THE DETECTIVE
Harlequin Intrigue
Read a Little, Buy the Book
Injured homicide detective Brodey Hayward needs a distraction, and he finds it as a consultant on a cold case murder. When Brodey’s investigation delays plans to remodel the former crime scene, he uncovers another kind of distraction: spirited Lexi Vanderbilt. Despite her distrust of men, Brodey charms the alluring interior designer into helping him examine the case facts.

Working closely with the ultrasexy detective helps Lexi lower her guard, igniting a passion that even Chicago’s winter can’t cool. As they close in on the killer, Lexi becomes his new target. To save her, Brodey must either betray her trust—or risk losing Lexi forever.

USA TODAY Best Selling Author
ADRIENNE GIORDANO
writes romantic suspense and mystery.  She is a Jersey girl at heart, but now lives in the Midwest with her workaholic husband, sports obsessed son and Buddy the Wheaten Terrorist (Terrier). She is a co-founder of Romance University blog and Lady Jane's Salon-Naperville, a reading series dedicated to romantic fiction.

THE Q&A
ANGI: What do you like best about the hero of THE DETECTIVE?
ADRIENNE: I love how protective he is of his loved ones. I come from a family of over-protective alpha males so it was fun giving Brodey a lot of the tendencies the men in my family have. Brodey tends to drive people a little crazy, but he does it out of a place of love so his peeps tend to forgive him. :)

ANGI: What do you like best about the heroine of THE DETECTIVE?
ADRIENNE: Lexi is independent and doesn’t rely on anyone but herself to make her way in the world. I knew from the get-go I wanted the heroine in this book to be fiercely independent. It made for great conflict with Brodey’s protective nature.

ANGI: Would you rather be in a Fairy Tale or Action Adventure?
ADRIENNE: Action adventure. Life is full of uncertainties and I think we learn from conflict. It may be rough going through it, but I know with every difficult situation I’ve faced, I’ve come out of it stronger. Still, a fairy tale is nice every now and again!

ANGI: Beaches or Ski Resorts?
ADRIENNE: Beaches! I grew up on the Jersey Shore and spent my summers on the beach. There’s something about the ocean that settles me. I think when I’m near the ocean I think of family and love and that never gets old. :)

ANGI: What’s your favorite snack food?
ADRIENNE: Well, if we’re talking sweets, it’s dark chocolate or cupcakes. If we’re talking healthy it’s berries. I have a wicked sweet tooth and need a little nibble of something sweet every day.

ANGI: Hiking Boots or Dancing Heels?
ADRIENNE: Dancing heels! No doubt. Although, I do have a pair of hiking shoes I bought for a trip to my pal Kelsey Browning’s mountain cabin. I haven’t worn them since though!

ANGI: What’s your favorite rerun on television?
ADRIENNE: Not long ago I stumbled across a marathon of The Carol Burnett Show and I had a ball watching them. It’s just classic and hilarious comedy.

ANGI: What's your most favorite thing to do when traveling?
ADRIENNE: Eat! I love to sample the local fare when I travel. I’m not terribly adventurous when it comes to trying new foods, but when I travel I like to try different things.

ANGI: What is your biggest vice?
ADRIENNE: Chocolate. I like a good mojito at times also.

ANGI’S GOTTA ASK: What is your best wish come true?

ADRIENNE’s GOTTA ANSWER:   My best wish come true would be a cure for cancer. I’ve lost three of the most important people in my live to this awful disease and I’m hoping one day we can wipe it out. On a lighter note, hitting the lottery would be nice too! Then I’d travel for an entire year.

USA Today bestselling author ADRIENNE GIORDANO writes romantic
suspense and mystery.

TODAY we have a special interview with Zac Hennings. Zac Hennings is bulldog Assistant State’s Attorney in Chicago. He likes to win his cases, but his bigger passion is heading into court and going to war.

ANGI: Welcome Zac. Instead of talking about the case and getting the same old answer of "no comment," I hope we can get to know your personality a little. So…
What’s the first book you remember reading?
ZAC:  A book about Babe Ruth. I’m a baseball fan and when I was a kid I’d read any baseball book I could get my hands on.

ANGI: What’s your favorite “love” word?
ZAC:  (Grinning.) Uh, I’m not sure it’s appropriate right now.

ANGI: What's your favorite song? Is there a YouTube video?
ZAC:  The Rising. Bruce Springsteen.

ANGI: What sound or noise do you love?
ZAC: I live in Chicago, but my folks have a lake house in Wisconsin. I like to sit on their patio and listen to the water lapping against the beach. That sound reminds me to slow down and enjoy quiet time away from the city.

ANGI: Fairy Tale or Action Adventure?
ZAC:  Really? Action and adventure. No doubt.

ANGI: What’s your favorite cartoon character?
ZAC:  Would you call me a pig if I said Wonder Woman? Hey, I’m a guy. Adrienne is yelling at me so I’ll be serious. I’m going with Underdog because people underestimate him. I don’t like to be underestimated, and I’m not afraid to take on my enemies. And win.

ANGI: Who’s your favorite villain?
ZAC:  I’m a prosecutor. I don’t like villains.

ANGI: What is your biggest vice?
ZAC:  If we’re talking food, it’s Smarties. I buy those in bulk. If we’re talking women, it would most definitely be Emma Sinclair. The second she walked into my office I knew I was in trouble. She’s smart and dedicated and if I ever get into trouble, she’d be my first call. She’s fearless. If she loves you, she fights for you. No matter what.

