Meet Tara Randel

HIS HONOR,
HER FAMILY
She could be The One

If he’ll let her in.

The rustic mountain town of Golden, Georgia, is the ideal place for crime scene investigator Deke Matthews to heal after a tragedy left him questioning everything. But there’s another reason he’s here, and moonlighting as an adventure guide provides the perfect cover. It doesn’t include falling for his boss. Attorney Grace Harper is back in Golden only long enough to save her family business. Just when Deke has found the woman to share his life with...

THE Q&A
ANGI: How often to you get lost in a story?
TARA: Every day! I’ve been an avid reader for as long as I can remember. Some of my favorite childhood memories are visits to the library. I loved to come home and spread out a blanket in the backyard on a warm summer’s day and proceed to read all afternoon. If only we could do this as often as we wanted now that we are adults! The love of a good story stayed with me and I always have my nose in a book.

ANGI: What’s your favorite thing about your book’s hero?
TARA: Deke Matthews views life very seriously. He’s what I’d call a deep thinker, which is exactly the type of hero the heroine, Grace, needs in her life. Grace also helps him lighten up some, which is a great balance. Because he isn’t the type of guy to shy away from the hard questions, I felt like I stretched as a writer while working on this book.

ANGI: What’s your favorite movie of all time?
TARA: While You Were Sleeping. Love, love, love that movie!

ANGI: What’s your perfect day?
TARA: Spending time with my husband or daughter. My husband and I own a business together, so we got out to lunch often. It’s nice to get away from the demands of life and chat about nothing and everything.  My daughter and I have passes to the Disney World theme parks, so we drive to Orlando about once a month. It’s something we share together and the perk is that I get time with my daughter all to myself.

ANGI: Salad or soup?
TARA: Soup in the winter, salad all year round. I love combing different ingredients in new recipes. Depending on produce available at different times of the year, I do a lot of experimenting. I love vegetable/bean soup. Or salad with just about anything added to lettuce.

ANGI: Would you put yourself in a Fairy Tale or Action Adventure?
TARA: Probably a fairy tale. Thinking back to the stories I read while growing up, I enjoyed these stories because there is always so much going on in the books; adventure, romance, action, they have everything. I still read fairy tales, or clever variations of timeless tales, that captured my attention as a kid.

ANGI: Favorite TV rerun you watch every time you channel surf?
TARA: Law & Order or Modern Family. I know, a weird combination. I love police procedurals but sometime they can get heavy and I need a good laugh. The writers of Modern Family are smart and funny.

ANGI: Geek or Jock?
TARA: Jock. My husband is very athletic so I guess I have a type.

ANGI’s GOTTA ASK:  Where is your favorite writing place & why?

TARA’S GOTTA ANSWER:  My office. It’s quiet and once I get into the zone, I don’t want to leave. I have a big window with a view of my backyard. All my reference materials are in one place so it’s convenient.
