Author ANN MCINTOSH was born in the tropics, lived in the frozen North for a number of years, and now resides in sunny central Florida with her husband. She's a proud Mama to three grown children, loves tea, crafting, animals (except reptiles!), bacon, and the ocean. THE Q&A
ANGI: What story have you gotten lost in recently?
ANN: Right now I’m reading John Sandford’s Escape Clause and I’m trying to be good and only read it at night before bed but, man, it’s hard. I love his books and have a hard time putting them down. I know when I get to the very end I’ll be bingeing because his endings are always dramatic and it’s impossible to not finish the book once you get to a certain point!
ANGI: Favorite field trip?
ANN: It’s a toss-up between the beach or a museum.
ANGI: Daffy Duck or Donald Duck?
ANN: Definitely Daffy!
ANGI: What’s your favorite thing about your book’s hero?
ANN: Cort is a man without roots, but it hasn’t stopped him from achieving success or from caring about others. He’s also sexy as all get-out!
ANGI: High Heels or Hiking Boots?
ANN: Probably hiking boots, just because I love comfort, but a nice pair of high heels can turn my head any day!
ANGI: Got a favorite song? What makes it special?
ANN: All of You by John Legend, because my husband sings it to me whenever it comes on and we get kinda mushy LOL!
ANGI: Surf or Turf?
ANN: Turf, if I really have to choose.
ANGI: Biography or History?
ANN: History. When I first started writing I wrote mainly Historicals because I loved the research involved. I’ve had a love of history since I was maybe 11 or so, so it seemed the logical direction.
ANGI: Favorite inspiration or Quote?
ANN: I found a decorative piece that says: “Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius, and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring,” and bought it thinking I’d give it as a gift, but I ended up keeping it, because I love it.
ANGI’s GOTTA ASK: What are your favorite shoes & why?
ANN’s GOTTA ANSWER: The shoes in this picture have only been worn once, at the Blessing of my marriage to my darling husband in June 2018, but although I haven’t found another occasion to wear them yet, they’re probably my favorite. I walked into a store, looking for a dress to wear for the ceremony and there they were… Impossible to match to any dress in the store, in a color I don’t wear very often, and suede, which is notoriously finicky to upkeep, but I HAD to have them. I ended up wearing a navy lace dress. At the time I thought the combination an unusual one, but then I saw Victoria Beckham wear a similar combo to Harry and Meghan’s wedding, and I was over the moon to, for once in my life, be on the cutting edge of fashion LOL!

ANN WANTS TO KNOW: While The Surgeon’s One Night to Forever is set in New York City, at heart I truly love warm, tropical settings. As a reader, do you prefer tropical/rural or urban settings best?
I can't say that I prefer one setting over another. I do like it when the setting almost becomes another character in the story, so to speak.

ReplyDeleteI don't mind the tropical but i love the rural maybe as due to me living in a very rural area and seeing so much wildlife i can relate to it more as even growing up in a foster home it was in a rural area way far from the school and it took 2 hr bus rides home. peggy clayton ptclayton2@aol.com Happy New Year!

Happy new year, Kate, and thanks for stopping by. Isn't it great when you read a book and feel as though you've been to the place where it's set? I used to tell people I didn't get a chance to physically travel as much as I'd like, but I've been all over the world through books.
DeleteI am not picky about settings... I just enjoy going wherever the story leads me...
ReplyDeleteI live in Orlando, so I am definitely a tropical girl as long as it's 85 degrees or less!! For books I like Big cities and tropical settings. I have a huge travel bug, but I travel vicariously through books now. New York City is beautiful, have visited in 2005 and 2007, so much fun people watching!
