interested in one woman, the one he foolishly left behind in New Orleans, a
week before their wedding, some years ago.
- Cole, the ambitious second son of an
earl, runs ships that carry the lumber and other goods. He's focused on his
business and he's filthy rich.
- Joshua builds things and wants to build
more. He's only interested in soiled doves, and no commitment.
- Garrett is the salt of the earth, the
hardest-working foreman they have ever known. He wants a bride, but doesn't
know how he can even afford one.
As One Last Chance (Last Chance Brides #1)
opens, no one is more surprised than Logan when he comes face to face with
Charlotte, the woman he jilted years before. He's shocked, shocked
that she has answered the advertisement. And she's devastated to come face to
face with the man who wrecked her life, and especially under these embarrassing
circumstances.
Charlotte wants to escape the aftermath of the
war-ravaged South and insists that she wants to find herself a husband in the
Washington Territory. She's certain she doesn't want to marry Logan because,
after all, he left her to survive the war on her own!
Logan has a long voyage
in which to try to convince Charlotte he's not the same guy who broke her
heart. Of course, some of the other women are interested in Logan, too.
It's going to be a bumpy ride around the Horn!

DONNELL: Get Lost in
a Story readers I am thrilled to present to you today the talented and
prolific, award winning Emma Connor.
Emma, obviously the Brides of Last Chance is Historical. Would I be safe in assuming historical is your favorite genre? Have you written other genres, and what authors have influenced you?
Emma, obviously the Brides of Last Chance is Historical. Would I be safe in assuming historical is your favorite genre? Have you written other genres, and what authors have influenced you?
EMMA: I love historicals! They are by far my favorite genre.
I’ve written a fantasy and a few paranormals as well though. My favorite
authors are Laura Kinsale, Elizabeth Hoyt, Meredith Duran, and Joanna Bourne.
DONNELL: There is
such a romantic appeal about being a mail order bride. I think the idea is truly romanticized. Talk
about why you love this series and what you want readers to take away from it.
EMMA: I found it a challenge to find unique conflicts for
these four sets of people who are thrown together, expected to create a
marriage with a stranger. I believe that any two people can make a relationship
work if they try hard enough, and that’s what I want readers to take away from
this series.
DONNELL: You have
some hunky characters listed above. Do
you have a favorite? Is there one that
had to grow on you?
EMMA: I’m finding
Cole’s story the hardest to write, probably because he’s a little uptight. LOL
But Vivian is doing her best to loosen him up! Garrett’s story is the one I’m
most looking forward to writing. He’s a bit tortured, and that’s my favorite
kind of hero.
DONNELL: What kind of
a woman back in these days went in search of a husband she didn’t know?
EMMA: I love the idea of women who had the courage to put
everything on the line and change their life. In this series, my heroines are
all facing reconstruction in the South, after having faced years of war and
hardship, and they are eager for a fresh start. It was a very risky move, and
they very well could have ended up with men they didn’t care for, but they all
get lucky!
DONNELL: Let’s bring
you into current day. What’s your
favorite room in your house?
EMMA: Well, I recently moved and I’m living in an apartment,
looking for a house to buy, so currently, the answer is none of them. I am
looking forward to finding the right house and having an office again. I have a
wonderful wall hanging my son bought me that says, “Dream Until Your Dreams
Come True”. I can’t wait to have space to hang it above my desk again.
DONNELL: The most
unusual thing you have in your closet?
EMMA: I actually have a purple and white feather boa. Don’t
know where I’d ever wear it, but I love it anyway!
DONNELL: And now I’ll
put Emma truly on the spot. You’re in a
time machine. Do you become a mail order
bride, or go someplace else – past or future?
EMMA: As much as I love historicals, I don’t think I’d
really like to live one. I like the Internet and hot showers too much! I am
very happy in the present.
