge of guilt niggled at Malcolm’s psyche, but he pushed it away. Joy was an accomplished spirit guide. The antithesis of him, but still very successful. Not only would they do what needed to be done, but he would show her reality, proving to her that her way of looking at life and death was too idealistic.
She was too happy and too confident in that happiness. She needed to be taught that her way of guiding the living would only leave them unprepared for what lay ahead. The future was not puppies and marshmallows.
Cameron leaned back in his chair and looked over at him. “How do you know Joy? I didn’t think you spent your free time in the same places she does?”
He shook his head. “I don’t. But having been here longer than you, I run into other guides whether I want to or not. I also know of her success rate with the living, and if as you say, this is my last chance to prove I should keep my job, I want the best.”
His boss nodded. “She is the best, but her methods are far different from yours. Then again, maybe you’ll learn something that will help you.”

Or maybe she’d learn from him.

“Braeden? You need to step aside for me to leave.”
“And what if I don’t want you to leave?”
Her breath caught in her throat as tingling sped from her head to her toes. She swallowed hard. “What do you mean?” She turned away to give herself a moment without looking at his handsome visage. “Did I forget something?”

The floor creaked behind her and she stepped forward to inspect the water pitcher. If he touched her again, she’d be lost.

The voice of the shrink he secretly went to hammered against his brain. He had only a week before he returned to regular duty. No one knew how much he dreaded that. How was he supposed to continue as a rescue swimmer when he’d woken in the hospital with a sudden fear of heights?

“Can’t you do something to increase the odds in her favor?” She was a vet after all. “Like drugs or something?”
Jenna frowned at him but turned her attention back to Macy when the horse whined. She spoke quietly. “Do me a favor and stay out of the way.”

Logan ground his teeth to hold in his response. For the mare’s sake, he’d step back, but after this, the woman would be getting an earful of opinion from him whether she wanted it or not.

High pitched whining followed by someone running down the hall upstairs made it clear her apartment building was on fire. The three-story building was at least a hundred years old, one of the reasons she moved into it, but it would go up like a tinder box.

Stay calm. Nothing ever came of panicking. It’s no different than the time you were on that cliff with the baby deer.

She turned on her lamp before running through her bedroom. As she rounded the corner into her tiny vestibule, she hit her bare thigh on the small table against the wall. Stupid thing. Rubbing her leg, she finally reached her apartment door. She unlocked both locks and pulled it open.

Smoke billowed in, smothering all her senses before she slammed the door shut, coughing as the foreign matter filled her lungs. Not good.

Quickly, she ran into the kitchen, grabbed the hand towel and soaked it with water. She brought it to her face and hurried back to her door.

Here goes nothing.

As she opened the door, smoke streamed in and she dropped into a crouch. Stay low. Remember the barn fire in Maryland. Smoke rises. After the initial billow, she found she could stand without too much smoke. Looking up, she froze.

Hell. I’m in hell. Black smoke covered the hallway ceiling, billowing like an upside down wave, slowly lowering. Yellow flickers lit it sporadically like heat lightning in the clouds on a summer evening.

PASSION OF SLEEPY HOLLOW

Kat closed the door to her room and leaned against it. Her heart raced so fast it could beat a squirrel up a tree. Licking her lips, she closed her eyes. Braeden’s kiss brought back all those wonderful feelings she used to have with Brom. The ones where her toes curled inside her buckle shoes and her body quivered.

She crossed her arms over her stomach. She hadn’t had those with anyone else since. Not even slightly. What was she going to do? She’d been desperate to get away, and now he would be staying the night. She opened her eyes. Staying in her room. Oh Lord.
Moving to her chest at the end of the bed, she pulled out a pillow and threw it on the floor. She’d already changed the sheets because he was supposed to leave. It had been so hard not to bury her face in his unique scent. It reminded her of the forest after a rainstorm, musky, comforting, making her want to snuggle in for a winter hibernation.
Ugh, what was she thinking? He was Stephen’s brother, a Newtimer, and he would leave tomorrow.

Oh no. The village would be long gone by then. What would happen to Braeden then? She glanced toward the door, listening to the floorboards creak under his weight. Quickly, she pulled her quilt from the chest and grabbed the pillow.

Too late.

The door opened and he ducked inside, obliterating the opening from her sight. He stood stock-still, studying her once again. The lantern light softened his features, proving how different he really appeared from Brom.

Straightening her shoulders, she stepped toward him. “Your room is all set. I’ll just make my bed in the parlor.”

He didn’t move, and she couldn’t go through the door unless he did.

She turned to review the bed. “I assure you these are clean sheets.”

The door closed.

She spun and the quilt knocked the pitcher off the table onto the floor with a crash. “Oh no.” She knelt, suddenly wanting to cry, though the pitcher wasn’t anything special. In fact, it had a crack along the handle and was bound to break soon anyway.

“Come. It’s okay.” Braeden’s hands on her arms helped her to stand and sent fire through her already taut nerves.

Gently, he enveloped her in his arms. Her heart slowed as a feeling of rightness settled through her. With her face against his chest, she could hear his strong heartbeat.

“Kat.” The soft-spoken word came from deep within him and she met his gaze. “Don’t be mad at me.”

The loneliness she glimpsed in his eyes undid her. Before she could think about what she did, she hooked her hand around his neck and pulled him forward for a kiss.

WHY DO WE LOVE COWBOYS?

ANGI MORGAN
In honor of National Day of the Cowboy I thought it would be fun to see why romance authors love cowboys. How about you? How would you answer the poll?

WHY DO YOU LOVE COWBOYS?

  • their honorable character
  • their boots
  • their riding abilities
  • their work-ethic
  • the way they fit their jeans

I think the Cowboy Code by Gene Autry pretty much sums up why we love our cowboys!
"Seriously? I have to choose an answer? You have made this poll waaaaay tooooo tough :)

Because I'm forced to pick, I'll say #1.  Probably because I'm at the time in my live where a person's character matters more than anything else." ~Cathy McDavid