ANGI’S GOTTA ASK: And a question for the author of THE PROSECUTOR…
Welcome back, Adrienne. Where in the world do you get your ideas for all these hot guys? Do you go somewhere on-line for information? Can I visit too?
ADRIENNE's GOTTA ANSWER:  Don’t I wish! If there was a place on-line, I’d hang out there all day. J Having a newspaper background, I like to read the newspaper and sometimes it’ll spark an idea. My idea for The Prosecutor came to me after reading an article about a wrongly incarcerated man whose family had steadfastly believed in his innocence. He’d been in prison for years and I wondered how hard it must have been for his family to fight for him all that time. While brainstorming with one of my critique partners, we hit on what would happen if the prisoner had a sister and the prosecutor was in love with her.

Meet Gabe Townsend

THE CHASE
Justifiable Cause Series, Novella #1
ASIN: B00B2CECJK

Hard-driving attorney Jo Pomeroy is as determined as she is sexy—in other words, a major pain in NYPD Sergeant Gabe Townsend’s butt. Working together on a high-profile task force charged with busting sales of counterfeit goods has been rocky from the start. And Jo’s penchant for trouble is as difficult to ignore as her spectacular legs.

The world of knock-offs isn’t as frivolous as it appears. The purses are fake, but the danger is all too real—and Jo seems hell-bent on putting herself in the middle of it. Her investigations have uncovered valuable leads for Gabe’s team, but they’ve also drawn the wrong kind of attention.

Now, she’s on the radar of a mysterious smuggler not afraid to use violence to evade the law. At the risk of their lives—and their hearts—Gabe and Jo must find him before he finds them.

TURNING THE INTERROGATION TOWARD GABE TOWNSEND
the hero from the Justifiable Cause Series

ANGI: How often to you get lost in a story?
GABE: Gabe Townsend here. Thanks for having me, Angi. Being an NYPD Sergeant assigned to ESU—more commonly known as S.W.A.T.—I get lost in a story every day. Multiple times.

ANGI: What’s your favorite “love” word?
GABE: I have three. Jo. Pomeroy’s. Legs. The woman has amazing legs. I dream about those legs. Except when I see them dangling from a fourth floor window she’s trying to climb out of. Then I get pissy.

ANGI: Can you tell us about a real-life hero you’ve met?
GABE: There’s a lot of nonsense in my job, but the other day I saw a businessman give a homeless guy his coat. That’s the stuff that sticks with me. I hang on to that and it keeps me sane.
ANGI: That is one of my favorite answers, Gabe. Thanks for sharing that!

ANGI: What’s your favorite fairy tale?
GABE: Anything featuring Jo’s legs.

ANGI: What’s your favorite cartoon character?
GABE: Popeye. No idea why. Plus, I hate spinach.

ANGI: What do you like about the hero of your book?
GABE: I’ll talk about Jo. There’s a lot to like about her. Besides her legs. Kidding! She’s a lawyer and she’s brilliant and mouthy and that gets me fired up. The thing I most admire is she’s fearless. This makes me nuts too though. I’m conflicted! Isn’t that a big deal with you novelists? That I’m conflicted? Anyway, Jo constantly (sometimes at the risk of her own safety) throws herself into the fray. Doing what I do for a living, I get it. There’s a rush that comes with the action. Still, I’d like her not to do it, which I usually suggest and she usually ignores, but we’re of the same mind when it comes to adrenalin. We’re junkies.
ANGI: What sound or noise do you love?
GABE:  The sounds of the city. Car horns, sirens, trucks, feet on pavement. If I go somewhere quiet, it makes me twitchy.
ANGI: Fairy Tale or Action Adventure?
GABE: Please. Action Adventure. I work in New York City. All I have to do is step outside and I’m in the action.

ANGI: What’s your favorite movie of all time?
GABE:  There’s a bunch, but a few stand out. Bull Durham is a great guy movie. Baseball, women, a guy wearing lingerie when he pitches, it’s all good. The Last of the Mohicans is another one of my favorites.

ANGI: Who’s your favorite villain?
GABE:  I’m a cop. My favorite villain is the one I just took down.

ANGI: What is your biggest vice?
GABE: Jo Pomeroy’s legs.

ANGI: Is there a “Blooper” in your story (it may have been changed before printing)?
GABE: My attempt at telling Jo what to do was a monster blooper. Eee-doggies, that was painful. She straightened my a—butt—out. Can’t say it’ll stop me next time. I worry about her and that won’t change. She’ll have to live with it. And, I guess, I’ll get used to the verbal beatings.

ANGI: How is it working with hot guys and sexy women all day?
GABE: I’ll pass on the hot guys, but being around sexy women never gets old. Jo doesn’t call me Mr. August for nothing. Just saying, ladies.

ANGI’S GOTTA ASK: Tell us what's coming up in your new JUSTIFIABLE CAUSE series.
ADRIENNE'S GOTTA ANSWER:  That Gabe, he’s so naughty. J In the next story, Evasion, Jo and Gabe continue their hunt for a counterfeit goods smuggler. The next story will take them out of New York City though and Gabe’s not very happy about that.  They’ll still have plenty of fun though.
